Italy was WAAAAY better than Japan! Of course Kanku Dai is much more beautiful than Seienchin. Shotokai Rules! "Oss" Tiago Pedroso, Grupo Unitis - Karate-Do Shotokai

Italy was WAAAAY better than Japan! Of course Kanku Dai is much more beautiful than Seienchin. Shotokai Rules! #Oss# Tiago Pedroso, Grupo Unitis - Karate-Do Shotokai
Very well executed for both teams. I think they both did equally well, but overall Japan's kata was more difficult. Kanku Dai is great, but Italy needed to step it up a bit if they wanted to come out on top.
Although I am a Goju-ryu practicioner, and even though donot support this type of competition--due to personal combative preferences associated with not giving away timing, kim, chan chan etc etc...the fact still remains that the Italian team was better in unity with their movements, timing sequences, eye kime etrc etc as a team than the Japanese--that is self evident and the film demonstrates it--in the eyes of honest karateka--Italy won!
@gdalbear54 I have to say that there is a distinction btw kata in the west and that of Japan (at least for now there is). Personally, I cannot stand the way that westerners jerk and lurch and do their epileptic kata! I find it to be the pretentious sort of BS that only white breads can conjure up! WTF is the hurry? Every move has to be at light speed? Performed by a bunch of Rock EM Sock EM Karate Robots? Where is the Zen? Where is the serenity? I hope they at least didn't bite their tongues!
@osensei2987 Yes - this is not Old School Okinawa family style karate-- It is very much the karate that Japan developed into a competitive method vis-a-vis the University system-- I agree with your comments, but believe that if they have set this up as a sport --that as such it must be judged. That said,I agree --there is no meditation in motion--and there is no change of speed --which is inherent in both combat and traditional Kaisai and kata perspectives of the Okinawa Ryu-has...
I have seen the rules for Kata, in the first and second kata is obligatory (Shitei) for Shito Ryu is Bassai Dai y Seienchin for Shoto Kan Bassai Dai and Kanku Dai...
Japan's Kata, was much harder and advanced, than Italy's Kata... and they (Japan) were more synchronized... some of you need your eyes checked. The fact that they were in Japan has nothing to do with them beating Italy. The better team placed higher. Notice that Japan did not place 1st.... I don't know why so many act surprised that Japan beat Italy...? When I think about KARATE and "Perfection" of one's self and Kata, I think about Japan (Where it was created)... not Italy!! lol.
Aw man, Luca slipped his balance at 1:39. Maybe that's the reason why they lost to Japan, because if one screws up, the whole team falls. That's how team kata goes. But Japan for me was kinda off at some parts. But I guess outbalancing is a bigger mistake.
Japan can do far better than this kata, this time they didn't do a good job but they won anyway, that's not right, italian kanku dai was far better, i didn't expect it from a championship organized in the fair and equal Japan
They dont deserve to be in third place... Japan's seinchin's is suck man... if you're a detailed person you can see how insynchronize it is... Damn.... In final japan lost to France????? dangg..... Bias....
Felicidades a Italia.

FORZA ITALIA FORZA RAGAZZI! Karate is not only about being rough, it's both rough and smooth. Japan had both, Italy only had rough.

INCREDIBILE!!!
