  • Hey i m having 4 birds together is that fine and should i get 2 baskets.

  • what are the physical signs that show on the female when she is 'pregnant'?

  • where did you buy the nest from?

  • @KaySkywalker I think it's called a wicker basket nest.. I bought it from a pet store (mostly sell fishes and birds) near the market place in our area.... I lived in the Philippines, so , I can't tell where or how you are going to buy it in your area.... sorry.

  • @Basti711 It's a nice basket. I moved the nest yesterday that I bought them three weeks ago and placed a branch in front of it. It must be in an okay place because they are both in the nest a day later. So It's all good now :)

  • how long does it take for an egg to hatch?

also do you know what the problem when a female finch wont lay egg i had her for 3 year

  • @pigeonandiguana

i think it's about 18 days more or less... I had mine laying after about a year from birth.. It might be that the cage is your probl;em or the nesting box or basket or the partner.. Lots of things you can consider ... Also , search some more info on google for finches.. thanks for watching and sharing....

  • thank also one more question my female has only one orange feather in her left cheek, JUST ONE. woulddat be considering hera male or can a female finch have an orange chee. well one feather at least

  • I think the orange feather on their cheek is a natural color... But, I'm definite the female has an (light) Orange beak... and the male a (bright) RED one....

  • Lol..the song playing..ha ha

  • @iemmastar

Haha.. yea. Like the bird says". I think somebody's watching me , dear.."

  • im gettin my first set of zebra finches 2moz, just wondering, wen u let them fly around, do they after " do there business" wen they out the cage??????

cuase they only allowed out in my room

  • well they r mannikins 2 start no but i rekon they r beatifull, they r as much fun as other n luv 2 sit there n watch them

    they r brown n white.

  • then where do you get the wild ones from..

  • Naturally zebra finches are from Austrailia. Though i dont suggest supporting the kidnapping of birds from their homes when there are so many out there who need good and loving homes.

  • im getin my finches 2day ! lol

  • dats very good of you.... take great care of them... what colors are they?

  • My zebras have built a nest in a banksia branch I put in their cage. Problem is now butcher birds are attacking my cage bank as it is located outside. Does anyone have a suggestion of how I might stop this

  • No Idea right now...sorry...

  • i like your nest. where did you buy it?

  • from my local dealer... imported from the philippines

  • or, you try the big bird feeder for parrots or keets... that's where they are nesting right now. They have four chicks caring today about a month old. It's the fourth batch they have in 1 year... a total of 10 chicks in all...

  • do you catch the wild birds when they are babies.

    there called house sparrows.

  • nope. they are messy and filthy.. they might be contagious to my beautiful birds...

  • if this does happen though is that ok??

  • well, i have mine who mated which I didn't have time to stop them from doing so, but I just let them continue only for the first time and separated them after the chicks were older. Their chicks by the way were healthy and alert and I have them separated on their own cages...

  • hey man nice vid lol umm im tinkin of gettin finches well i am gettin finches n i wana breed them but wen they do breed and theyr all together in the cage wouldnt (for example) the mum mate with the son or the daughter with the dad???

  • yes, this will happen in time... but if it did, you must have an extra cage bought in advance to transfer the new chicks into it. Then you will have to care and look after them and separate the males from the females if you know which is which. BTW, buy a cage that has a divider so you could still let them mingle with each other like when they want to sing...

  • i"love zebra finches too and how they sound eeeeee eee!

  • sound s like a zoo out in the background. What type of birds do you have?

  • i have parakeets... zebra finches... and the regular birds that are wild on the streets... we call them MAYA birds.. they are finches too but brown and black but wild.

  • hey what do u prefer for nesting materials apprently i have grass that i heard was good. so what do u prefer

  • i have these things that i bought straight from my Pet Shop dealer... It contains the fibers from a coconut.. These are given to the finches so that they will build their own nests... They can also be bought from a plant dealer.

Ask for more information from your local petshop....

    Thanks for asking...

  • ty for ur reply =D

  • i played your video for my finches, and you should of seen them... they were listening so actively and then they were watching my monitor. they love it. i only have one male and female and think they get lonely. so i was wondering since i have big cage should i add another pair of finches?

  • yes, i would suggest that too.. since they have hatched 2 of their 4 hatchlings.. they are living very happy together and sleeps together at the same nest... but you should be able to add another nesting basket or box or two so they won't fight for space... and btw, shoudda love to see a vid of ur birds watching mine...

  • Nice music. :) Your birds are really cute! I have a question I was wondering if you could answer. Well, my finches (a boy and girl) have recently become very loud with each other. They constantly 'beep' and 'honk' at each other as well as this chirpy noise like at 4:18. Does this mean they are ready to mate? Oh and one more thing! They seemm to be interacting with your birds' noises. :D

  • Thanks for watching my video... Well, in my experience, the one doing the most loudest noise was the male who is trying to strut around trying to impress the female..if both are the same sexes, then they are just showing hus the best...

  • These pair had 4 chicks, 2 of which survived and are both white in color..This isn't the same pair anymore, the original white female

was eaten by a RAT!, which unfortunately was caught and fed to my pet Python...

The new female that I had paired up with the male was the sister of his ex-partner.. And the chicks right now are the nieces or nephews of the female right now..

  • The best thing that I had discovered when I put the new female in their cage was that, a few days later, the chicks were hungry and of course daddy fed them... Then, I observed that the female was also feeding them even though they weren't her chicks!.. amazing, im not sure if this is common...

  • Also, When my parakeets threw out a couple of hteir unhatched eggs, I decided to put these into the finches' nest... and amazingly, the male and then the female started to sit on them later on that afternoon!... Wow... I was surprised.. but i had to remove the eggs because, 1: it is not their kind and 2: they won't hatch anyway...

  • I just experimented...

The interacting of your birds and mine by the way was a sign of their communicating... Your bird might be aware that mine was trying to call on yours and your male was trying to protect his own or probably just listening to what mine is saying and vice versa... Hope, I helped you a little... Thanks again...

  • Clean the cage.. please.. dirty cage is bad for the birds.

  • I've already have, since this is an old video of them that I took... thanks for the comment anyway....

  • thanks... i already did since i'm sometimes too busy working... but i keep to watch them when i get home from work and feed them as much as i can... Right now, they have 4 chicks last 2 weeks ago and sadly, 1 has disappeared or died... the 3 remaining are big. 2 of them are white like their mom, and the other 1 was a combination of mom and dad. (go see my other video of them, entitled, "finch momfeeds younglings").. Thanks for commenting...

  • your birds are the cutest thing ever.. you might consider cleaning the cage once in a while though
