  • This thing sounds great, man. I just finished my SP swap on my '96 and it has a completely different sounds to it. Next is exhaust and rear end. Happy modding, bro!

  • How much HP does this beast put out?

  • @Rsoe91 around 255HP. I sold the motor to my little bro and he ran it on the car dyno. Thats what she pulled.

  • Been dong some research on this, I have a 96 with a bad 3.8. With the cost of buying a new motor (i have to get the 4.6) and all the harness and computer and everything else needed to make it work, you can put that same money into the 6 and put out killer power. Guys wants 2500 to put in another stock v6 with 100,000 for 3500 I can do a complete rebuild (read..0 miles!!!) with a 4.2 stroker, split port heads, windstar intake, pulleys and a tune and run 400 hp

  • @jacelippert plus I'm a lot lighter without the v8. And a factory 5.0 block is good for about 550hp, the 3.8 stock block has been run over 700hp with boost. I'm not a v8 hater...had a 428 small block in a Ranger, but for the same amount to swap in a stock v8, you can have one kick ass six...stop hating, build your car your way, let me build mine my way, just let me know which one is urs in my rear view...

  • @jacelippert Have you installed your 4.2 crank yet? I've heard there might be some durability problems with it. How's yours going?

  • Where did you get your 3.8 emblem from???

  • What type of hed work did you do? and how much did it cost you?

I have a 96 3.8l and im looking for the deepest sound I can get.

  • @Thepear126 ,, heads have been decked and gasket matched. I put a split port swap on with a cam and a tune. My whole set up ran me around $2200. The exhaust will play a big part in it. pipe size, h-pipe or x-pipe and mufflers..

  • hey i have a 3.8 96 mustang...i have a duel flowmaster exhaust with headers n i want a louder deeper soun like urs....ca u tell me wat u have for a set up?

  • Really all It has is race 40s with the stock pipe size (2") no h-pipe...Now the motor has some head work done. That might be why it's deeper...

  • im 16 and just bought my first car a 95 v6mustang , what did u add to this car and any tips ?

  • 1st is it an auto or stick?? Any way you need some gears.. 3.73 for an stick and 4.10s for an auto.. Get some O2 sims and puy some exhaust for Jegs use the house name stuff "it's cheep"

  • its auto

  • Also a SCT programmer will help out big time!!!

  • Thanks for the info , i'll keep you updated !

  • did you dyno or are you just guessing im in the works of a split port plus cam and i was wondering what i would be gettin

  • no dyno..but.. it went from a 15.5 to a 14.6 with this stuff..."Kansas!!"

  • why does everyone want to say swap to a v8 you lazy mother fuckers hey so lets everyone have a 4.6 an be kool huh maybe cause your v8 is left out getting stomped by a v6 im doing 4.2L with m90blower swap and guess what on a v6 boys thats 300hp an more with my cam an such also mention 420lbs of torque :)

  • sixes are okay, i had a 94 but they are limited. at least the v8 has more power out of the factory to start with. the v8s are more nose heavy. plus the sound of 8 cylinders is addicting.

  • Comment removed

  • Just a couple more bolt on's and your V6 will eat V8's.

Whats the point of having a V8 if its not the Corvette or Ford GT?

I have a Camaro RS and I have owned a few V8's and I think its pointless to have a V8 if you wanna be diffrent.

I've ran against many V8's in my V6 and you know the only Mustang that has ever given me a run for my money was a V6.

  • why even have a GT ? they are not all that. a 96 GT only has 215hp. my sc 3.8 kicks out around 280hp and is in the 13s in the 1/4 mile. i have raced many GTs and walked from them. the only GT that gave me a run was a 05 and it was bumper to bumper dead even.

  • man a 4.6 aint that much for a 8 so just trade in

  • Not around here. My v6 eat most v8s "Mustangs". "KANSAS" Great Bend, my v6 ran 14.6 at 96mph with 2.05 60's on street tires.

  • you pull up at a light next to a real mustang, that thing will get eaten alive on the street.

  • for a v6 sounds decent at idle...i had a 96 gt, im not tryin to hate on you but you really oughtta save your cash and put it into a v8, it seems like thats what you are trying to duplicate anyhow.

  • well the v8 isnt that much faster than a 6 w/ the split port swap. if he puts on a windstar intake hes actually looking at more ponies than your gt.

  • Sounds badass

  • nice sound...hopefully ill have the whole motor in mine soon...besides the cam and the swap what else did u do to the motor

  • Nothing really, Its all stock parts, but the cam. Heads and intake are stock for a 00 the cam is custom well I had to put a SCT programmer on it the 96 stock computer didn't like the cam and the more air flow + fuel. Thats it, I am getn' ready to make a 3.8 stroker.

  • Sounds Great!

  • trying to find me a better cam so i can give u all more. I just broke my rear end "7.5 don't like drag rads" so i have to put in a 8.8 rear end out of a 95 or better. "STAY TUNED MORE TO COME" Thanks.

  • If you don't mind me asking what are the specs for the cam??

  • that sounds amazing for a six at first i thought it was a v8 looking at the front because of the fog lights and sound

  • cool

  • COMPRATE UNA CAMARA QUE NO HAGA RUIDO

  • That sounds amazing!! What have you done with that sixer?!?!?

  • Is that the sweet sweet sound of a cam I hear?

Awesome car man. What setup are running?

  • Thing sounds awesome for a 6cyl. Next time man, plug in an auxiliary mike and make the video, the audio will sound even better! I would love to hear that motor with a high quality microphone attached to your camera.

  • 3.8 high performance....cute haha

  • YES!!! Its high performance. How about this 240hp with stock FORD parts. NO i.m not lying. Just ask darkstar2002 He runs the camera,

  • ok thats still not even stock hp of that same yr v8. but w/e dude your car

  • Yes its actually more than the V8. The V8 of that year produced i believe between 215 and 225 im not sure which....they didnt get up to 260 until 99 which is when they got the pi heads and intake. 240 is still impressive because the 2010 V6 is only rated at 210.

  • what? i dnt think so man. 215-225 hp thats too low. your probably thinking about the 5.0's. the 4.6s put out more than that. and dont get me wrong, thats a decent v6. (i had the exact same thing). but why put all tht money into a v6 instead of jus starting out with a v8.

  • The V8 of the 96-97 mustangs produced only 215 and the 98 produced 225. I am absolutly positive about it. They were very underpowered. And i guess thats what hes into idc really its his decision. Me personally i wouldnt go for a V6 especially of that year. Those were terrible with bad head gaskets and only produced 145-150 hp stock!!

  • True... It started out to be a car for my wife...I had a 83 conv with a 5 speed with some mods.. The 6er would keep up untill i went into 3rd... BUT I put gears in and some exhaust work and a tune the dame thing out ran me!!! So i sold the 83 and gave her a truck!!!!! Hahaha!!!

  • If you all want to hear more of my car check out darkstar2002 videos the v6 that he has is mine.

  • that sounds real nice. Yea about the pistons bein good for 20lbs.. maybe so but the rods sure arent cause i definately bent one at about 16lbs and i only hit 16 a couple of times at best. the engine shop even said the 3.8 blocks are strong but the rods are too weak to handle all the boost. So thats why im goin with all the forged internal parts. i cant wait to here it with the new cam too. supposedly im supposed to be gettin it back near the end of this week, i cant wait lol

  • did you get the spilt port from your local ford dealership? if so, how much did it cost? I'm looking to swap my intake for the ones on the newer mustangs. sounds really awesome.

  • Yea i want to know too, how much did the swap cost you?

  • It cost around $2100.00,but you can find the heads and intakes out of a junk yard. You will need everything off of a 00 3.8, all upper motor "some rewiring needed"
