Great video. MU-2s are very cheap to acquire on the used airplane market nowadays. I've seen some go for around $325,000 to $675,000 on Trade A Plane.com. Too bad Mitsubishi doesn't make them anymore.
@aimpoint101 It does not require a type rating. It does require FAA mandated training on an annual basis much like the Robinson R-22 helicopter. As a result of the training, our safety record has been outstanding. The owners/operators welcome the training as most were doing it anyway and it keeps the folks who shouldn't be flying a high performance aircraft out of the left seat.
@gregmink It ought to be a damn good safety record given the some what unsavory attention the airframe gets. I like how if an MU-2 has so much as a runway incursion that the aviation media heads jump on it. But, whenever something like a King Air bites it, they don't so much as bat an eye.
I am Brazilian, a passionate pilot and MU3, or just "Flying Rats" as affectionately called here in Brazil. Congratulations, one of the best videos I've seen here in q YOUTUBE this machine.
I've moved on to "bigger and better", but my days flying the Mitsi in single pilot cargo ops are the best times I ever had in an airplane. Incredible performer, and don't you believe all that nonsense about it being a widowmaker. If you're halfway competent, it's a sweetheart. Having flown both, now, jets are for nancies. If I ever hit the lotto, it's an MU-2 in my garage. Long live the Mitsi.
that is a "Stellar" aircraft man. wow. totally impressed. and your video is really nice too. great shots from the Air!@ holy crap your really moving on some of those Low_approach passes! jimminy! what..........200+ Indicated, at least. really cookin
I love that plane. Been reading up on it and it's history. A lot of plane for the money but you better know what your doing when you fly it. Good idea to take the special training classes on this plane. Wish I had your job. Such a beautiful flying machine.
I have a couple of the suction cup mini mounts from Delkin. They are great. Check out my Fort Pierce to Bahamas video. I have another mount that I explain about half way into that video and I have a picture of it.
Viewers should take time to open/read the full description of this video and prospective buyers should take advantage of Greg's offer of unbiased MU2 advice. Buy one (I did) -- you won't be disappointed!
