@menorca2006 Thanks!! I think most people could do the same, nothing special about me. I'm in better shape now and jump better now than a year ago, so if there's anyone you want to encourage, point them to the link in this song's description, which is a playlist of the most recent videos. If people only knew how much fun this is, it would be commonplace for 63 year-olds. And easy to learn if you persist and don't push too hard.
@lunagirrl21 Thanks!!! Get 'em to jump rope to music. I started totally from scratch at 55 so there's hope for everyone. Most importantly, tell them I had no idea it was even possible for a non-athlete to jump like this. Just practice a little each day and gradually it will happen - because it's fun - otherwise I wouldn't spend so much time doing it.. Old people miss out on so much because they don't think of exercise as a way to feel good - I was really lucky.
@FantasticallyFreaky Thanks, that's really nice to hear. This video will be a year old in two days. I think I jump a lot better now.
In case you don't know, my message is that I believe almost anyone can do the same and get the same benefits. I started when I was 55, no idea it would be fun and often euphoric. Now I'm 63 trying to spread the word. Not selling anything, just working on my Karma.. If you're still reading, or even if you're not, thanks again from the heart -- Peace Out.
I appreciate the nice comments I've gotten lately, but this video is 8 months old. I feel like I jump much better now and it's easier to see how much fun it is. I'm add a link to my most recent videos to the description for this one. Just remember, it doesn't have to be jump rope. Just do something everyday to get your breathing and pulse elevated. If you're consistent, it doesn't matter how much. The way you feel will suck you in so you'll start doing more.
@kevplayer789 Thanks, I also appreciated your email where you talked about running. I'm totally unqualified outside my personal experience, but I feel like I can control impact better when I jump rather than when I run. For one thing, if you keep your knees bent you are never at the point where your leg is being used as a pole to vault you from one step to the next. And when I started jumping at 55 I was totally unskilled, so I started focusing on "landing soft" right from the start. + it's fun
@ftele Wow, thanks so much. It really is fun - more than fun, euphoric - once you get to the point where you can jump to the beat at even the simplest level. Just practice a little every day but don't go nuts. If you're consistent your brain will work out what you're trying to do and it will come together like magic. If you push yourself, you'll get sore and cranky and resistant to continuing. But consistency is key - if you skip days just because you don't feel like it you sabotage yourself.
I totally agree! It seems anything but it's funny! I'll come to see that vid' when I'll be sad! More, I think I'll rope with him virtually! Good idea!
Makes you wonder if this guy was recently divorced and is trying to work out his demons by jumping rope and listening to Clapton.... anyways, cool video. Thanks, man.
great song!
