Bubble wrap kinda defeats the purpose of the downdraft table. I use a low angle jack plane to clean up the figured woods. Nice job though. You have a hell of a shop.

Thanks. But I don't actually have a downdraft table, so the bubble wrap works well. I can see how it might create problems if you did have a downdraft though, lol.

i use a camping mat myself, for only a few dollar it covers most of my bench, i have both kinds a thin one thats only 3/4 thick and one that is textured deep foam

I use a piece of scrap carpet to put under my wood while sanding, bubble wrap sounds like a good trick as well
