You sound a lot better than I did when I first picked up a ukulele. Just rememeber that your ukulele is like a guitar from the 5th fret. my friend (chad manalo) showed me this vide cause i just got a uke also and i was like "DUDE! that's so like ME!"

my poppa got me a uke for Christmas and i have no idea how to play it but i really wanted one cause it's so happy sounding. he just got me a baby soprano one to practice with but my poppa said when i learn and get good he'll get me a nice one. i just started teaching myself like yesterday and its such a cutie instrument. is yours an ohana too??

Nicer ukes are overrated. I STILL prefer the sound of my $25 uke. It has a jazzier sound. Your uke doesn't look as cheap.

Cheap ukes have strings that won't stay in tune. A set of Aquila or Hilo strings will fix that.

There's no such thing as a "bad uke sound". There are sounds that YOU may like more.

Cheap ukes have bad intonation. The "G" on the 4th string will sound offkey with "G" on another string. A local uke or guitar maker can fix that by moving the nut.
