@DrunkenPoetic Only the 1996 hipsters who were tired of britpop and desperately wanted to be part of another new trend thought it to be shit, and the rest of the herd followed. IMO this ablum is better than Parklife, not as innovative, but it has more and better songs. He Thought Of Cars, The Universal, Yuko and Hiro, Stereotypes, Country House, Best Days, It Could Be You, all winners, and the list goes on.

I have to say, this is the very first time I have heard this song in it's original form!!! I have a single tape with The Universal on it, and it is followed by "Entertain Me - Live It! Remix", so it's a techno dance track version, and I never really liked it, until now, I'm so glad to hear the original!!! :D

Surprised that no-one has commented on this song's similarity to "Girls and Boys"; the opening (and underlying) chord progression is very similar, and you could sing one over the other's backing track.

It's the same-but-different, like Girls and Boys might have turned out in some strange mirror world :-)

This is a great song, as said very underrated. As was this album in general. Yes a few duff songs but in the main it is excellent. There is a bizarre but great version of this on one of the b sides for the universal, there were 2 singles. Its the live it remix. Its not on you tube i dont think.

He seems to change his mind quite a bit. I remember him saying he couldn't understand the criticism the album received in a radio interview Blur did with Stuart Maconie sometime around 2002. If you asked him his opinion tomorrow, he'd probably say it's the greatest album of all time, bar none.

Entertain Me is a mix of pop rock and electro and sounds way more exciting than all the beetlebum of this earth

As usual it's not that much known tracks that are the most exciting for most of the bands

That one and Popscene are currently my fave Blur Ones

it feels so good to hear this album again. This has always been one of my favourite songs -- it's got the harshness in tone that I love about The Great Escape. Has anyone noticed how critical early blur were about modernity in general? I think the last bit of the song is one of the saddest things I've ever heard 'a car a house both in the street...'
