Was für ein Fantastische Sänger! Seriously, he is amazing, and sadly there's just nobody now who sounds half as good in the Bass ranks. I wait to be proved wrong, and would be happy at it.
Oh wie schön!! (habe die CD der Karajan Aufnahme) absolut fantastisch...der Walzer und Molls Stimme, jeder Grizzlybär wäre neidisch, kommt gleich in meine Klassik playlist...
When I lived in Wien in the late 70s we had magnificent casts for Rosenkavalier but with Oscar Czervenka. I walked into town (before the tram started for the day) to do standing room for a performance of La Fanculla del West with domingo to see that he cancelled and that they were doing Rosenkavalier with Trudeleise Schmidt (sp?), Christa Ludwig, Gerhard Unger, and Oskar Czerwenka(sp). It was a pickup cast that was of recordable quality. With Moll irt would have been better.
I have this complete, but must say, if you can get it, that the film of this production when it was new in 1960 is even better. It is again under Karajan, but with Schwarzkopf's unsurpassed Marschallin at her peak, the divine Sena Jurinac as Octavian, the delightful Annelise Rothenberger as Sophie and my favourite Ochs, Otto Edelmann - no other Ochs manages such an appealing twinkle of the eye.
not nearly as slow as Thielemann's conducting at Covent Garden in 2000 with Fleming, Graham and Schaefer - he found an extra half an hour of music from somewhere! For all that, it was bliss on a stage.
Hello. Its really the best complete version of Der Rosenkavalier, recorded in Vienna in 1984. Baltsa, wonderful, and enchanting Anna Tomowa-Sintow as Marchalin. Beautiful scenographie, best singers and Lord karajan in one of his best moments.
I have this DVD is the best recording in my opinion of this wonderful strauss's opera.the cast is one most better in the world:tomowa-sintow(best marechala),agnes baltsa(wonderful octavian)and moll in his better role.
this recording was made in 1984 in salzburg.was a fantastic night for the singers and for karajan too.the brilliance perfomance of everybody, because karajan liked so much of this singers.
I love seconds 33-35. Moll just opens his mouth and out comes some good-ol-profondo, just as casual as can be. He does a good job of acting this performance, not just singing it; I really dig the relaxed look he has going on :P. Bravo Moll!
he is the best!!!!!!!!

Impressive! First the incredibly well projected low D at 0:34, then the perfectly balanced high F at 1:31!

What do you mean, awful? Er sagt es ist ganz schlecht!
It's a great opera -- funny, romantic, nuanced.

I agree with ChrisWCann - Otto Edelmann was unsurpassed.

Yes, Chris, I must be a GRUFTY, listening in the old MET to Annelise and Otto. Well, it were great times.

However, I also don't know nearly anything about this opera. Is he supposed to be injured?
IceMasterEasthamJazz 4 years ago
If I remember correctly, in the previous scene he and Octavian crossed swords and Ochs was stabbed in the arm.
jws2718 4 years ago
Actually, the whole time, I just noticed. Is it to help him holding the glass up?
IceMasterEasthamJazz 4 years ago
Why is his arm in the sling at the end?
IceMasterEasthamJazz 4 years ago
He's been lightly stabbed by Octavian in a short sword-scuffle

Hmm... Yup, you're right. I took the info directly from Amazon:

Not sure exactly when this was then. If you liked the clip, go buy the whole DVD!
