  • a wHile? is this CoolwHip all over again?? Seriously, love the song

  • play bach

  • JEAHHHH

  • I have to sing this for my show choir tryouts !! I think I got it !! ;)

  • This is nuts. I found this on YT & got excited, thinking that I would see & hear LG singing her big hit, LIVE. Instead, I see something really WEIRD — so weird, in fact, that I'm not even sure what it is! Oh well, I'll just keep searching! :'-(

  • ALMOST LAUGHABLE AND CERTAINLY NOT LESLEY GORE!

  • its my party....

  • I can not beleave I found this. I never comment but this wiicked.I did not know she still performed! I may be young but I love this stuff.

  • This video was obviously not done at the same time as the audio! If so the back-up singers are singing without opening their mouths. Likewise, although Leslie is barely visible, she is obviously singing way off from the video. The recording sounds a lot like the original, as opposed to the new recording it purports to be.

  • This is Lesley singing a re-recorded version, but it looks as though she's lip syncing the song.

  • @Martywt43 - which "she is"

  • Seriously? No one realises that this isn't a live recording, and very obviously not Lesley Gore? That's almost unbelievable.

  • @BicycleSighs Yes, it IS Lesley singing..a pre-recorded version of It's My Party from the 1980s. Lesley went to Nashville, Tennessee and re-recorded six of her classics for an album titled Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee. It is a Japan only release. I have the album. Why didn't the poster of this video use the live audio?

  • I miss that song!!!!!

  • It's My Jihad Osama bin Laden

i have a parody of this song if you want to listen to it

copy and paste it the seach

    thanks

  • This is not Lesley Gore, it's someone singing her song because you can't see her face.

  • @shugg24 Yes, it IS Lesley Gore lip syncing a re-recorded version of It's My Party. See my other comment regarding this.

  • @shugg24 Yes, it is Lesley Gore...the audio is a pre-recorded song from the 1980s.

  • Dutch ;" het is mijn feest en ik huil wanneer ik wil"

  • Love the head shots.

  • i love those great set of lungs, old or new!

  • Yeah, she sounds AWESOME!

  • hawwt

  • I wish you played the actual performance of the older Gore instead of the old record.

  • I listen this song only in the radio... :D but it´s great... :D

  • How would they say this in Icelandic? Yiddish? Cajun?

Now, here is the title in Pennsylvania Dutch:

's iss my party un ich du vine-a wonn ich es du gleicha.

  • Polish (litteral):

To moja impreza i płaczę, kiedy mi się chcę

  • I've heard Polish and it sounds interesting.

    Cheshch!

  • French: "c'est ma fête et je pleure si je veux"

  • Pennsylvania dutch?

    Don't you mean Pennsylvania deutsch?

Cause it resembles german (which is called deutsch in german) and it's NOTHING like dutch :P

  • You are quite correct in that the dialect is descended from Southwest German, Alsatian, and Swiss dialects, but by far the greatest number of settlers came from the Pfalz, now Rheinland-Pfalz, in Germany.

Most folks know the descendants of these settlers as the Pennsylvania Dutch.

Now, in English until quite recently, Dutch could mean Netherlandish or German, and that's where the seeming discrepancy comes from.

Also, the old Netherlandish word for their language is Dietsch, which looks...

  • ...like Deitsch, the Pennsylvania Dutch word for, well, Pennsylvania Dutch, and Deutsch, the German word for German.

Now, here's where it gets a bit complicated. Modern Dutch, Netherlandish, is actually quite closely related to German, Pennsylvania Dutch, and even to English, but you are right in asserting that the Pennsylvania Dutch language did not come from Holland, it came from the Southerwestern part of the German language realm.

But the forefathers of the Pennsylvania Dutch actually...

  • journeyed through the Netherlands on their way to their new Pennsylvania home.

Thanks to the Amish and Old Order Mennonites, who account for perhaps only 10% of all the descendants of the Pennsylvania Dutch, the dialect will live on and on until Kingdom come, God willing.

I would be amiss if I didn't mention the fact that the Pennsylvania Dutch are all believing Christians. They are good people. Es gebbt nur en boor grumma.

There's only a few bad eggs.

  • Wow quite interesting :)

    Thanks for elaborating!

  • Too Funny and Lovely!!

  • loving this song!

  • guwno i kompletna hujnia

  • you can notice the have the singing music over the original that was cues in the end when she stops singing the voice continues.. other ways its a good song..

  • As far as I can tell, as a musician, the background arrangement is pretty faithful, all around, to the original 1963 Q.J. arrangement.

These days, though, the background arrangement she uses "in concert"allows her solo voice to really step/stand out, be up front, in your listening ears. The original arrangement had the background accompaniment on an equal par with her double tracked vocals.

  • For anyone who has actually heard Lesley sing "live" in the last 10 - 15 years will realize that her present voice is quite noticeably much, much richer, fuller, and expressive than in this particular soundtrack, which is closer to her voice's teenage sound of the '60's.

  • My sister's birthday song..!!love you foteinoula..

  • lol this video kind of made me horny

some1 help my pussy is wet ;] oh

  • you are full of shit goddamn it...

  • LOL!! HAHAAHAHAHAH :D

  • OMG.....sad and bad

  • The recording must be 10 or 20 years before this performance - and no one even attempted to sync the sound - it's so far off...c'mon!

  • Is that really her singing?

  • Yes, it's really Lesley singing, however, it is NOT a live. Lesley is performing live but the audio is a recording. Lesley re-recorded some of her hits in Nashville in the 1980s and that is the recording being played. The album she recorded is Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee.

  • Carol Hall's new cd features Lesley Gore singing a new song, Hungry For You

  • It's not Lesley who is the fraud....it's the poster of this video claiming it is a live performance. Somewhere else on youtube is the live audio of this performance with Stephen King.

  • w t f ?

  • it doesn't look like it is on time. like it's off. it doesn't even look like that the song they are doing. she doesn't sound like that anymore. I have heard her live. she sounds better.

  • It's not the song they're doing. In video,Lesley is singing live however, the audio is a recording being played. Audio is from lp titled: Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee. An import from Japan.

  • GREAT... FITHTIES FOREVER|||||

  • wtf?

  • This is live? It sounds studio quality!

  • it IS studio quality. It sounds like a little kid/teen sang the song.

  • You are correct. This is a studio recording playing to a live performance. The record is titled Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee. It is an import from Japan. I don't understand why the poster of the video didn't use the live audio.

  • It's old and played out

  • Booooo... Give me my money back!

  • A favorite song of mine from years ago.

  • This is a recording, it is on the very first cd I bought from Radio Shack....a re-recording of Lesley

  • Yes, it is a recording. It is from the original Japan released album: Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee. Lesley updated six of her songs; Bobby Vee updated six of his songs. Forget what year it was released.

  • Perhaps they used the YouTube "Remix" option? Just a guess.

  • No, they used a record titled: Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee. A Japanese import album. Lesley updated six of her big hits for that album. Search youtube and you will find the 'live' version of this video...featuring Stephen King.

  • If Lesley is still singing in 2007--I am happy for her

  • Yes, Lesley is still singing in 2007 and 2008! See her tour schedule at lesleygoredotcom.

  • This is live performance dubbed with studio recording!!

  • As previously stated, Lesley is NOT singing live here. The poster of this video is playing the recorded version of It's My Party from Lesley's Japan release titled: Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee. The original Rock Bottom Remainders performance is posted here on YouTube.

  • If she is singing live, she sounds exactly the same 0-0

  • No, Lesley is not singing live in this video. The song being played is from Lesley's Japan release album titled: Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee

  • No, Lesley is not singing live in this video. Someone else posted the Rock Bottom live version on youtube.

  • Someone posted a video of the Webster Hall concert segment with Lesley singing It's My Party. As of now it's on page one of youtube.

  • This does not appear to be a live performance of the song. It sounds like the version Lesley recorded for an album titled Forever Seventeen: Lesley Gore Meets Bobby Vee. It was an album released in Japan. Lesley's voice does not sound like that. THis is not Lesley's June 2007 voice.

  • somebody fix the sync!

  • LOL this is so fake. I just saw her last month live for five dollars. She wishes she could sound this good lol

  • MORE COWBELL!!!

  • Best Cow Bell I have ever heard!

  • Very nice!
