And what wasnt shown was -- Uso somehow found Muller's head (ok -- hamlet) and showed it to the kids of Reinforce Jr. -- It was so shocking when I first saw this episode. Must be the worst death ever in Gundam
You know, despite being stopped, you just know that if he had tried to get her free, they would have made something happen to make him accidentally kill her, and make it even more depressing.
In terms of stats alone, Victory 2 Assault Buster is the srongest Gundam in the UC era, but the pilot doesn't really bring out the suit's full potential. It'd debateable, but Amuro (in the nu gundam) could probably beat Uso
ONe thing that always bugged be a bit about with this show is the mobile suits don't seem powerful enough for their time. For 50-60 years in the future the Nu gundam and Sazabi still seem more powerful
wait so when two mobile carriers collide, mueller gets decapitaded and her helmet is intact, but when frannie gets smacked by a cannon her mobile suit explodes and her helmet is obliterated. that does not comupute
this was made when Kill-'em-all Tomino was reportedly suffering from a serious depression, thus death scenes were even worse than the usual Tomino's characters deaths, occurring throughout the entirety of the show.
Why can't he cut the arm of that suit or pull it arm off? but I guess that's how the war really is though... aside from you got crushed by a giant ship but your head still looks pretty(it would be more reasonable if it was the upper body).
I just hate it when Tomino tries to add realism :/ it's nice and all but really. Depending on where the cut would have been her life could have been spared. For that matter, if no one were piloting the enemy MS at the time he could have carried the entire thing off the battle ship altogether; of course at the risk of being shot down but still. It's like the screen writers wrote themselves into a corner or something.
I know this was a kids' show (not PBS-like or anything like that), but can you really understand a guy's mom's body being obliterated by a wheel with her head flying off? The deaths are one thing, and that's tolerable, but there are some things in V Gundam that are a bit much.
Yes, the original Mobil Suit Gundam was a deep deep show with massive political ties and etc. The death of major and minor characters, and the huge emotional struggle that came from the main character Amuro. Their attempt at a less deep story line, Gundam Wing was still far from a kids show. Maybe the one you say was the heavily censored version aired on cartoon network.
Even the uncensored version of wing was pretty tame aside form a bit of blood and cursing. Not a kids show, certainly, but, oh boy, Victory sure isnt.
I don't know man, Gundam was never really a childrens show. It just aired on toonami. But not this one. I'm not trying to argue with you or anything, but when I lived in Nihon, it was mostly followed by older teens and adults. Maybe your right.
so yeah thats a good analogy, for the sake of it airing in north america. but for Japan maybe not. I didnt mean to correct your earlier comment or anything.
This series was brutal,...that is why I loved it. it had that realistic war feel to it. not the happy go lucky everyone survives, endings. Just like the Old Zeta Gundam,..where everyone dies, and the main character goes insane! Man I love the old UC universe. ^_^
I know right and when they call it Gundam Victory you kinda go in thinkin its gonna be one of those happy go lucky type series (or at least I did) but it was the darkest Gundam ive ever seen since Zeta!!
@jiggles207 Realistic. Right. Giant motorcycle battleships, mobile suits flying through space one wheels, and brigades of scantily-clad women suicide soldiers.
Okay, I love this series for the fact that it pulls no punches; I understand you there. But Victory takes so many turns round the bend that its insanity can shift instantly from mindless fun to abject dementia. It's a love/hate relationship for me. Take, for example: Asher's death scene. Hilarious.
"Welcome to war in the real world, kid. It ain't pretty, and lots of you won't make it home. Just do your best, and remember the guy next door is relying on you, as you're relying on him. Real Life ain't Nintendo."
Just like in MS 08. There they mostly used ballistic weapons since those were less likely to trigger a nuclear meltdown than were beam weapons. That, or they tried for the enemy cockpits.
It was Oliver; the reason you said Orifer is because Uso Ewin was pronouced Usso Evin/Usso Ebbing because he was of German/Austrian descent since W became V and V became F on their terms; plus, in Japanese, Uso means liar.

Come on, it's not like he couldn't cut the entire arm off or something.
Well, at least this one had good buildup and actually made me feel for Uso's loss. Now, Oliver's death when the Motorad fleet was launching...
Oliver: We must attack from the sides!

Still has the weakest Gundams Ever. Z Gundam Which is a 2nd generation gundam is far more powerful than V & V2. :(

Is this the situation?:
-They can't blow up the battleships because they're nuclear-powered.
-Usso has to choose between whether Shakti dies or his mom dies, but the mom sacrifices her life to save Shakti.
-Oliver (I used to think it was Orifer) dies, but he got Marvet pregnant the night before.
