Best show ever!
This scene was epic. Currently on season 3 of The Wire & this is when Avon and Stringer have a real conflict between each other. I thought Avon was going to find out through McNultty but I was fucking shocked when Stringer told him himself. Avon shoudn't have questioned Stringer's toughness.

Fuck" crime scene investigation with McNulty and Bunk was the investigation of that shooting, which was Wee-Bey's doing, not D's. D killed the guy in 221 out of fear. He was no killer. And, really, that 221 killing was the initial spark that eventually blew up the entire Barksdale empire.

Avon's reaction was nothing like I thought. I was always like, "Once Avon finds out he's gonna beat the crap out of him and then immediately blow his head off." The fact that he got up so calm and didn't go for a gun or anything after Stringer told him STILL surprises me.

@Safo8888 Avon was the one who put the fear in the hearts of other rivals. Without him, the family would never have taken off. Stringer was all about the money - as Avon says, Avon bleeds red, and Stringer bleeds green. Stringer just wasn't a violent enough guy and would have never taken the Towers for himself. That's why they were such a great team - Avon handled the violent end of business and String handled the business side.

@h445 Yeah, but there's not much to show Avon still deserves that reputation. He gets shot up by Marlo's soldiers trying to kill him and here he gets beaten down by String without much effort. Besides, String was trying to show in this scene that he has the guts to do what Avon won't - like kill D.

@abctime35 yeah i didnt understand why avon helped marlo. i only just realised that joe fucked avon more then marlo ever did. avon understood that marlo was just another west side nigga coming up while joe and his people were the real enemy. avon giving marlo the connect was his last play against the east side and also his way of putting marlo in the spot light of mcnulty too. he knew after he gave marlo the connect both marlo and joe wouldnt be around for long. so really avon won in the end.
