Whatever, I don't have much patience for art that needs to be explained to be appreciated. Good visuals (contrast or no contrast) make you want to keep watching, and good songs make you want to keep listening. Here, the song is good and the visuals are bad. Music and images are their own forms of communication, and they shouldn't have to rely on verbal or written arguments (other forms of communication) to make people like them.

Look, I'm not saying that there should be some standard for what is and isn't obvious, but imho this was like Sesame Street "one of these things is not like the other" obvious, and it works. Some people watch bad action movies to laugh at the bad acting. John Watters made a career out of it, and trust me, noones in the theaters explaining that the bad acting and gaudy outfits are intentional.
