Her books have been made into a series on BBC1 8pm Sundays called 'Call The Midwife' They have played about with the timeline a little so dont watch before you have read the books, im having to wait as ive only just started reading her books, and watched the first series and found there are situations i havnt learned about yet, looking forward to watching it tho!
I have just found out that Jennifer passed away last year; I am so saddened by the loss of this remarkable woman. After reading all three of the "Midwife" trilogy I was so moved that for the first time in my life I wrote to an author, just to thank her for the wonderful books, and for recording it all for future generations. I was so touched when I received a hand written reply from Jennifer, something that I will always treasure. God bless you Jennifer, wherever you may be. x x
I was very saddened to hear of the death of Jennifer Worth on May 31st, 2011. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all four of her books including her last book " in the Midst of Life ". Her three " Midwife " books are brilliantly written an I have read them over and over again. Her death is a great loss to the literary world and to her many fans worldwide.
However, Jennifer worths triligy about the east end of London are fantastic.
I have read all three books twice, and they have become part of my treasured collection. I hope that someday, someone will turn it into a good TV series.
Jennifer Worth's books are absolutely brilliant, she is so passionate and she writes wonderfully. Fantastic story-telling combined with true history. I could just read them over and over and over again. Thank goodness for the fourth one!
The life and memories of this wonderful lady as told in her trilogy of books are amazing. The books are an absolute treasure, and I defy anybody reading them not to weep with sadness in some chapters. I would recommend these books to anybody, they are both a wonderful adventure (made even more amazing in that every word is true) and an education. She describes living conditions in the east end that seem unimaginable by today's standards. Read the books, you wont be disappointed.
