  • I used to have a 2002 Sebring. The engine died at 84,000 miles. Every single mechanic i went to said to get rid of it because it was possibly the worst engine ever built... they were right..

  • felt this pain, better half had a 00 trepid 60K mi it spun a bearing. dealer said it was her fault ditched the POS n got my better half a grand am gt instead, the 3400V6 is a tough motor specially hers, i got her the ram air one

  • I too got screw by this junk of an engine.NEVER will I buy another Chrysler!!!!

  • 2.7 is fucken JUCK

  • Every car builder has it's Achilles Heel...The 2.7L DOHC was Chryslers...

  • Chrysler junk.

  • I saw the video of the knocking engine at 34 seconds. That car has 144,000 miles on it. Your video is a bit of a fraud.

  • Funny, I seen 2.7's with up to 300,00 miles. I've been impressed how nicely the 2.7 Intrepids go. Also lots of Chargers and Magnums with 2.7's and no problems. Owned lots of Toyotas, but my 2 Dodges have been the best vehicles ever! I use Mobil one .

  • @formerice they fixed the problem after 02, my better half got burned by a dodge dealer, it was an intrepid 2.7, with only 64,000 mi. i had ALL my service records, and a carfax that shows it had been hit and they didnt tell her, they still said we didnt change oil...your fault, so i looked all this up i found the sludge would plug oil returns that werent big enough ...i was gearin up to sue them and the finance company dropped it called it "deemed uncollectable"

  • @CBRHurricane6 It wouldn't have mattered anyway. Now that Chrysler's already filed for bankruptcy and reformed under the new Chrysler moniker, your lawsuits and thousands of others like it would've been dropped.

  • @blinkfan305 most likely, i would have had a better shot at the dealer if i had even pushed, but i just said screw chrysler altogether bought a GM and things have been great, if you told me 4 years ago id actually enjoy a grand am GT after my last 3 cars were a 78 ford f250, an 87 Monte SS, And An 86 Iroc, i woulda called you crazy, but that 3400 with the ram air is enough to be fun but not be a pull-over magnet

  • @formerice my dodge magnum 07 2.7l 40.000miles and is on junkyard now. they sucks

  • The transmission's are worse than the engines!

  • garbage

  • pure garbage now you can understand why people are buying kia. at least you know the truth that their junk.

  • Comment removed

  • @dolo167 im not saying id buy one but Hyundai/Kia are good cars and 10 times better than anything chrysler could ever make, and i bet if one of their engines failed at 50,000 miles under warrenty (which it wouldnt because they arent pieces of shit like chrylser) i know they would replace it, they have the best warrentys in the buisness

  • The 2.7 is a bad motor even with the improvements. It is possible to make them last with frequent oil changes and also making sure you have the right type of OEM coolant. Any water leak internally and good bye motor. The first couple years of the 2.7 were especailly bad. I'd avoid Chrysler due to a number of issues with them. The 2.7 a Chrysler engine. The A604 is a weak transmission also.

  • @syyenergy7 I had to use Honda coolant in a GM car when the dex cool went bad. solved problems.

  • the 2.7L that had the sludge problem and the 2.7L in the magnum, charger and 300 are different. Oil passages were redesigned. I've got an 06' magnum with 218,876 on the clock and have not yet had to do anything besides tie rod ends, an egr valve and regular maint.

  • Talk about a sludge bucket.....That's what those heads look like without the valve cover's on..

  • ALSO According to my research, the 2.7 was Chrysler designed and produced. The 3.2 I'm not sure about. The 3.3 was Chrysler designed and produced to replace the Mitsubishi 3.0. The 3.5 is a SOHC advancement of the 3.3 designed by Chrysler, which was originally OHV. As far as I can tell, there have never been Mitsubishi engines in the Dodge Intrepid.

  • @drummerboy1692 3.2 was merc benz

  • @mikeluscher159 The 3.2 and 2.7 v6 engines are the only two options for my 1999 Dodge Intrepid.

  • I have a 1999 Intrepid with the 2.7 in it at 150k miles, and guess what... No engine malfunctions. Also, the coolant in my car (as you might have seen in yours as well), is pink. This coolant is designed to last up to 150k miles. It's engineered so that it solidifies when it comes into contact with air, plugging any minor leaks. If you've seen any white powder buildup around any coolant hoses or other passages, not to worry, it's just the coolant doing its job.

  • @drummerboy1692 u sure its not buildup of calcium from lack of coolent changes, u r supposed to change coolant every 5 yrs 40k on ANY CAR, andif it solidifies with air, itll all solidify if u take of the overflow bottle cover or rad cap, thats just stupid

  • @mikeluscher159 No I'm certain that that is what it is from. If you remember the Dexcool from GM, it's a similar concept. It was engineered to do the same thing. You will not need to flush your coolant system until 150k miles with this stuff.

  • @drummerboy1692 its just the coolant leaking out of the hose indicating your in need of a new hose and it creates calcium build up, thats the white shit.

  • @chevyblows2001 Not every coolant is engineered the same. Look it up if you'd like. Every coolant system will leak eventually, and the coolant engineered by Mopar is designed to plug very small leaks when it does (hence the minor buildup). It is still manufacturer recommended to not change the coolant before 140k miles. I've worked on this before, took the classes, done the research, and completed my ASEs. Believe me when I say that I'm 100% confident that I know what I'm talking about.

  • This engine was made by MITSUBISHI; the WATER PUMP is on the INSIDE of the motor. When it FAILS, WATER leaks into the oil, EMULSIFYING it, causing it to turn to goo. Each week, check under the OIL FILL CAP, and MAKE SURE there is NO grey condensation; if there IS, you have a PROBLEM. Change your oil frequently, and NEVER flush the cooling system; only drain & fill. ALWAYS use a cooling system conditioner afterwards...

    Hope this helps.

  • @BlueHeavenBound I know your post is old....but this engine did just that to me.LUCKILY I caught it early doing just what you said.

  • We should all chip in and create a national add thanking chrysler for the motor and use all the videos we can gather to form a compilation that would get some ones attention

  • @americ911 I would be interested in that..I got plently of videos and pics

  • @americ911 Sounds good...I want in..Fuck cry-slur...My car did the same shit as in this video but louder..got dodge stratus and it is such a piece of shit. FUCK CHRYSLER AND ANYONE WHO WORKS FOR THAT SHITTY COMPANY. THE NAME OF THE COMPANY SHOULD BE RECALL!!!

  • @skinebo420 hey mine makes loud sound like that to what did u do to fix it? cost? or did u just sell?

  • @flopez425 honestly man, we contacted the cry-slur! company because we heard the engines on these cars had a recall on them...and they had to send us a new one....put the new engine in and its just as shitty.....i traded it in be4 the new engine fucked up on me..which i can tell it was going to soon....if u want to fix maybe its just a head gasket....i would have to hear it or you gotta tell me more about whats wrong with it other than the noise.

  • Could it be possible to improve the crankcase ventilation on these engines with a larger PCV valve and run Marvel Mystery Oil 1 quart out of 5? Sludge is caused by inadequate crankcase ventilation and it seems to happen more on recent model cars and not just Chrysler 2.7s. Improve ventilation and use the Marvel or Rislone Engine Treatment anything to combat sludge formation. Even do a 5 Minute Flush by Rislone starting with the first oil change and every one after that.

  • What shocks me is that government has let this happen. I own an Intrepid with the 2.7 liter. The engine has 33,000 miles with no sludge. I use regular oil and change it every 2500 to 3000 miles. So far, so good, no problems. If it dies, I'm junking it as it's close to being paid off anyway.

  • gee, this video looks familar too!

  • so even if you were to use a full synthetic,it wouldnt make a difference? this is fucked up.

  • Actually using a full synthetic can make a whole lot of difference in the 2.7. To be 100 % safe you must use auto rx in the engine which will remove all sludge over a period of time. After using auto rx I would run a pure group IV or V synthetic oil. Group III is just a fraud and it not a true synthetic. Mobil 1 and castrol syntec are what you call snake oil. They are liars. Good luck
