A great song indeed. This movie is one of my all-time faves. I've watched it at least once every year for the past 15 years. Wayne and Douglas play off of each other perfectly, and the Dukes old friend Bruce Cabot joins in on the fun. "Beauty" Watch for an early cameo from Bruce Dern,"Mr Pierce ain't gonna like that answer" and the old man is awesome. "Hey! Get away from my wife!" -"Mine hit the ground first, mine was taller" A timeless classic.
I got this film from a Walmart $5 DVD bin then broght to work, and declared to my co-worker, another generation youngter, that I "struck $5 DVD gold!" and when she got a look at it her response was , "That's not gold!" She's not a fan a westerns obviously. Doesn't know what she's missing.
@rarebutgreat I agree I love this song and movie so much, I also uploaded this to my page with the first 5 minutes of the movie. I constantly have this song going through my head.
@rarebutgreat burt kennedy a world war 2 veteran in his autobigraphy blamed spielburg for the death of his friend vic morrow a fellow world war 2 veteran who he directed in combat
The War Wagon is a Western in 1967 with John Wayne and Kirk Douglas in the leading roles. The film was produced by Marvin Schwartz for Batjac Productions. Was directed by Burt Kennedy. Clair Huffaker wrote the book for his novel Badman. :)
If I listen to this song at night, it's hard to get to sleep, because it's so powerful.
