  • I love that this was featured in this film. I love Hattie McDaniel's voice - "Sooner or Later" is great too, from SOTS.

  • As a pre-schooler in the early 1940's, I memorized the words to this song from a 78 RPM record at home. Mother was quite a fan of Mr. Robeson. Finding this video took me back to days I'd almost forgotten. Thanks a million for posting it.

  • @Eu4279 Hattie had a legitimate singing career. In fact, apart from being the first African American to win an Oscar, she also has the distinction of being the first black woman to sing on the radio in the US.
