As a musician and songwriter,,,this is Completely astounding these guys are able to make it sound REALLY good as bluegrass. And yes this takes REAL SKILL to pull off a metal song with bluegrass instruments. TRUE ARTISTS THESE GUYS
For all you people raging about how they hate it: Kirk Hammet himself has heard these covers, has been asked about them in interviews, and he _loves_ them.
This style is so complex..no reverb just the players playing sooo many notes in each measure. If you are an electric guitar player, just try to go acoustic, quite a challenge.. thats why the mandolin is 'chunking' he's actually the drumbeat! I love this stuff and I love the originals too..
nnnnoooooo!!!! this isnt bluegrass if u want to hear true bluegrass then look up groups like moutain heart,Alison crouse,J.D. crowe, blue highway,or balsam range
This is a really awesome idea for a cover band, and it also just so happens to sound amazing! I wonder when they start doing country Cannibal Corpse, or Doo-whop Slayer
this is chilling.....even more than when I first heard Metallica do it. Guess because it reminds me of my grandparents......love how this makes bluegrass relevant to kids my age (30 and younger)
@PRON3BLOCK3D This is very good music. All the musicians are very good. Also I listen to Metallica too, I like all kinds of music. But if we went to a festival and started playing Twisted Sister on bluegrass instruments they'd bombard us with snuff cans, understand what I'm talking about?
Too bad they don't have the solos at the end (the best part of the original song). Banjo sounds really good when played really fast. That would have been cool.
Honestly this is pretty good, but if you want to hear some bluegrass covers that will make you feel like your life has been changed forever listen to pickin on zeppelin. They are great, no quarter is my favorite of theirs
I love both versions of the song, I myself being a metalhead, but this version has much more feel to it, its got more sadness, its depressing and I love it
I'm a huge fan of metal and I appreciate Iron Horse's faithful bluegrass recreations of Metallica's songs like few other covers out there. Whether you can take bluegrass or not, nobody can truthfully deny that they did a competent job on these.
ok,.. I like it the concept, but why'd they not use the best part of the song? I felt like I just watched the first 3/4 of Titanic and then got punched in the balls. All crap, but you sit through it knowing the good part is coming but then, nope - denied. Like getting a BJ from a really ugly hooker who doesn't even let you finish.
i just knew about this type of music, honestly i liked it and i think its great i mean look at apocalyptica they r using cello and violin to do metallica's song and no one hates them but what i didn't like in this song is the last part
if they play it like the real song i think it will be so epic
Skret117, I appreciate your loyalty/enthusiasm but everyone has a right to interpret and feel songs in different ways. I've been a serious metalhead my whole life (Including industrial metal like Fear Factory and Static-X) and i think this shit is SWOOEETT sounding :D haha.
One on a banjo sounds pretty bad-ass. The singer's voice isn't the best, but I give these guys credit. They're doing something that very few bands are willing to attempt: crossing two genres of music that are on two opposite ends of the spectrum. I think I am going to try to get my grandparents into Metallica now, however. They love bluegrass and I think might be right up their alley. :)
bluegrass is not the original thrash. whoever thinks so has no idea what thrash is. hint metallica isnt thrash. Slayer is thrash metallica was just metal. now there are just old gay fucks envious of korn husking middle aged queers.
the term sell out hardly is enough for metallica.
i understand that bands evolve but have the decency to change your name when you no longer are playing metal.
@NOGODnever You do realize that people that are saying bluegrass is the original thrash are making whats called a joke. The comparison is funny because both genres are totally unrelated, especially in how they came to exist. As for Slayer, believe it or not, people do age. They do get older. However, they did stay true to their thrash roots which, in my own personal opinion, is something to be respected.
And Metallica are absolutely sell outs. But I don't understand why people see this in
@NOGODnever a negative way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Metallica sell out tickets at every gig? Don't they have their own official merchandise? Didn't they sue people over Napster because people were depriving them of money. That's not making music for your fans, that's making music for money. That's called selling out. That is the DEFINITION of selling out.
And who the fuck are you to tell any band to change their name if they're no longer playing metal? Pull your head out of
blugrass thash is awsome........sounds like these guys had the song first and metallica had sloppy 2nds......lol no dis on metallica.....best song yet ...im goin through out the library of yall

@DanielvanHarmelen Well, I'm sure we're all very glad to hear your input, but I like the banjo. And just because you say that it "sucks" doesn't mean it actually does. Your reality tunnel's different than mine therefore neither of us can say whether or not the banjo really does suck. No one can say whats wrong or right, therefore you think it sucks. It's not "true" but you have the whole right to say it is.
@DanielvanHarmelen u are a puppet bitch....saying shit like "i guess it must be awesome too" form ur own opinion and stop being a bitch....oh and all kinds of music can sound fuckin awesome if u have an open ear.
this is an awesome cover. I like all sorts of music, and can appreciate the cover of this song with the fiddle and stand up bass. sounds amazing! rip it up all you want.. just cuz you don't like bluegrass, doesnt mean it isnt good.
Bluegrass is supposed to be fast, very rythmic and sort of happy, right ? This is Metallica's saddest song, maybe not the best song to cover in bluegrass style because of that, but it's enjoyable and still good.
@JoKeRzCaRdProDucTion are you fucking high? good yes.
