Наигрались в WOT олени. Т28(Т95) американская черепаха, по сути это самоходка, но её в США признано считать сверхтяжёлым танком, всего два экземпляра, пушка 105-мм Т5Е1. Спорить о том, что это за черепаха тяжёлый танк, или самоходка смысла нету, сами американцы до конца этого не объяснят. Меня вот другое интересует, я сам как и многие играю в WOT, но пт-сау Т28 и Т95 в американской ветке меня поражают, ведь в жизни это почти один и тот же танк, а в WOT они РАЗНЫЕ и внешне и параметры все!!!

That was the whole problem with super-heavyweights. Like the German King Tiger and Ferdinand, no bridge could support them AND they were too big to go by rail until their regular track were removed and replaced with narrow ones. Added to the fact that they were underpowered and you have a perfect example of wasted time and treasure.

@carthima Modern tanks weight AROUND 70 tons...the Abrams is around 65 tons, the Leopard 2 A6 about the same...the Leclerc makes an expeption with being about 50 tons, and the Soviet/Russian tanks where ALWAYS much lighter then the western tanks, by using heavy slope and low sihlouettes.

Also, the Shermans combat record might have sucked, BUT it was not crappy...it actually held together and drove smoother then ANY german tank, whose transmission would break easily.

Like the tiger tank the T-28 would have done nothing to change the war. Of all the tanks the best of all was the T-34 and Sherman, both complete garbage alone, but easy to manufacture and use made them superior as around 30 000 and 50 000 were made by the end of the war. All heavy tanks become useless in fighting infantry, thats why none exist today over 60-70 tons.

Any kind of tiger that met the t-28 would get its shit slapped so hard it's not even funny. A Tiger I could penetrate ~150 mm of steel armor at close ranges, the t-28 carried 300 mm of steel armor. The T-28 could penetrate well over 200 mm of steel armor, the Tiger had a max of 100mm armor. Even a Tiger II would be outclassed by a t-28.

Considering, Japan drew away forty percent of the USA war effort and tens of thousands of Commonwealth soldiers. The French and the British (at first) were under poor commands. They had numerous chance to defeat the German in 1940 but failed to seize it. USSR was also poorly led until near the end of 1942. The RAF was never overpowered.

well, the assumption was with air supremacy there would be no risk from enemy aircraft or artillery. And of course it would not have been in the field i a vacuum, it would have significant infantry and other armor support so the counter threat would have been minimal.
