  • In this song it says "Fun is the one thing that money cant buy". What happened to "Cant buy me love"?

  • R.i.p. Whitney -

  • @GreenhouseEffectGE Why post that here?

  • I cried ;'(

  • This song is perfect.

  • @affectionatepunch

isnt it funny that they dont have a clue and you wish you coukd shout some sense into them

    sunset25

  • Is this girl going away to be a hippy?

  • my favourite song of all time. Perfection. I will never get tired of Paul's heavenly vocals, John's mesmerising reprise and the beautiful strings.

  • My English homework great fun lol:)xo

  • This is the Beatles most underrated song!

  • This is one of the few songs that make me sad =J

  • Esta es una de mis favoritas de ellos. Es tan triste y a la vez te da tanta paz con sus voces, es fuera de lo común, me encantan. Puedo escucharla por el resto de mi vida y no me cansaré.

    ¡Arriba The Beatles! :)

  • this song made me sad

  • 1,978 PEOPLE ARE SUPER AWESOME AND COOL

  • 26 PEOPLE EAT SHIT AND HAVE NO LIFE

  • One of the highlights of Sgt Pepper (that sentence alone meaning it's one of the best of all time). John's overdubs blend magically with Paul's lyrics, a great example of how magical their relationship was in these times (the pinnacle of the Beatles). As the only real ballad on Sgt Pepper, it stands up really well. 9.8/10

  • @ForeverTreesGreen a day in the lifes a ballad as well really

  • George<3 February 25th im making you a cake(:

  • This made me cry =''(

  • Very sad. Please take care of your children. once you lose them it's never the same again. I'm speaking as a son.A father. and a grandfather who followed the beatles since 1962.

  • I love John so much, I want to dislike Paul so much, but.........I can't, but ty for the the amazing back-up vocals John (and George)

  • @umpdv5000 you fucking faggot

  • @iBlowJustinBeiber With a handle like iBlowJustinBeiber it sounds like you would know what a faggot is? I would guess your probably about 16 or 17 years of age and have left school without a brain cell with only your handle as an idea of a job prospect. Grow up.

  • @umpdv5000 TLDR......FAGGOT

  • @iBlowJustinBeiber This isn't 4chan.

  • @iBlowJustinBeiber Awww didn't teacher and mum mum's manage to learn you how to write then, still having to use letters because you can't spell. Never mind I'll find you a dum dum.

  • Just an amazingly great song!!! Then they did have about 100 others didn't they??

  • I am finding it hard to read the lyrics with all the spelling mistakes. :/

  • @minipullin There are very few mistakes

  • @minipullin You must not read very well, theres only about three that I saw that were blatantly obvious.

  • *Uses for Year 12 Belonging Assessment*...

  • The Simpsons brought me here.

  • This song is sad :(

  • I always get teary eyed on the last "Bye Bye".

  • ANOTHER GREAT SONG FROM THE BEATLE LEGACY

  • Still as beautiful as the day I first heard it.

  • It's strange to me how the top comments have 3 & 5 thumbs up when mine has 27 on here? Funny old world eh macca

  • The intro on the... Steal guitar? No, not sharp enough. Harp? I don't know. Whatever it is, it's amazing. Great song.

  • @freethetech It's a Harp, though it sounds somewhat modified... btw if it was a guitar it would be a classical nylon string and not a steel string, sounds completely different.

  • @TheArcticGuardian I only thought steal guitar, at first, because of a version of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd I heard that used similar sound, but it was much too dull in comparison. It had to be a harp. But you are correct, somewhat modified. Maybe a cello? I'm not sure. I know they used the Moog Synthesizer in Abbey Road, but did they use it for this song? Hmm.

  • sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee is leaviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooome <3

  • I thought of this song at the end of my little dashie :,)

  • Its strange but when i heard this song as a kid i thought "Good for you girl its a big world out there get away from your opressive demanding parents live your life!" Now i'm in my fifties i just think "You selfish little bitch!" Its a funny old world...

  • @affectionatepunch I think McCartney wrote a song called 'She's come back with her tail between legs'.

  • @affectionatepunch ... funny how time changes things.

  • @affectionatepunch SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @affectionatepunch No she did the right thing. Can you imagine bringing up a bastard child up on your own in the fifties on your own? GM wrote the lyrics...probably the chords too...a man more older than the beatles...i have convinced of it...he also composed most of their music..The Beatles were kids...no way did they have the maturity to write those songs. GM did.PM still doesn't. Other he should have still not married married twice...after L.

    /watch?v=RVIPQUmaDS4&context=C3d37c42ADOEgsToPDskIqhieHWnuC-ZVezrT7o-W1

im sure he would greatly appreciate it

  • It's been years since I heard this song and I still remember all the words :D

  • @rock2honor thats long-term memory for you.

  • too beautiful for it to be real, good music.

  • Quel geniaccio di Paul in pochi minuti ci regala una vera e propria sinfonia

  • I love this song, and the way that it ends is perfect.

  • @Kilroy1963 There was a lot of this happening at the time. It was an aspect of what was known as the generation gap.

  • very cute song

  • I listen to this when i mow people down with a enormous dildo on grand theft auto san andreas

  • How did they write this when they were young ?

  • @kilroy1963 Cos they're the mudda-f*ckin' Beatles.

  • Ever since I was a little girl I've wanted this song to be my Father-daughter dance for my wedding :)

  • @u2beatlesccr Either you have a very morbid sense of humor or you don't really get what the song is about. That's like playing Can't Get Started by Fitzgerald as you walk down the aisle.

  • @juttezak well what do you think this song is about?

  • @u2beatlesccr I think it's about a girl running away from home with only leaving a note and she meets her boyfriend or some other dude and runs off with him.

  • @juttezak that exactly what I think the song is about but maybe not as harsh ! So what would your father-daughter song be then?

  • @u2beatlesccr Here in the Netherlands there is no customary father-daughter dance so I never actually thought about it.

  • I love this song. One of my favorite beatles song!

  • PERFECTION

  • i know people say this a lot but i really almost cried when i heard this the first time since i was 5 or 6.

  • Beatle Freaks: quick story.....tried for almost 2&1/2 years trying to get get in touch on-line w/the Viola, Violin or Cello players, what a story they would have to tell....didn't work

  • @sirwob They are not of the on-line generation. I knew one the Viola players quite well - a great bloke to take out for a drink.

  • @markxl how I envy you

  • @sirwob there's an interview with sheila bromberg who played the harp from the bbc programme the one show that aired in may, it's on youtube.

  • @sirwob have you seen the interview sheila bromberg (harp) on the one show? quite interesting.

  • @The6thSimpson well it took me 2 weeks to get around to it but, thats EXACTLY the kind of Beatle trivia I like, learning stuff the avg. Beatle freak doesn't know...it was toooooo hot tysvm

  • The melody is so rich ^ ^

  • this girl at my boarding school who i thought was pretty, was her last day. she graduated on december 16 2011 which was yesterday and i miss her. she's leaving school! :'(

  • just bought this album yesterday :)

...But I left my disc drive/CD player at home.

  • This song inspires me to look at it as the expression of female beauty, the female beauty of the entire world.

  • Much credit to George Martin I'm quite sure!

  • I wish The Beatles had wrote a song about me. Imagine being part of Beatles history forever!

  • This is pretty much "For No One" on steroids if you think about it.

  • @GrumpyPancake I'm pretty sure the stories are a different, it seems to me that in '' For no one" she's leaving her boyfriend but in this one she's leaving her parents and childhood home.

  • This is my favorite Beatles song

  • McCartney...such a genius

  • A most provocative piece... evokes emotions even most sturdy would be hard pressed to ignore.

    A COMPLETE work of ART...Bravo

  • wonderful

  • Without doubt the best song off the album.

  • This song is a work of art. Not just because of the music nor lyrics (even though both are beautiful) but because of the back story of this song. If you dont know it, search it up, it'll amaze you.

  • my parents question me only 'cause this is my favorite song. ever.

  • Every time I listen to this I have tears in my eyes, to beautiful for my soul.

  • I have to say, outasight's cover is better.

  • I cried like a baby while listening to this. No idea why. I guess it's just too beautiful.

  • the refrain with bg and voice, is the touching climax of the song.

  • interesting composition with no percussion or bass guitar

  • (thanks to this song, i have my hour of glory in oral english course, cause i knew the word handkerchief...nobodie's perfect)

  • this is an absolute masterpiece.........one of my all time favourites.....

  • I Was born in the wrong era for definite i mean i loved the greats such as jimi hendrix and budy holly and the beatles are my favourites. people in my class says im weird for liking this band and try to get me to listen to rap. they have never heard real music :)

  • I love the sound of the strings pulsing during the first time they sing the chorus. And John sounds so despondent-- so beautiful. He had such a way of conveying emotion through his voice. His singing always had such a vulnerable sound to it.

  • @LoquaciousInkSlinger You mean the "We never thought for ourselves..." part? I love John's voice in that :)

  • @wecanworkitout2 That exact part... So gorgeous. John's voice was so gorgeous.

  • Hey 17lio, zappas were only in it for the money album cover was a parody of the sargeant pepper cover which came out first. Cheers!

  • She -- We gave her most of our lives...

  • I think this is my fav beatles song

  • The cover reminds me something of Frank ZAPPA cover album.

Maybe it should be the contrary....

  • @mrmagicroundcircle The line is about the failure to communicate across generations. The parents would have grown up during World war II, and their lives were not so great at that time. The daughter has grown up in an affluent era and has different expectations. Take it from someone who is the daughters contemporary.

  • It is utter perfection wrapped up in melodic magic. Too beautiful for words to do it justice on here but yes it is about a girl who wants to leave home to live with her boyfriend but her parents were oblivious and she felt bad. Still it brings up so many emotions that were left dormant in a cold heart.

  • @MrMoviemaster26 Great McCartney song one of the most beatifull melody of all time

  • Incroyable. Vraiment!

  • This is a fully realized, completely successful work of art, on every level.

No composer of art song, musical theater, or even opera, has ever come up with a better ensemble piece than this.

  • @tuxguys Thats a pretty strong assumption my good friend... and a very debatable opinion. which leads me to say that i agree absolutely 100% ;)

  • @tuxguys Oh come on. It is great and I have loved it for decades as a Beatlemaniac.

But go listen to Rachmaninoff's 4 piano concerto's (Earl Wild/Horenstein conducting).

Listen to those four gems and you will realize great arrangements existed prior to this.

  • @tuxguys I totally second that. Merry Christmas.

  • @tuxguys I know that to reply a top comment with a different opinion on youtube is like a spiritual suicidie, but I must to say: Extremoduro > The Beatles.

  • @prehistory42

Pt II: I just assumed it was George Martin... and I hope my mistake is taken as a compliment to Mike Leander's fans.

  • @prehistory42

You know this for sure? I'm embarrassed that I did not know this.

  • @malthuswasright

Interesting comment, as both tunes feature the string-arranging genius of their producer, George Martin.

  • 21 people accidentally the button

  • the beatles are just, AMAZING.

  • I love how this song is sad, but also happy.

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful.

  • she's leaving home after living alone for so many years ??????????

  • @mrmagicroundcircle I think the "living alone for so many years" was purely metaphorical.

  • @mrmagicroundcircle I don't think they mean literally-- it's more of a metaphor. I'm not sure what they mean exactly-- it could be that the girl felt misunderstood for so many years, etc....

  • @pjpoppinfresh

Bad? I think this is one of their best. But you're right, it's better than most of today's music.

  • With respect to 38chinadoll I have never come across the notion the girl was leaving home to become a prostitute in the 44 years since this song was released. Surely she just wanted more out of life than she was enjoying living at home with her parents.

  • Takes me back many years to a tearful early morning departure . heard my mam say to dad bout time he fucked off . My you i was a 42 yr old bloke

  • Comment removed

  • The melody reminds very much of Mendehlsohn´s violin consert the second movement, beautiful, but sentimental and conventional. The ending answering counterpoint melody, is composed by Lennon.

  • This is a song about a women who leaves home to become a prostitute.

    Fun?

  • @38chinadoll It's actually a song about a girl who leaves home to run away with her boyfriend.

  • Beautiful song

  • this is AWESOME!

  • what is considered a bad beatles song is still better than anything made today.

  • Beautiful song.

  • Just another wonderfull song that the four gave us.such talent will be forever recorded in time!

  • @qcampos

I'd 'Like' your comment, but that's a really heavy statement....hoping you're going off to a good adventure!

  • this is one of the best all time songs. remember this in a car driving back from the beach after a family picnic, my mom and dad turning the radio up to hear it as the sleepy streets passed by in the evening sun. That background sadness, the eternal search for fun and excitment has haunted me ever since.

  • Dig this...

Right this minute I'm listening to 2 versions of this song at the exact same time.

    1) The full version in the account of "AuthorizedRock" and the lead vocal track only in the account of "MRYUMish".

It sounds strange to be playing both of them at the exact same time because the vocal track only version has a few gaps in it somewhere.

Try it yourself, you'll see that somewhere in the song the vocal only track gets behind by more than 5 seconds.

  • This could be my favorite beatle song!

  • one of the first beatles songs i learned on piano

  • I love this song. < 3

  • I watched my sister do the same thing, we still see her, but it just aint the same.

    i miss her being home...B''(

  • According To The Paul Is Dead Rumor He Died On Wendsday Moring At 5 o'Clock In His White Aston Martin And he Died Decapitated Which Means Head Got Cut off

  • @RatedRProductionsTV What a lie

  • @RatedRProductionsTV Cool Story Bro.

  • @RatedRProductionsTV Well then it's lucky that Wendsday Moring doesn't happen, eh?

  • this song always brings a tear to my eye.

  • If someone can find me a more beautiful use of the harp i will give them my house

  • @CommieCotch I wouldn't want your house its probably a makeshift hut made of bamboo

  • @randomsomethingman oh finally heres that twat i ordered, youre late

  • @CommieCotch Listen to 60 years on, Sir Elton John. Skaila Kanga plays the harp beautifully and is so talented. Try the live version froma BBC programme recorded in the 70's. Can I have your house now?

  • @terryneale You can have a slap in the face for acting as if those are equal alternatives, its laughable to suggest they are as good!

  • @CommieCotch Everyone to their own. Don't dismiss other peoples views so easily, they might just be right. Now where's my house?

  • @dareCP For the record it's not a cover. Same title but different words and music. Oh, and the Beatles song is WAAAAY better!! ;p

  • 0:50 - 1:17 О! Как это классно!!!

  • they dont get any more beautiful than this song

  • theres a reason this song is about a girl, I cry every time i hear it..

  • @lomboy09 yeah, she was leaving home for a abortion !
