  • I connected it exactly like this....can somebody tell me why my phone wont call?????

  • ok, how do you make calls to PSTN world? are you using any providers?

  • is there a way i can connect a wifi router with this i got another box thats call a Zphone that is connected with it but im tryin to figure out can i connect a wifi router to this or the Zphone box tkx in advance n tkx for this too couldnt figure it out

  • The device he's setting up is a Cisco/Linksys SPA2102, it's not a Cisco/Linksys PAP2T. The SPA2102 contains a router and has both a WAN and a LAN port. It's DESIGNED to attached directly to the modem in front of any other PC or Router.

    PC(s) -> ExistingRouter -> Cisco SPA2102 -> Cable/DSL Modem -> Internet

    If you dont want your VoiP device to be "first" and would rather put it behind your existing router, you should get the Cisco/Linksys PAP2T _or_ hook up the WAN port to your router.

  • This' s not correct. If you have a router it could already be connected to your modem. Leave it as is and just connect the blue wire that was sent with the phone adapter, connect it to an open port on the router and the other end goes to the blue port on the phone adapter. Plug your phone into line 1 and you re good to go.

  • This' s not correct

  • Good basic demo. There is a bit more though to it than that when I set up my linksys VOIP box. I had to log into the VOIP box which is like logging into a router using the web browser and set the User ID and password I got from my VOIP provider and also enter a dial plan which is a long string of numbers which instructs the VOIP how to dial numbers like 911 and 411 and other information numbers.

  • Thanks for uploading; very informative

  • If I have a router, should it sit in front of the ATA or behind it?

  • @utubepunk The ATA should be behind your NAT router. Internet comes into your router and ATA is plugged into one of the LAN connectors. I set a static IP for my VOIP box like 192.168.0.50 I also port forwarded ports 5060 and 5061 (SIP ports) from the router to the VOIP on 192.168.0.50

  • @electronixTech - Ha ha. Thanks! I did figure out the first part a while back, but didn't know about the second part of your reply. I will sheck it out. Thanks!

  • My adapter has three ports, two phone and one thernet? how can I setup mine?

  • Youll need to buy a router. I suggest a buffalo router

  • If you are not running your computer, can you still use Voip phone at low cost?

    thanks.

  • Yes- the ATA (linksys box in this video) allows you to use your regular phone without the computer being turned on. The reason he's hooking his laptop up to the ATA is to configure it (and to get to the Internet since he doesn't have a router). As long as your ATA and cable modem is pluggd in, then you can make low cost VOIP calls.
