i personally think that street fighter has a gradual learning curve like smash bros. i mean when you think about it, you'll learn about unique moves, specials, basic chain combos, links and the more technical side of the basic techniques at a rather 'babystep' kind of pace. at least that's what i felt when i played MvC2, and capcom pretty much does that with their fighting games. nonetheless, it is a fun game... and i can't wait to get it when my ps3 comes.

Street fighter is my favorite fighting game but it doesnt require the most skill maybe on the trial part but Virtua Fighter is the most technical and complex game. it takes more skill than any fighting game. The only reason why its not that popular is because it's not a button masher

D-Pad.

Hands down more efficient than the analogue stick - but- the analogue stick can pull off ultras simply by rotating it as fast as you can and then hitting L1/L2.
