Next time rub down the inside of your mold with a paper towel with mineral oil, or petrolium jelly. very very thin layer. they don't saponify and will help your soap to pop right out. Or you can line it with freezer paper :)
He is putting on phenolphthalein, albiet a little bit too early into the curing process. It reacts to the lye in the soap. If there is too much lye it will turn pink/purple. If not it light pink or translucent.
