You make good points Freddy. Eric Berry is a great player but I still believe that Mays would make a better NFL player in the end. He has great leadership skills and even tho people say say he looks for the big hit more often, it is one of his defining qualities. I mean his hits are so hard that it sometimes takes multiple people to help their receiver up. I've never seen someone do that so many times. I guarantee that the receiver always will have that in the back of their heads.
F*** Eric Berry and Tennessee. Cal faced both teams in recent years (and both players) and as a Cal fan, not a single player from Tennessee's squad could start on SC's squad. I was at this game and Mays dominated the secondary. His speed/size is unreal. I recall Tennessee players yapping about SEC dominance, but when the time came to make good on their words, they were waaay too slow to handle the speed or physicality of a typical Cal team. The SEC is completely overrated and so is Berry.
Cal WR made an amazing reception at :21 . And for as big, fast, and physical of a player Taylor Mays is, I think he lacks the fundamental balls skills of a, say, Eric Berry. Put Berry in that situation and he eliminates the question of whether or not the receiver caught the ball. A simple bat along with the hit would be more effective buy Mays' hot head just wants the killshots.
That actually wasn't a catch I know it may have looked like it but it was ruled an incompletion. The ball hit the ground when he hit and he kind of trapped it with his body when he rolled. However, I agree with you to an extent Mays does look for the killshot a little to often and tends to play the receiver more than the ball. That said I think Mays makes the better transition to pros because of his size, Eric Berry being 6'0 200lbs might struggle with some of bigger WRs like the Fitz's and TOs.

You make good points Freddy. Eric Berry is a great player but I still believe that Mays would make a better NFL player in the end. He has great leadership skills and even tho people say say he looks for the big hit more often, it is one of his defining qualities. I mean his hits are so hard that it sometimes takes multiple people to help their receiver up. I've never seen someone do that so many times. I guarantee that the receiver always will have that in the back of their heads.

F*** Eric Berry and Tennessee. Cal faced both teams in recent years (and both players) and as a Cal fan, not a single player from Tennessee's squad could start on SC's squad. I was at this game and Mays dominated the secondary. His speed/size is unreal. I recall Tennessee players yapping about SEC dominance, but when the time came to make good on their words, they were waaay too slow to handle the speed or physicality of a typical Cal team. The SEC is completely overrated and so is Berry.

Cal WR made an amazing reception at :21 . And for as big, fast, and physical of a player Taylor Mays is, I think he lacks the fundamental balls skills of a, say, Eric Berry. Put Berry in that situation and he eliminates the question of whether or not the receiver caught the ball. A simple bat along with the hit would be more effective buy Mays' hot head just wants the killshots.

That actually wasn't a catch I know it may have looked like it but it was ruled an incompletion. The ball hit the ground when he hit and he kind of trapped it with his body when he rolled. However, I agree with you to an extent Mays does look for the killshot a little to often and tends to play the receiver more than the ball. That said I think Mays makes the better transition to pros because of his size, Eric Berry being 6'0 200lbs might struggle with some of bigger WRs like the Fitz's and TOs.

Hell fucking yeah Mays takes big hits over swatting the ball. The WR will catch the ball probably 1 time out of 10 with Mays nearby. Sure, Eric Berry gets picks here and there, but with Mays in the secondary, the offense plans around Taylor Mays, or receivers get injured.
