  • @EvilPrinceVegeta99 stretch or stretch more

  • flexipitch

  • @EvilPrinceVegeta99 its probably the way u throw

  • @EvilPrinceVegeta99 hurts like you have been working out or hurt like you got punched by kimboslice?

  • Teams in london? Anything near south west? I would love to play baseball.

  • everyone thinks that this arm action is correct, and they teach it to everyone. i hate it ! i don't recommend learning how to pitch from expert village. no affence but its generic and incorrect.

  • @SharkAttackProd you think this is incorrect? Mike Lumley the guy in this video was on the 40 man roster for the Detroit tigers for pitching i dont think this is incorrect buddy

  • @GrandmaDropShotz man tht is sooo tru.

  • @gasstarcraft i trained with him because i use to play for the london badgers and he runs the whole orginization so he works with me a lot

  • Thank u, my son has natural talent but I never played much and I'm reluctant to tell him how to pitch and cause him to have bad form because I don't know what I'm doing.

  • Good basics!

  • i have that same exact glove and im TWELVE

  • Generally as a lefty pitcher myself, In my pitching motion I tend to lean back just a little bit when I bring my leg up.

Since I have an extremely nasty natural curve thats what I do to make sure that my pitch goes in the right spot.

  • @bloodrein54 thats called tipping your pitches. once you get to a higher level team will pick that up and no when your curve is coming. so you might want to work on that

  • stand up for fuck sakes

  • @8aoh its an upper body excercize so u dont have the follow through of legs as a factor. for full body u stand up

  • this guy shows proper technique in throwing, good arm loop up to a high angle then releasing the ball out in front of yourself, most arm problems come from dragging your elbow or shoulder threw the hole trying to force it out in front instead of coming to a high angle and naturally coming out in front

  • Facing the ball away from you, as this person demonstrates, increases the risk of elbow problems.

  • weird sound when you catch the baseball

  • alright i gotta make a video cause this guy is not showing it right trust me, ive been trained by a minor league baseball player for the DiamondBack Dan Taylor you can look him up he went to Central Michigan University and went to Jension High School in Husonville and Dan Taylor has really changed my pitching skills to being crappy into being a great pitcher i went from a 45mph just in 3 months i hit 76mph

  • Eh.. I hate it when people teach the arm circle. Do you ever see a pro ball player do that? no. It's like cracking a whip. You need to have a quick change in direction. Do you crack a whip in a circular motion? No...

  • @TheKnightlyrida its...baseball.not rodeo.

  • @TheKnightlyrida the circular motion helps build momentum to the "crack of the whip" it also makes sure your arms in the right position, its difficult to go straight from closed hands to a tall position above your head with out the circle and still throw the ball hard

  • hello friend as I can be your friend for me to explain some things to grab me for a mechanical failure good I'm from the Dominican Republic I'm shooting right pitcher has 92 miles mi msn es adalwin45@

  • this is a good drill for every player, not only pitchers. I played outfield/corner infield/second base in high school, i still had to do this drill every single day.

  • Do not teach players and pitchers to bring the ball back and up. Keep the ball below your shoulders for quickness, arm health, and hiding the ball.

  • Not bad... Elbows up..Dont rotate until front foot lands.... see GeorgiaSportsAcademy videos on youtube

  • pitchers are not athletes

learn to bat like i teach instead

  • @ronbach44 way to show everyone your an idiot

  • dont tuck the glove fall into it tucking can lead to arm problems

  • @KillerP7anda the same thing happens to me

I through out my arm while throwing at a fence[like 250 pitches]. Then it healed. And now i cant even throw while playing catch, i throw in the dirt or over their heads

    Idk wdf happend D:

  • wow that helped i can like strike out like 4 guys in a row

  • haha the kids in the back couldnt throw and catch for shitt

  • Just last week my arm just somehow had forgotten how to throw a ball. I don't try to aim it, I dont think about it, I just try to throw the ball but it ends up going everywhere else but to my target. Example: one hop, over the guys head, or sometimes nowhere near him.

    Do you have any suggestions?

  • @Ajmasterb12 the exact same thing happened to me... i struck out 15 kids in one game and 3 days after the game i had another one and i somehow forgotten how to pitch

  • meanwhile he is catching the ball with one hand...

  • While he is right about staying straight with your chin, I don't like some of his mechanics, especially the high release point. I feel that the ball should be head high and seem to come out of your chest.

  • smh buncha kids lyin about who fast they throw lol

  • dand i throw 75 and im 13

  • Great video for little coaches to teach he has all the upper body mechanics down, you kids that throw 70's that's a good starting point at 15 for high school but sorry it won't get you past high school. Mid 80's for leftys and 90's for right handers is what division 1 colleges look for.

  • im not even lying, but....

im 14 bout to turn 15 in march and i live in Canada.I throw 70mph

someone please reply to me please i really want to know!

    thanks y'all

  • im 12 and i throw 70mph

  • thanks for da tip

  • uhhh why are you on your knee nobody pitches from knee also why would you fully extend your arm it should be tucked not fully extended

  • @slanham12..how dumb are you,if u knew anything about baseball you would no that throwing from ur knee help with mechanics and u are supposed to extend ur arm all the way..dont try and act like u know what ur talking about

  • Ahh man brother. The guys form was perfect. Yes, he was teaching good mechanics, specifically upper body mechanics.

  • No shit shit, it takes the upper body and the lover body to be both in sinc in be a good pitcher. This drill stresses the upper body mechanics. His form was ferfect. You should stick to soccer.

  • @slanham12 you have no fucking clue what your talking about, go actually play the game for once.

  • There are many good tips on youtube. Yet, if you are looking for something that will aid you in your quest towards improvement, check out ... search-("The Keys to Learning Movement" trailer 2010)-

It's impossible to do...I've tried. It looks like a DVD is coming out in the spring.

  • Pulling the glove is completely wrong because it cuts your release point short. The accurate way is to squeeze the glove to your gloveside hip. This will get you full extension. why are you on ur knee?? you certainly don't pitch in a game from 1 knee. Name me one pitcher that pauses while there arm is cocked back in there delivery. These are useless eyewash drills. I am truly concerned, because everything you teach is wrong. Pitching is explosive and athletic.

  • couldnt agree more, this is terrible. learn pitching from dick mills everyone, not this bum.

  • It a drill. Many pitching coaches teach this drill. I teach it a litle different but he does a decent job. You dont just start pitching you must learn the proper mechanics first. Just liike hitting you dont start taking BP before you learn how to hit off a tee.

  • no your wrong, you squeeze the glove under your arm it

  • This guy should be arreseted for stealing money.

  • a kid here in Austin, Texas is 16 and throws 103 mph

  • im 14 and throw 75

  • iam 16 throwing about 83mph ahah

  • Thats not bad at all , its actually pretty decent .

My friend ricky is 16 and throughs 86 . its good. hes just gotta learn how to not walk people haha

  • i like to spread out my arm wen im pitchin like if i was a qb throwing a football lo it helps me out a lot

  • i throw bout 52 and im 12

  • is youtube for 14 years old only? on all the pitching vids i see 14year olds saying they can throw 70-80mph prob means 70 meters per hour

  • HAHA mph doesn't mean meters per hour you retard. It means MILES per hour. Who the hell Measures in meters anyways???

  • everyone else besides America.

  • hey stupid he means 14 year old aret supposed to throw that fast. i'm 14 i can throw prob in the low to mid 40s

  • everybody but the u.s.a dumass

  • Im Canadian, and I have never heard of Meters Per Hour.

  • almost every where besides the untied states

  • i throw 71 mph and im 14 :)

  • u should put a video on youtube then!

  • i never liked drills like this one bcuz (and i know it sounds wierd to some of u) but u pitch with ur legs not with ur arm ill argue that with neone now yes u MUST condition the rotator cuff so that ur arm wont get hurt.. but if u want to get ur velocity and stamina up u need to run about 1 or 2 miles a day atleast

  • soooo true

  • I understand drills and Im sure this one works for some people, but I never really felt the benefits.

I get the purpose but when your legs are involved it changes the momentum created towards the arm and it feels like you are learning a different type of throw. That is just me though. Youve gotta create a rhythm and feel in your own sense. Plus my arm always hits my knee on this one haha.

  • hey, check out usabaseballtube. Strictly for baseball players to showcase their skills!

  • does this guy think we are all retarded??? im pretty sure everyones coach has told them how to do this already

  • i once pitched at 95 but that was back in my senior season

  • 1.copy and paste

    4.LOOK AT YOUR BACKGROUD,FREAKY!

  • i can throw 84 but I throw too many balls

  • fuckin liar

  • This guy teaches correctly. You guys are all dumb asses for saying this is wrong. This is the proper way to learn balance during you're throw and follow-through.

  • the highest speed ive pitched was 81 and im in highschool...not bad ey? :)

  • fuck u and quit bragging. ur probably bs

  • you suck< ey!

  • thats really gay

  • i play travel baseball and i pitch 45 to 50

  • im ten pitching 45 to 50

  • im 9 and a 1/2 pitching 45-50..........

  • isnt it bed time?

  • lmao haha

  • im 12 and pitch 60-70 im travel too. my friend can pitch like up to 75 or somethin

  • whatever

  • he clearly knows what hes talking about. i mean mechanics are the key thing before you can take the mound. hes teaching the right way. the only thing i disagree with is that u should pitch the way your comfortable with the right mechanics. but besides that hes right

  • To the people that said this guy isnt teaching correctly, yall are wrong. You need mechanics before you can pitch. Its all about mechanics and this is a great drill to get your mechanics working. You also don't bend you back or "sway" as he says it. I used to sway and i would always through it high or left. SO this guy is pretty smart. As a pitcher for th Indianapolis Indians, I recmooned this drill and these teachings. BTW watch the video on my channel of my son wrestling. anyways good pitching

  • im listening to my dad with the pitching

  • no you dont pull glove in thats one of the most mistaught things in baseball. You each the glove out thumb down and then bring your chest to the glove. not glove in. this brings you closer to the target and also prevents you from flying open. Chest to the glove try it in slow motion and you will see how much closer to the target you can be this way then when you pull the glove in. look at your release point

  • Comment removed

  • yeah thanks dude next time ill pitch from my knees

  • hes teaching mechanics if you check his other videos hes standing.

  • your an idiot

  • this is true, if you bend your back you get that extra speed than you would if you dont.

  • this is not hhow u pitch. u dont bend ur back cuz its just gonna make u throw down into the ground. and dont pull ur glove in because if your moving foreward while you pitch which u should then ur gonna go to the glove. dont follow this way.

  • I think you are just a little kid who doesn't know what he's talking about!

YOU DON'T PITCH WITH YOUR BACK STRAIGHT! YOU BEND YOUR BACK AS YOU RELEASE THE BALL, NOT WHILE!

  • I'm sorry? What was that last thing you said? Are you getting cocky? What is a cock sucker, too?-Or did you just make it up?

I was just telling the kid correctly! I wasn't being rude, so don't give me s*it!

  • u dont know wut a cock sucker is? thats wierd because i think someone like you would be very familiar with sucking on cocks. and i dont care if u were trying to be rude or not, because you shouldnt talk about things u know nothing about.

  • I know nothing about? How fast could you pitch at age 13, and how fast can you pitch now as an adult?

  • now i can pitch 75-80.

  • I don't remember if I was 13 during this, but I remember being able to pitch 83 once... And Now I'm not sure how fast I can pitch, but how fast you can pitch doesn't matter... I guess it's how good you can pitch, right?... The only ones really I can do well is the fastball, moon-break, and curveball... I actually started at 13... But, I'm still learning... So sorry for getting smart... I guess it was just because I want to think I already know everything, but that is wrong...

  • i can throw 67 and im 12 :

  • That's nice!

  • i know, but when i do it too much, my arm goes to hell

  • so like do u stop throwing when ur arm starts hurting?

  • i don't throw like this, i don't turn my arm over my chest, i throw so my arm goes down after the ball is released

  • ya my friend told me i was pitching shitty cuz my arm was crossing over my chest like this guy. Are you supposed to release and swing your arm down to your side or something?

  • prove it.

  • This pracitces follow through. It deals very much with pitching although he is on a knee.

  • To the people that said this guy isnt teaching correctly, yall are wrong. You need mechanics before you can pitch. Its all about mechanics and this is a great drill to get your mechanics working. As a pitcher for UHD, I would recommend this drill.

  • why wont he freaking get up

  • @guachupita809 If you keep watching it, he will get up. Just keep watching it. It'll happen.

  • dude get on ur feet a pitch u dont pitch on ur knees ...... D:

  • and*

  • How he throws makes no sense when you're talking about actual pitching since you use your legs when you do so.

Oh, and the catcher's legs are spread apart way too far.

  • well if it hits his ... it will be his own fault xD

  • so is your moms

  • Mike Lumley is the coach of the Western Mustangs baseball team in London, ON.

  • YO is this video shot in London Ontario

  • This is more of the wasted time that is spent in "isolation" drills instead of actually pitching off the mound. Did you also notice how far to his right he was relative to the mound to thow a ball in front of home plate? What does that tell you? If he was wher he had to be, the throw would have been 4 ft to the catcher's right

  • His talk about left or right makes no sense without discussing stride, since it will be the lower body's stride, along with the strength of a pitcher's core that will determine a pitcher's ability to maintain stabalization of the upper body prior to release and follow through after release.

  • Never talks about the importance of "pronating" after release, that's a big mistake. Also, these type of drills may have some limited use for those who are just beginning to learn how to pitch, but pitching is about generating kinetic energy from the ground up and doing so sequentially. You can't isolate the lower body from the upper body...you must practice in the same sequence as the skill is needed in actual pitching.

  • Mike,

When you watch better MLB Pitchers, you see their Glove Hand initially move away from their Body and also stay above their Chest throughout their motion. These Top Flight MLB Pitchers display much more linear rotation than in the separation you present in this video.

Add these teachable skills to your instructional routine and you'll see your Pitching Students show more improvement in less than time than your ever thought possible.
