Too bad...I consider Gerber to be a hypocrite (when interviewed before the films release, he gushed ceaselessly over it, now admits to having lied) and the artwork and amusing storylines in the Mantlo issues to be wonderful spoof/parody material...to each his own.

actually, i am a major fan of the comic when done by his creator steve gerber, the movie is close in tone to the comics by bill mantlo, which are considered by many to be garbage
