you're taking it out of context of reality. this is quite an old interview. at the time this was filmed corey obviously wasn't too sure about the future of slipknot. now that we're in 2011 slipknot has evolved and the individual members may feel differently about some of what they said in the past. and even though now corey is once again questioning the future of the band the reasons are far less "petty" (for lack of a better word).

Having small strokes from screaming too hard, i.e- too much pressure on the brain can cause (potential) blindness.
Same goes for singing. Over stressing the vocal chords can cause huge damage to the tissue.
Screaming almost every day for years isn't really a good idea.

@sprayboy666 based on what they've said in the past, this is the end. Slipknot was more than just a band for them. It will surprise me if they ever get back together. I'm not sure I want them to replace Paul, it just wouldn't seem right

I think that if they find the right person (meaning someone who was really tight with the whole group from the beginning), they could pull it off. It's hard to see Paul being replaced, but if anyone could do it, I think Shawn Economaki could...

@CourtJackal001 I know, man, I know this as well as anyone else. But the selfish Maggot in me wants them to find a way to carry on for at least one more album. And who better to fill that terrible void than someone they've known just as long? That's all I was saying....I know I'm not alone on this, but Slipknot NEEDS to continue, but they obviously need time...which is better than A7X all but shrugging Rev's death aside when finishing "Nightmare." btw, Mike Portnoy rules!

@CorpseGrinder2010, I agree. I was surprised about the stuff A7X said in a magazine article about recording the album. The first few weeks they were upset but then they became more upbeat (although, to their credit, they did feel guilty about it).

@CorpseGrinder2010 They didn't shrug Rev's death aside. They delivered what the fans wanted all the while honoring Jimmy at every show. Implying that they didn't care about the death after they got Portnoy is just an asshole thing to say. Obviously any band can replace a member, while it wont be the same without Paul or the Rev, Paul wasn't that great of a bassist and is replaceable.(Not putting him down) The Rev was a good drummer but Portnoy is better than him and he is replaceable as well.RIP

@A7XNJ I don't recall saying they shrugged off his death, and if that's how I came across (I can't seem to find my response you're replying to) I apologize. Both bands kickass, and both bands lost key members. But I do agree with you in saying that both members ARE replaceable. But now, it's become apparent that Slipknot has no desire to replace Paul and continue as an octet. That's fine I suppose, give one of the accessory members something more productive to do onstage.

Not to replace Paul, but to have a completely different mask and possible different number (I guess it'd have to be 9 if not 2, huh?) Very good news in an otherwise shitty situation. Besides, Avenged Sevenfold seems to be doing okay without the Rev, maybe Slipknot can still be Slipknot without Paul (R.I.P.!!!)
