The sound of the sleet pelting the water is unlike any other recording I've ever hear... and I've heard hundreds of nature recordings. I know ducks have a fatty layer to protect them from the cold and also both of them have water repellent feathers. they both have feathers that don't let the water in and don't ever get wet -- water just spills right of them.

I don't know if swans have that same fatty tissue but they most probably do. We need someone to confirm....
