@SilencingSin I use Mac, but I heard Dev C++ is good for beginners. It works for C and C++.
Although I don't know why he would want to compile in the terminal.

&num1 is adress of num1, so program know where to put data in memory, you can read about it in any ANSI C book in pointer section.
