  • There's only two guitar companys in the world that make the REAL SG's and they are Gibson USA and Epiphone. All others are simply fakes.

  • @stratdem Don't forget the Orville SG guitars.

  • I have a 1978 model. The wood has settled, and it sounds better than my friends 1959 LP re-issue. It's just amazing, and the condition is amazing.. Really an all time great.

  • are the newer ones good for metal/ or just heavy tones?

  • @09phillt Dude, these things will cope with anything. Had mine for 7 years now and gigged it playing blues and sabbath. Not the most balanced guitar on the strap, but better than a les paul by a country mile.

  • @09phillt It's like a les paul. Play whatever on it. Put EMG's in yours, whatever you wanna do, it'll do it.

  • The build quality on these guitars is amazing. I own a 1982 SG600 & it's a beauty.

  • how much $ for that one

  • the most underrated guitar ever better fuzzy riff than gibson and sustain.

  • I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Standard 2006. I would not say it is an extremely good guitar but, honestly, Yamaha SG 1000 and 2000 are better options. One would have to compare them side by side, then only the difference can be found.

  • i ask....which is better: a yamaha sg 1000 or a Gibson SG Standard? (versatility, punch, noise, mellowship...)

  • @FrancoDamn I have a 1978 sg1000. It's better than any Les Paul I've played. or SG.

  • Hi , i just bought a SG1000 and it was described as around 18 months old (from september 2010) and i just tried the serial number and i cant find anything ? anyone wana shed light ? It feels very authentic to a 2000 i tried :/

  • If you're a fan of Yamaha Instruments, check out this exclusive photo shoot and interview with saxophone jazz artist Mindi Abair. Here's the video! Youtube.com/watch?v=ZmSrOzXjsN8

  • what's the difference between a Yamaha 1000 and a 2000? They look similar, seem a same model.

  • @FrancoDamn 1000.......

  • @FrancoDamn The 2000 has neck through neck or something along with a sustain bridge, nothing too different really.

  • @FrancoDamn Probably already had an answer , but just in case you haven't, the 2000 has a neck thru body design and slightly different bridge mounting plate, whereas the 1000 has a traditional set neck like a les paul. everything else the same. And they will both kick a les paul's ass in every department, finish, build quality, set up and sound.

  • rose morris suck my dick

  • lots of bullshit and nothing to play, this video sucks ass

  • neck heavy?

  • this guitar is fucking awesome

  • THIS IS THE BEST GUITAR EVER MADE!

    Yamaha SG 1000

  • it just isn't

  • LUKE MAD SKILLZ the quality of this guitar is the quality of the pickups YAMAHA, they are Awesome and the guitar have a sustain FANTASTIC

  • the single coil sound is awesome

  • bit of a strange question but where is the serial number of the sg 1000 there are numbers on the back of the headstock but it doesn't seem to coincide with anything i can find on the net, just like to pin down the date on the guitar.

  • love that funky bit

  • omfg i cant belive it a review with a english person :O:O

    good guitar

  • why? haha

  • there isnt any mate honest!

  • I want one!

  • my dad has this guitar but in cherry red, and it was made in the 70's and he's had it ever since he bought it back in the 70's and it still works perfect, has amazingly hot pickups for non active, and plays like a dream..can't beat a vintage guitar.

  • hey how much do u think they want for that guitar??

  • hey mate, you can check from their website.

  • Online Price: £869.00 GBP (inc VAT)

  • Gibsons are cool, but they charge what they want because they know they can get it. People are indoctrinated into thinking a Gibson or Fender is the only credible option... But thats good! It means the rest of us can get other great guitars for cheap!

  • @DangerousBastard

Where did you see a comparable Yamaha S(B)G (to a Gibson) for cheap? I want one!

  • Cool. I want one! :-)

  • ¿¿podrian subir el volumen??

    high volume, please!

  • p.p.s

I love Gibsons, and sure you can play intircate stuff too, but it's just the neck being thinner means more versatility, and well I also don't agree with Gibson charging almost 2grand for a guitar which is not as well made as this, and so people basically paying for the name of the guitar....this must stop....

  • I've noticed recently that Bill Kelliher & Brent Hinds, both of Mastodon fame, have both been using Yamaha SGs these days. Considering those guys have an amazing arsenal of axes - custom Les Pauls, custom flying Vs, explorers, custom first act even - and they're now seemingly opting for the above guitar in its silverburst and sunburst form says a lot to me.

  • It does say alot....i played an SG2000s side by side with a custom Les Paul reissue vintage, costing a hell of a lot, and well I just seemd to fall in love with the SG, and then I flt the SG a robust creature, whereas Les pauls look cool, but they feel almost cheap compared to the build of the SG....no wonder hardly anyone stocks them, or people wouldn't buy les Pauls ! and SG's are cheaper !

  • I totally agree with you there. I was about to buy a gibson sg but now i've seen this, I'm definitely going with the yamaha. I has everything I want.

  • p.s

forgot to say that it's also more versatile than a Gibson, because it can be used to play more intricate guitar stuff, and well the reaosn many shops don't stock them is possibly because they are better made and cost less than a Gibson, and once you play one you will forget about the Gibsons, and so no shops would sell Gibsons ! Plain and simple !

  • I have the SG2000s and has a tiger stripe maple sunburst which makes my friends who own les pauls weep and wanna swap guitars during a jam. It has coil tapped volume knobs as standard and a thinner neck, abit liek Jimmy Page's custom shop Gibson LP, which also has coil taps and thinner neck. My SG is als thru neck and you wouldn't piss on a Gibson if it was on fire after playing one of these baby's !

  • i wana see it :-(

  • send me your personal email and will mail you some photos ! don't drool over the keyboard !

  • Demo would have been better if he'd tuned the guitar first!

  • lol.. how many times he sais "this fantastic......"

  • @ludovicus777 actually he only says fantastic 3 times 0.o

  • love that guitar

  • YO...i own an original 1000 from the 80's...

I kind of like Les paul guitar,i had a studio

    but...i sold it.

Since i have try many others LP in various shop.

I still would love to buy one ...for personal satisfaction!!!

But no Les paul can touch my Yamaha SG ,when it comes to

look , build quality and playability...

Sound is a matter of personel choice!!!

A MUST KEEP,UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND £2000.

  • Ugh! The Yamaha SG is a design classic, and has a tone to match check those curves are you blind?. Possibly one of the finest playing, looking and sounding guitars I have ever owned! and I have owned a fair few.

  • A lot of gain and a lot of power and a big thick sound isn't a "problem", it's a great feature!

  • I own an origianl Yamaha SG 1000s. I feel very very lucky. A friend of my fathers sold it to me cheap, as he was going through a tough divorce. I will never ever sell it.

  • always loved this guitar!

  • I have an early 80s SG1000 and you'd have to prise it out of my cold dead heads. Built like a brick outhose and a wonderful guitar. Gibson who?

  • are these still being made? i thought they were sort of extinct! And only second hand were available.

I have a real nice pearl white yam sg200, about 1984, its pretty mint, is it valuable, sort after.

I recently bought a prs santana 3, and to be honest, i find myself playing the yamaha most of the time instead, just cant beat it. Maybe its cos the santanas still new, not aged.

considering getting rid of the prs!

  • @georgegleek prs are ugly guitars, and even the sunburst color can't make these things to look beautiful as a Les Paul, a SG (Yamaha or gibson) or an Ibanez Artist
