I would like to point out to you that the kjv came from out of the 1599 Geneva translation. It's was changed because The King decided he didn't agree with or like the 1599 Geneva's foot notes. So if ya really want a true accurate translation it would be the 1599 Geneva.
the footnotes were left out because they weren't inspired. I see no problem with this omission, and in fact see a lot of logic in these words being removed.
The KJV also italacised the words that weren't in the original text but added for clarification, and were far more accurate to the original text. From that alone the KJV is a far more trustworthy bible.

EASTER is pagan....this calendar (roman calendar) we use today is pagan..and in the time of Christ, roman's believed in ishtar (easter)...but this pagan holiday coincides with Judeo-Christian passover....is it wrong ...no it is not wrong!...just incidental to the time that Christ lived in....both are correct!...i could be wrong but I don't think this makes NIV heretical!

I would like to point out to you that the kjv came from out of the 1599 Geneva translation. It's was changed because The King decided he didn't agree with or like the 1599 Geneva's foot notes. So if ya really want a true accurate translation it would be the 1599 Geneva.

the footnotes were left out because they weren't inspired. I see no problem with this omission, and in fact see a lot of logic in these words being removed.
The KJV also italacised the words that weren't in the original text but added for clarification, and were far more accurate to the original text. From that alone the KJV is a far more trustworthy bible.
I wouldn't burn a Geneva Bible though... an NIV on the other hand, well and truly worth introducing to the fire!

Although i do believe people should be on guard against changes in the bible that will change important doctorines, there are some is one thing in this video that i don't agree with. This is the changing of easter to passover. Passover in the old testement pointed to what Jesus did on the cross which happened during the Passover.

Yes but when you say they are influence by a greater power, you come to the pre-conception that a God exists. I am a naturalist and everything that happen to me is based on the laws of physics, laws of gravity, etc. Does that mean God has influenced me in anyway. I use logic and reasoning to sort out problems that seem like the supernatural, and there is always a natural explanation. Even if their wasn't any, I wouldn't jump to conclusions (The God of the gaps).

If the bible is your authority, then you haven't made the choice. God has made it for you. If he can percieve the past, present, and future (him being omniprescence) then everything is set in stone, and I have no free will. Another problem is God being all powerful (omnipotent). Is your God so weak as to not be able to prove to me (In a way I would accept AKA meeting my standards) that he is in fact real? What about the other religions? They all claim to be the one true path.

There are two formss of easter. The pagan one, in honor of Ishtar. Then there is the Passover, in honor of Jesus Christ. The pope Gregor, changed the calendar, to make the day of Ishtar, fit in with the Christian celebration of Passover, and hijacked it. Now, whenever passover falls on easter sunday, it is moved one week.

The Bible is not Pre Christ at all. Jesus Christ is the Creator. The Lamb, that was slaughtered was a symbol of Jesus Christs ministry here on earth 2000 years ago. It is a matter of redemption and salvation. I do not know all of it either. :)

To decide what version is better one has to bring the original language in which the bible was written and then study all the uses of the words in the original language, and then translate with the more appropriate word. It's not how old a translation is or if it matches our interpretation that decides which transl. is better.

You should all get yourselves a copy of the out of print Jerusalem bible, not the new version, but the original.
The Roman catholic church authorized this translation direct from the original Hebrew and pre Consantinian Greek.
The Roman church did not like the results so they rejected it's use.
The bible is out of print because it showed the major deficeinces of the vulgate, which the Roman church stands upon.

I forget what verse it was but I have an NIV and my pastor was reading from KJV. It was one of those areas in the Bible where Jesus said someone's name twice (ie, "Mary, Mary") and the name was only repeated once in the NIV :(.

After eastern Germany was created they published a lot of heavily altered bibles (basicly removed everything conflicting Marxism). One last comment: all those scriptures that are omitted in some Bibles are NOT in a lot of the oldest manuscripts....that's why modern-day, accurate translations, such as the New World Translation OMIT THEM!
