No they played it. Its debut was the night before at Colston Hall, this was the second time they played it. You are allowed to play songs before an album is released you know haha. Stairway was played live for several months before the release of IV.

I think you will find in nearly every archive and the setlist from this show that this was the songs debut night to the public. The recording has never surfaced but the one from the 10th at some other place has and its amazing.

I know its a subjective thing, but this version if my favorite. Very fast, raw and energetic. You can tell this is them in their very early days.

I have a version that is 3:50 long, but you hear it all the way up until the tape runs off, literally. And audio is as clear as it is on the DVD.
