@msdaronmalakian13 actually it doesn't suck: my first guitar, a Squier Strat, sucked so bad compared to yours! But I was able to pull off a decent heavy sound even with that: it's a matter of settings, distortion used and picking (listen to the tone of my palm muting lesson for example).

If the gain channel of your amp is good enough, I suggest you to put an overdrive in front of the amp to "boost" the gain a little bit more (something like the Maxon OD 808 will do miracles)

@msdaronmalakian13 otherwise, if you can't afford an amp with a decent gain channel, you can rely on a extra heavy distortion pedal (Boss Metalcore and stuff like that).

@3981784 actually, when I need tabs, I use ultimate-guitar too :) Never bought a tab book in my life, mainly because most of times they're wrong too (I have seen 'em at the music centre) :\ This is due to the fact that those "official" tab books usually are not made by the artists themselves!

What I do, when a song is pretty hard to figure out, is to download a good rated tab, just to get the idea, and then correct it by ear ;)

Man I love your guitar. I have a welfare schecter Diamond series Omen 6, also black. I agree with the trouble for having to switch between distortion and clean... but this is my personal opinion, you did a great job... but your skill is shown through passion, not perfectly getting all the notes correct. Show some feeling when you play! The heart for music is important.

Maybe I should relax a little bit, fuckin' up some notes and let the passion flow through my headbanging ;P But I don't know if this is the right way for me: my latest videos are gettin' professional, and I like it. At the beginning I used to work for like 5 minutes to get a cover recorded, now I need a whole day: but when I upload it I'm 100% satisfied :)

@TexRangers7 I don't own an amp, but I would obviously recommend a good amp like Peavey 6505 or 5150, Mesa Boogie Dual/Triple Rectifier, ENGL Savage, Huges and Kettner Triamp etc. At the reharsal room I use a Randall 150W head with an Hughes and Kettner cabinet, it rocks \m/ For distortion I use the gain from the amp (if I want to switch between clean/distorted sound I use the channel footswitch) + a modded Ibanez TS9 as a booster (no distortion pedals). Then I have a Boss DD7 and a Boss NS2.
