I remember seeing the original Dragon Ball before seeing DBZ. Dragon Ball was funny and whimsical. They didn't get to be funny in DBZ 'cause planets were too busy exploding every 20 episodes... Not to say DBZ was bad, as a kid I thought it was great. But as an adult, I do heavily lean towards Dragon Ball, both for focus on it's characters, and it's general comedic nature and heavy focus on having fun with old legends.

DBZ is good for some of its fight scenes, Vegeta, Gohan, Future Trunks, and a few other things. However, their are some things about DBZ that annoy me compared to Dragon Ball.
