What I don't like about the whole "disease" argument is that it makes alchoholics feel sorry for themselves, and it makes them feel like they don't have to take responsibility for their actions. Bullshit. If a person has "ADD" and finds it much more harder to concentrate he still has to find some way to cope, build self discipline and do his work just like any other functioning person in society.
Its not a matter of just taking responsibility for actions. I am sure you will agree that there is a moral obligation difference between disease and acts of volition.
you need to re-check your facts. there are no less than 89 different genes that make up addiction. Just like people can have the cancer gene, they can have the addiction gene as well.
Again you are completely wrong. can you chose to have cancer? Thanks for your confirmation biases.
Care to show links to the studies or are you going to just make accusations? You are ignoring the plain fact that addiction is a long series of deliberate choices.
There are many links that can be found by doing a simple internet search that back up what I have said above. Just google it. Clearly addiction has touched you. It touched me too. It is an ugly horrible disease, that is why I work at a center that is making a difference to those afflicted with it. I hope that you open your heart a bit. These people can be helped and are worth helping.
Finally, you are quite mistaken on how "pre-existing conditions" work in the insurance world. Look it up.
I protect our clients that have been brave enough to talk about addiction. I will not and should not apologize for it. You got to comment the ones that had our staff. You are entitled to your opinion.
Latin? really? You dismiss a rational, fact based argument? I am not trying to attack you. I apologize if it felt that way. I was just asking you to re-check the research being done. Please understand that I see "dirty drug addicts" everyday. They are reach-able. They are often good people. They need help.
You have yet to quote any peer reviewed medical journal which publishes your claims. This they are nothing more than wild claims and you know it. I am not sure where you think you will get with this intellectual dishonesty.
"I was just asking you to re-check the research being done. " And I am asking you to cite the research, but you have evaded the issue.
I never once said that these people did not need some level of help.

"There are many links that can be found by doing a simple internet search that back up what I have said above." But yet you will provide no links or references. I was not the one making extraordinary claims thus the need for extraordinary evidence falls on you.
"Just google it." I have and Google is not a peer reviewed medical journal. Please quote page, date, and issue of the publishing if you can.
"It is an ugly horrible disease," Not listed as disease in the DSMIV - simply not a disease.
"that is why I work at a center that is making a difference to those afflicted with it."
It is clear that you are a 12 step proponent. 12 step has a success ratio of 5% with and 5% without.
"I hope that you open your heart a bit."
Special pleading? Why not look at the facts?
"These people can be helped and are worth helping. "
Special pleading part II?? in an ill thought attempt to villianize me and make the statement that certain people are not worth saving. Not my statement - yours.
I have just come to the conclusion that everyone of drinking age in my family with the exception of one niece have drinking problems and cant seem to go a day without drinking
I never got into it I don't know why but I worry about my son
I some times think its a family trait!!!
they are not drunks or dirtbags but all drink everyday
I think this is something that is passed on in someways socially. It is something that we see the people we want to be like do, so naturally we want to do it too.
The drink or use to escape is something that is learned. We learn all of our living skills from our family, not that they are to blame, but they do set examples.

Support your accusations by citing the author, article name, date, and volume from a peer reviewed medical journal.
I am sure you do not have one publicized on this topic - I looked it up.
Your "Argument from Authority" holds no water with me or my subscribers.

Also may I ad on your videos - Removes all dissenting comments?? Nice and so very typical, thanks for playing.

Explain how you can have a "genetic" link and not have a pre-existing condition.
You can not have your cake and eat it too.
