@jkaiser193 Not sure why it's suggested. I do it cause I believe if you don't you will not exercise your pinky enough to give it the same independence as the other fingers. When first beginning I used my ring finger, but only to develop a stretch ability, however at the same time I converted all power 5s into power 7s (8s) so i could still exercise the pinky.
I never noticed before, but you use your index and pinky for power chords. I'm so glad there are other musicians that do that. When I play everyone always looks at me funny and lectures me on proper chord fingerings.
I was in a music store trying out a new guitar. I was just improvising an out of nowhere came this epic riff! So I went home and made a song out of it :P
Hey just wondering when writing a song can you use any chord or any powerchord you like regardless of what key it is based in and also when writing a song does it have to start with the note or chord that the song is based on?
@TheSuicideMessiahGuy you can use whatever chords you like, diminished, with all those weird sounding 7th and 9th notes in there too, go wild. Just remember that most of them sound like regurgitated offal. If you want your metal to sound melodic, stick within the keys you've chosen. But you want dischordant grungey stuff, then go for it. A good idea is to have a key change up or down one or two tones, halfway through the song, that way you can reuse all your riffs again with slight variation :)
@SoundOfSorrowSOS slipknot uses drop-b and a thru c#, they never tune to actual drop-a, but if you do want true heavy metal step down there tuning a whole step then its real drop-A, if you want to be truely heavy get a darn 7 string and tune to drop G#
@SoundOfSorrowSOS i know, i use drop-A a lot, but im saying they dont actually tune to drop-A, the tabs are just in that tuning because A/c# (what they use live) is fucking confusing becaus you do this backwards powerchord shit to make it sound right. jim root even says so in some of his videos
@Aranya009 Looks like an Alexi-200 to me; basically the lowest end to the Alexi series, though that's not to say they're crap. They still play pretty nicely for what they are, though I personally can't stand them though.
I could be wrong though, I don't remember if they're supposed to come with the sawtooth inlays, can anyone confirm or debunk this for me? Too lazy for Google at the moment. :P
hey any body who is just starting out on any istrument i'm trying to start a band and i need a rrhythm guitarist a bass player a lead singer it's any kind of music no pop or black poeple music these are the types of music that i play blues rock punk grunge metal just reply to this if want to join.
Hey Bobby, Would you be able to tab out the little riff you did when you solo'd with the blues scale at 2:25 ? I can not seem to be able to solo using the scale with out it sound bluesy
@SergeantMatt13 lolz yeah but people like low tuning cuz it goes along better for like screaming and really deep stuff but metallica in standard has really really brutal riffs and many more bands
@blgdinger3 one word, sepultura, why is that all you care about is brutality though? its not very dynamic to be just pure speed and brutality, theres more to being heavy than just that shit, ya its fun but listen to death or something, brutality and great song writing skills
what key is that pattern in?
