  • Thanks for the heads up, and fro watching.

  • Nice review, but you should definately check out the bestseller here in Norway the Eagle products G-17 turbo cut folding saw.

With it`s patented slightly curved and easely replaceable blade it is without a doubt (to me at least) the ultimate 3 season hiking/camping saw available..

you might have to order it from Norway though.

  • @hivpositivar Well, the Eagle saw is not a Norwegian product since you can find it distributed under different names like "Barnell", which is available in Norway as well (don't remember where I bought it, XXL, Friluftsmagasinet, ???). Search for folding saw videos here at youtube and you will see that our American friends have the same type of saw, just with another name. And I doubt that it is any better than the Bahco Lapplander..

  • @pumile0812 Laplander of course, sorry...

  • If you are going out in the wintertime and need to do some serious woodcutting on big logs forget the sawvivor, get yourself a Silky Bigboy. Look up the reviews here on youtube. Yes it's more expensive and weighs a few ounces more but it is worth it.

  • Thanks for taking the time to compare all these. I have been trying to decide between the Laplander and the 396 HP and this is the only video that I have found that does a comparison of the two of them.

  • Thanks a lot for the comparison! I've been trying real hard to find comparisons of the laplander and the 396-hp (the pruner), and they're few and far between. Great video!

  • Like how fast the folding saws deploy. Nice assessment on the hand positioning versus the two styles.

  • @Cr0cket20 Thanks for stopping by Cr0cket, it's a real honor.

  • I have both, and I pretty much agree with your conclusions. I would recommend you get the sleeve for the sawvivor. It does a good job protecting the items in your pack from the sharp surfaces of the saw. I also think it's a good idea to carry both, as you stated. The Baco whips out quickly, does a great job, and folds up quickly. And for wet or wintry use, the sawvivor works quite well.

  • @dunfamalb Agreed concerning the sharp edges. I filed mine down, but there still a little sharp.

  • You cover a lot of details in this side by side & I would agree with your assessment.

I think all are good, I've seen the sawvivor fail, but it is a workhorse when the rivets hold up. I also tend to go with the folding pruning style saws most of the time.
