I know old post - but the game just came out on BFG. So thought I would check out a review.
there have been many games like this. they have all failed. Except one by lucas arts called FULL THROTTLE: /watch?v=qj_1s_X3I-0
check that out. very nicely done (for a 1996 game) I'l check out LE and see wht this is about.

@Demoras Yep it's on gog now, shame it was AFTER I found a physical copy. Oh well, at least the CDs are pretty, so it's not so bad. Hopefully more people can experience this game now.
