Yeah Paul was a huge driving force behind slipknot, and as much respect that i have for the knot they are the band that got me to play drums not of that style but to get out there and try it for myself, because i grew up in iowa been living here in colorado for the last few years but these guys set a bar so fucking high i dont think anyone can reach it.We are from a state noone gave a damn about musically, but they forced their way in and i am thankful for that and always will be a fan

Mainly because slipknot was always badass...but never as popular as i thought they would be. 2008 comes around and suddenly their cd is at number 1 all over the world. that blew my mind in the best way. they made it for soooo long with all the same 9 members. death is the only thing they cant defeat

@250honda I know what you're saying, however I think Vol. 3 and the long break between it and All Hope Is Gone, was Slipknot's real rise in popularity. People go on about Slipknot changed with the last album, but if you were a long term fan, you'd know it was really with Vol. 3. Hell, I didn't even like Iowa at first because of how different it was to Self Titled. People also need to realize how important Paul was to the songwriting (since he wasn't the most interesting bassist in the world).

If slipknot is pop, then Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Rob zombie and System of a down is also pop. Yes slipknot haven't headlined Wacken open air, but neither have none of the mentioned. You can call Britney spears or Madonna pop, but not metal bands :)

As a Maggot since I emerged from the womb, I can appreciate the way that Slipknot dedicated Sic Nesses to Paul without it coming off as if they were monetizing and capitalizing off of the death of a fallen friend (i.e John Lennon, Ronnie James Dio, etc). It was an honest memorial to Paul and was much more personal than if the DVD had been called "The Paul Gray Memorial DVD", for example, with his mask on the cover. Let's trust that they will do the same if a future song is dedicated to him.
