the quranic quotation 9:5 is out of context, it only applies in a BATTLE/ war when non muslims go and start killing ( not in a bus/ underground/ aeroplane like this stop anjum man is saying). When theres a battle, thats exactly what both sides do to each other, they captive eachother, harass eachother ambush eachother, muslims arent the only ones that do that in war. @erwcat regarding quran 9:29, this referance is referring to the non muslims living in muslim land that refuse to pay the tax. The verse is not telling them to kill them, its "fight" as in you go and make them pay.
This is what all governments do, muslim governments arent the only ones that make you pay the tax. If im not paying my tax, the british governement will "fight me" until i surrender and pay. So "fight" in this verse doesnt mean kill.

the word "fitna" mainly means corruption/oppression/ injustice/ persecution. the verse is saying fight those who are oppressors/ persecutors, its not saying to fight peaceful non muslims! quran (2:256) says "There is no compulsion in religion"
