The fog light area is ugly and side view mirrors as well. The small glass area next to the side view mirror is poor quality and can be easily broken, giving access to the unlock button on the inside of the door. A security concern to say the least.
The butt is so darn ugly, I wish they had kept the 2011 model's look instead. It looked much better than this. If they kept the previous model's look and cleaned it up a little then I would buy this car in a heartbeat. Unfortunately they had to sabotage it.
the auto makers were on MUSH... he thought it looked good but once he sobered up he started bad tripping..... Impreza+ family car look= Disappointment
It's a good car, but not because of its exterior styling.
I'd buy this car if safety and reliability matter the most to you. But strictly in terms of aesthetics, I don't see how anyone could be thrilled by this.
this announcer sounds like he should be selling slacks and dungarees:
"the 2012 impretzel will impress with its full-time, double-stitched comfort. and not to be left behind, we have built in wrinkle resistance as a standard feature. you're going to like the way you look..."
The sedan looks decent. Almost like a Civic. But the 5-door looks like the bastard child of a Venza and Crosstour..or something. Definitely not ilke the 5-door of old, which was beautiful.
Hmmm, my only concern about the new Impreza is the engine power decrease.....there are many cars out there with 2.0 engines or less displacement delivering more power and torque. As an example, the 2.0 liters engine in the Tucson 2011 generates 167HP and 146 lb ft of torque. C'mon Subaru, you got the best AWD, you should make that 2.0 boxer engine more powerful, at less 20 more HPs.
Besides that, the car looks really good and the interiors are really good.
@wtrdogg20 the car is actually faster than the previous impreza models.. i think gear ratio and lightness of the vehicle... so though it's not as powerful, it's slightly quicker and more responsive...
either way it's no match for the turbo-charged engines... so we'll see what the impreza has to offer when it comes..
I did hear though that WRX/STI is going to be separate from the Impreza altogether...
@wtrdogg20 more hp than corolla civic cruze sentra same as elantra/lancer. ill take the 30 percent increase in fuel economy over the old 22 more hp. the car is 160 pounds lighter than the previous impreza but the body is 25% stronger and those 22 extra hp's mean nothing in the old impreza. the new one is .3 seconds faster 0-60
@toyota420xp Stronger body is good, lighter chassis is good too, but for a car of this category they should be able to have better output from a 2.0 engine.
The Elantra has the same power, but from a smaller engine, with better fuel effciency, however it is a 2wd. I am sure if we match that engine with an AWD drivetrain, it may make the same 36MPG or around like the new Impreza.
Even the Dodge 2.0 VVT engine has better output. Subaru should do better with the boxer engines, 148HP isnt enough.
It's not "Hun die," it's "Hun day." And really, it's "Hyun dae" in Korean, but of course, Seoul isn't pronounced "Soul" in Korea. My expectations aren't THAT high. Also, it's not asterik, it's asterisk. Executives...
mileage is finaly at a point which one could buy this now. i mean come on the 2011 getting 20//27 or something like that my corolla gets 35 combined for real. my next car might be this car or the 2023 civic but definately in sedan trim
Focus may be more sporty, but it's not AWD, which is the main selling point of Subarus. Also, Ford... at least in my mind stands for "Fix Or Repair Daily"
I've never owned a subaru but I hear a lot of positive feedback on their reliability and the AWD is a great feature to have. I feel the older generation imprezas are all unique and good looking in different ways and as far as this year's model, I personally like the sedan over the hatchback.. looks a little too crossover for my taste.
the intro video should drive the impreza on the off-road beside that road with some jumps.\! fxxk the new feature, we want out stand perfromance for a new impreza! not the stupid econ fuel saving!! do that on the stupid legacy.at lease have 300> hp
lol, if you guys want more sporty than get a wrx or a sti. stop being cheap fucks and modifying your economy car. my forester stays stock but its a great daily driver.
@mackoyzfr1 And when your Lancer is broken down on the side of the road at about 110K, don't say I didn't warn you as I fly by in my fully operational, "ugly," far superior Subaru.
@bu11com ...But it's a FORD.... enough said! Maybe it isn't rue anymore but Ford used to stand the polar opposite of quality!!! Jokes like.. "found on road dead".. and a few other not so nice terms were used to describe Ford or anything else that came out of Detroit.
The car doesn't scream "lets get dirty!", it looks like it says "lets pick the kids up at school and then the grocery store". I think they should have tossed in a little more HP. There are so many 140HP cars out there. Having about 160-180HP would give people a second look and take it a little more serious.
They should really try to make a "sports sedan" instead of just a "sedan".
I think they could have more paint color choices? That purple/plum color isn't something I'd want to show off. It kinda feels like they are aiming for an older crowd?
What they are doing wrong with the advertising is not showing footage of the vehicle in offroad conditions. It has AWD for a reason right?
I seriously think Subaru should just toss on the WRX body kit/factory rims on the baseline Impreza just to sell more.
this is by far the ugliest impreza ever... especially the new hatchback ...the impreza is officially off my list.. :( a sad day... I prefer this year model
looks pretty good..much better than the current turd shaped generation.......36 mpg to boot! I'd buy one any day over a Corolla or civic....THEY are boring cars guys
I want to see an STi version of these. Something tells me they won't look as good as the current generation. The current generation grew on me a lot, and just when they discontinued it, it is at it's peak. What the hell. Subaru, please don't fix things that aren't broken. :\ The current gen could've lasted to 2013.
The new impreza looks much better in person - still shots don't really give it the 3D lines and shadows very well. It looks like Subaru will continue to grow with this new model.
Please manufacture electric veichles. There are lots of tornados because of huge ozone depletion and emission of gasoline to the atmosphere around the world and it will continue drastically.
@abdullahhakan1 I could not agree with you more. If more and more people would buy electric vehicles, it would free up more oil for those of us that need vehicles like pickup trucks to get our work done. It would also lower the price of fuel because of less consumption on everyone else's part. BUY ELECTRIC!!!
@abdullahhakan1 you see... electric cars use electricity. How is majority of electricity made? Through the usage of coal and nuclear plants. The wastes from those compounds cause the same effects and even worse to our world's ecosystem.
