I always thought that Victory was declared at the end of the conflict, not after the initial thrust of the attacking force. Remember how this conflict ended, the Egyptian armies were split, surrounded and surrendered.

Without the threat of the USSR using Nukes, Isreal would have been in Cairo and Damascus.
Sharon's 143rd Armoured Division was attacking north on the Sam battery line and Adan's 162nd Armored Division was attacking south on the SAM battery line.
By taking out the SAM line Egpyt had no hope of victory.
Cairo would have fallen in no time, as most of Egpyt's armor force was across the Suez, and 1/2 of that was surrounded with the 3rd Army.

N the late 1800s, early 1900s, this land was N ruins b/c Muslims could have cared less about it. The Jews began 2 clean it up & rebuild the infrastructure which brought much-needed jobs 2 the area. Egypt had moderate objectives in the 1973 war:
Capture the entire east bank of the Suez Canal, hold it under SAM cover, open it for sailing and gain economic profits from it as a first step.
But at the end of combat, Israel had a small portion on the east bank and a large portion on the west.
The canal was still closed.
If the war was to continue, Egypt would lose more land,
since their 3rd army was trapped and they had no more long range SAM in the canal area.
Egypt's plan has failed.

Russian and american military experts both claimed that Egypt needs a nuclear bombs to destroy the isareli ber-leef line.. it was impossible to defeat that line, cuz it was on big high hills, and then if any egyptian boats came closer to it, israeli troops on border would destroy it.. After planning to attack Israel 4 over a year & a surprise attack, yes, Egypt made some great moves & won some great battles. However, after the Israelis got over their shock & got it together, I'm sorry, but the tables began to turn & the Israelis were winning. Y else would Egypt asked 4 a ceasefire? Actually after 14 days of the war, Israeli leaders completely failed to stop the egyptian attack and then they rushed to scream for Usa, for deep help,,, and that gap between egyptian troops sites and movements, was created by americans.. not israelis, and also some american soldiers associated with israeli army during that war... and On the whole line of canal, egyptian troops were settling.. and they were easily connected to each other

Israel had the entire third Egyptian army cut off, so I'm not sure how you think you won, especially with Egypt being the ones who asked for the ceasefire. There were no US troops there. LOL!!!!!

we destroyed more than 2000 israeli tanks during that war, do u think egyptian army were unable to destroy about 100 israeli tanks with some guns the ones who surrounded suez city?? The main reason why egyptian army didnt try to destroy them, the egyptian civilians in that city... was our cripple..as i said before, sharon who led that little troops , threatened to wipe the egyptian civilians out if egyptian army attacked... and that was much pressure.. its all.Its jews who begged for ceasefire.

U must have forgotten that it was Egypt who was begging for the ceasefire, not Israel. I'm not for either side, but truth is truth. Y would Egypt beg 4 a ceasefire if they were winning? Egypt won initial battles after the surprise attack on Israel's holiest day. After the Israelis got it together, they made an historical come back. Within a few miles of both country's capitals is not a small matter.

When the 1973 war ended on 26/10 Israel had more land west of Suez Canal than the Egyptians had on the east.
So between 06/10 and 26/10 Israel gained land and Egypt lost land.
The status on 26/10/1973 was:
Egyptians forces in the canal area were exposed to Israeli air strikes unlike the air superior Israelis.
30,000 Egyptian troops were encircled with no access to drinking water.
Egypt begged desperately for a cease fire while Israel wanted to continue the fight.
So who won that war ?

LOL! The US didn't come to fight for Israel. The Soviets were threatening to fight 4 Egypt but the US said, no, we weren't going to get N2 WWIII. Had the US really gone 2 fight 4 Israel, the Soviets would have been right there, 2. It was always Israel's intention to trade land 4 peace b/c peace is what Israel has always wanted but Arabs have always said "no land for peace." So giving back the sinai 4 peace with Egypt was a huge accomplishment 4 Israel since that was what they wanted.
