Eric Blore as the droll valet happened to voice J. Thaddeus Toad in the "Wind in the Willows" segment of Disney's "The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad". :)
this was the first movie I saw them together and it instantly became one of my favorites. awesome from begining to end. this is what romantic movie should be like.
I first discovered Ginger and Fred when I was going through university during the mid 70's. Somehow during all my early years of being exposed to Warners and other studio films released to TV, I had never been exposed to RKO. Late one night while I was nervously contemplating my next assignment, I discovered Fred and Ginger. Their movies ran for the whole week. It was exactly the escape that I needed at the time. I never did become an engineer but I've always looked back to great, old movies.
They are so good in this clip and the dance over the furniture is clever. Does anyone notice that Ginger's feet never touch the chairs when Fred lifts her down.
interesting fact: the first takes of that scene where they danced over the furniture didnt go so well...or it did...
The part where they land, on the first take, Fred and Ginger sliped and fell, BUT ever the gentleman, Fred managed to let himself take the fall first...and in an interview, the interviewer said about that: "And you were still a gentleman even in mid air to cushion Ginger's fall..." and so and so...Fred and Ginger ARE GODS!!!!!!!!!
@animeeclipse I'm a pretty good rollerskater from the early 80's. When I first took my future wife there, she was so nervous that eventually she fell. Being an experienced skater, I may have used her to cushion my fall. She ended up with two new front teeth but never pointed a finger or complained. I never skated after that. Occasionally we have a difference of opinion, but we're still together
@animeeclipse Betty has had two front caps for about 25 years now. The point that I was trying to make is that sometimes you get the girl even when you land on top of her and knock out her two front teeth. Inadvertingly.
