@LiamE69 yeah. first f-22 stays invisible only when its flying directly towards raidar. but when it enters enemy air space, anyone can see it. second. this thing looses 9 out of 10 times in dog fight against eurofighter and raffale, european fighters.
The Raptor used to be called the Rapier. Why? Rapier's are actually a weapon.
It doesn't matter that an F-22 can engage from BVR. What will it engage with but a Fox Three. A fox three or AIM-120 AMARAAM is 12 feet long and weighs 350 pounds. How is that going to show up on radar? It will show up big when it comes off the rail at mach 3. It's got 20 miles from BVR emitting signature the whole way. BVR is not impressive but stupid. It's a $300,000 shot. Missed.
A new production F-8 with a turbofan and soild wing would be a worldbeater. They rebuilt the F-8 before as the A-7. It worked great. What is good for a new weapon is not missiles but infrared directed automatic recoiless cannon in 40mm.
F-22 is already a 20 year old design that needs major upgrades to remain current.
In the time it has been in service it has sat out several conflicts and never been used.
The F-22 force would be overwhelmed by an equal cost force of F-16's or similar aircraft.
Its stealth is massively overrated.
It had return from Guam as rain caused malfunctions. And did anyone mention if it gets wet its stealth coating dont work?
Huge waste of money. HUGE. Designed to fight an enemy that dont exist.
