Would we be able to obtain this CD with the visuals with permission for use in a series of upcoming meetings? I think it would be perfect for the message on the Bible Sabbath in the "Let Freedom Ring" series for training our mostly first-time-ever pulpit evangelists. Those meetings begin in March.

As a long time singer/songwriter who has used my music for both personal enjoyment, courting my wife (before and after we were married), as well as ministry in churches, classrooms, summer camps, prisons, street corners, day care centers, juvenile delinquency centers, etc, I wish to say I am most pleased for the use you are making of the talent God has given to you. Keep looking up, and keep it up!
Sarah, you're on the right track .... keep studying the New Testiment! God will, in time, reveal to you how much more the Sabbath is for New Testiment Christians, than it is, or ever was, for those under the Mosiac Covenent. If you place yourself under the 10 Commandments, 'REMEMBER' ...they are enbedded in the Mosiac Covenent. If you break ONE, you brake them ALL! Jesus says "Come unto ME, and I will give you REST (Sabbath)
This song is a masterpiece! The content is deep, accurate, spiritual and Biblical... and the music is beautiful. Keep up the good work by the Grace of God.
This is wonderful song! The lyrics are clear and beautiful. =) God bless you in your music! Isaiah 66:23 "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
@magdalein77 Email dragetfamily@me.com with "Request for Remember Lyrics" in the subject line and you will receive the lyrics. Thanks for your kind words!
Thank you so much for this song, Sarah. Last Sabbath, I was sad by the lack of Sabbath songs, and then I found yours. I have listened to it dozens of times, and each time it brings me near tears. Such a powerful message placed in a beautiful song.
Very beautiful voice, i love the song, wow, have a great Sabbath my sister, i'm sharing this video with all, it's got a powerful message that all needs to know.
@dragetb Guitar only and also where can we find the lyrics? The donation has been made on her web and an email with the address was left in an email. Thank you.
@dragetb What's Sara's website? I would like it the same way as it is in this song on youtube but if it is easyer to do just a guitar I will take that too. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
After two former Sabbath-keepers posted over 30 comments against the Sabbath – with the same points repeated over and over again and some comments attacking a certain denomination – I suggested they should move on to other forums. A few days later I came across a former Sabbath-keeper website where the same individuals complained that they were not allowed to express their views on our comment board. I could not respond, because only former Sabbath-keepers were allowed to post comments there:)
Heb chap 8 talks about the problem with the old covenant was with the people, not Gods commandments. He says in Heb 8:10"I will put my laws into their minds, and I will write My laws on their hearts." If the laws don't matter is it okay to murder, commit adultery, not keep the sabbath? 1jhn3:4"Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness." Mat7:23"I will declare to them I never knew you, depart from me you who practice lawlessness." Makes sense to me.
@justsharingful You are absolutely right! Two Sabbath-keepers: one in rebellion, the other in a close walk with his Savior. The determining factor is their motivation or what drives them.
I believe in the sabbath and the 10 commandments because of what the bible says. Scriptures like Heb4:9-11 "So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works as God did from His. Therefore let us be dilligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience." 1jhn2:3"By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments."
Do you believe the part of the Bible that calls the Ten Commandments the "ministry of death engraved on tablets of stone"? (II Cor 3:7-18) How about the part of the Bible that tells us to cast off the covenant from Sinai? (Gal 4:21-31)
Also, you shouldn't defend Sabbath observance by using Hebrews 4, your own theologians are on record as saying that Hebrews 4 is not the place to go to defend Sabbath observance.
Like I said the laws are written on our hearts now. 2Cor3:3 says "..written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." The scriptures are pretty clear on this subject.
@michellenealy When a parent lays down the law for his children, whether it's written in their heart (which one hopes) or engraved in the pavement outside the front door, those kids will get in trouble for not obeying, and especially for teaching the other kids not to obey.
@michellenealy I really appreciate all of your comments, so it kind of shocked me to see that some of them were removed. I'm not sure exactly how this works, but one thing I know: I did not remove them. Whether I agree with the poster or not, I prefer to allow a free discussion, unless the poster goes off topic.
@Hawgdawgrain It is true that some things in the Bible are more difficult to understand than others, but one thing is very clear: Stealing, lying, and murder are just as wrong as they have always been, old or new covenant. Since they were all written on tables of stone and placed inside the ark, and make perfect logical sense for a civilized society, it is clear God wants us to keep them. If we reject the clear things we will be given over to strong delusions and will eventually believe a lie
If the Sabbath commandment was established in the Garden of Eden, why is this ordinance not mentioned for a period of almost 2500 years? Why does the book Deut. specifically say, 'Our father's did not know God's laws and commandments, which were given to us and not them.' ?? Clearly in the Genesis account the Seventh Day is mentioned, but not a sabbath ordinance. Who rested? God rested. Why? because of the work He had was finished. Did Adam rest? the Bible mentions no word of it.

@AlaskaDreamGirl I appreciate your input on the Sabbath, even if I disagree with you. This is an open forum with respect to the Sabbath issue. However, I deleted your post attacking a particular denomination. If you want to be an accuser of other Christians, please find another forum for that.
@AlaskaDreamGirl "IF the Sabbath commandment was established in the garden of Eden..." Sounds like the tempter who came to Jesus in the wilderness! Jesus responded with "It is written." I will let Genesis 2:1-3 speak for itself. Not only did God REST, but it says he BLESSED and MADE HOLY the Seventh day.
The Decalogue - 10C - was not limited in time. Even though it was presented in written form to Israel at Mount Sinai, the commandments were known before. Abraham kept God's laws (Gen 26:5).
The Sabbath (shabbath-NOUN) is not in Genesis. The first time the Sabbath is mentioned is Exodus 16. I find it interesting that Moses, a sabbath observer, did not record the day in Genesis.
Possibly because He understood that the Sabbath was given to Israel. Reliable historical sources show the traditional understanding of the Jews: The Sabbath was not commanded at creation, and was not commanded for Gentiles. It applied to Israelites only.
@Hawgdawgrain You keep repeating the same refrain, that the word SHABBATH is not in Genesis. I agree with you that that particular word is not there. What I have said all along is that the Seventh-day was blessed and made holy in Genesis 2:1-3. The fourth commandment says that 's the basis for the weekly Sabbath rest - not just in the old covenant, but also in the new or everlasting covenant. In fact, the gospel prophet Isaiah points to Sabbath keeping on the new earth in chapter 66.
@dragetb - It takes 2 variables for the Sabbath to be observed. Israel was pointed back to God's "my rest" of Creation (Exodus 20:8-11) and also their deliverance from slavery (Deut 5:15). SDA's rarely mention the text in Deuteronomy but it is a necessary variable. A variable neither Adam or Eve, or anyone prior to Exodus 16 could have had. It's impossible to say that anyone prior to Israel's deliverance observed the Sabbath simply because one of the variables hadn't even taken place yet.
Isaiah's prophecy has a local context and he is simply painting a picture of the glory of Israel had they turned to God fully and ultimatley accepted the Messiah.
But friend, he is not describing Heaven. Not the Heaven I'm going to be a part of...
@Hawgdawgrain My friend, to me this is total nonsense and your personal opinion. Many of Isaiah's prophecies transcended the local context, including Isaiah 9, Isaiah 53, Isaiah 58, and Isaiah 66. You appear to be a dispensationalist, so we're probably not going have a meeting of minds with respect to the value of the law and the prophets to the born-again Christian. It's time to move on.
@AlaskaDreamGirl The fourth commandment says to remember the Sabbath day and do no work in it because God rested on the seventh day. Sounds pretty clear to me. I wonder why Sunday keepers think keeping Sunday is important if this commandment is irrelevant.
You sense that my mind is closed and yet you are the one who is refusing to answer my questions. Truth has nothing to fear of an honest investigation friend.
The Scriptures are clear that we are not under the Old Covenant, the covenant from Sinai. We are commanded to "cast it off". (Gal 4:21-31)
@Hawgdawgrain I'm just wondering: If the fourth commandment is irrelevant, then why would the Catholic church use the change they made, from Saturday to Sunday, as a mark of their authority? Also, why would the other nine be important, or aren't they?
@geandraget The Old Covenant (10C's) did its job well in leading us to Jesus (Gal 3:19). We are no longer under it however (Rom 7:1-6; Rom 10:4). It is "less glorious", "obsolete", "fading away" and "old" when compared to the New Covenant. Jesus' Law in the New Covenant is a higher Law. 10C's forbid murder, the Law of Christ forbids anger. 10C's forbid adultery, the Law of Christ forbids lust. I don't care what the Catholics claim they have or have not done. I'm concerned with Scripture alone.
@Hawgdawgrain How does turning the microscope on something make it obsolete? I would think it makes it clearer. When lusting one "has already committed adultery with her in his heart". So it's a sin to lust but not to do the act? That makes no sense. Jesus took it to the next level and said the commandment is broken in the heart long before it's done in the flesh; this does not mean that the physical act is OK.
@Hawgdawgrain Even though God's presence is everywhere, He told Moses to take off his sandals at the burning bush because it was holy ground. God can make a place holy and a time period holy if He so chooses, and we can't argue that a day is as good as any other any more than Moses could have declared the ground near other bushes holy. When a certain religious power claims it has the right to change times and laws and brags that it has done so, I had better care what it means.
But it doesn't affect New Covenant believers who are not concerned with observing special days, months, seasons and years (Gal 4:9-11).
I don't observe any day as holy. Sunday, Tuesday...whatever. We are resting in Jesus 24/7 because we have accepted His invitation in Matthew 11:28 and experience a "sabbath-like" (sabbatismos - Heb 4) rest. We enter into it "TODAY" according to Hebrews 4:7!
Hallelujah! This is "holy" time right this second!
@Hawgdawgrain The new covenant is not something much different from the old covenant made with Israel on Mount Sinai. In fact, problem with the Sinai covenant was not that it was old or outmoded. The problem, instead, was that it was broken (See Jeremiah31:32) In fact, Jeremiah 31:31-34, among other passages, show that many facets of the "old covenant" remain in the new one. The "new covenant" is, in a sense, a "renewed covenant." It is the completion, or the fulfillment, of the old one.
It is very different! Scripture plainly says in Hebrews 8:8,9 that "It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers..."
I agree the Old Covenant has been completed and fulfilled. Jesus made that clear in Matthew 5:17-19. Paul confirms in Romans 10:4 that "Christ is the end of the law".
What is the covenant God made with Israel at Sinai?
@Hawgdawgrain The problem with the old covenant was not the covenant itself but the failure of the people to grasp it in faith (Heb. 4:2). The superiority of the new to the old lies in that Jesus— instead of being revealed only through the animal sacrifices — now appears for real on the cross and in his high-priestly ministry. In other words, the salvation offered in the old covenant is the same offered in the new. In the new, however, we find a more complete revelation of God's love.
But the old has ended. It was "added" "until" the "Seed" (Gal 3:19). It had a beginning and an end.
If you believe it somehow has jurisdiction within the New Covenant, then you are indebted to obey it all. Every one of its 613 commandments found within the Mitzvot.
You can't simply pick and choose which parts of an "obsolete" "less glorious" "fading away" covenant you wish to obey. Paul disagrees with that theology in Gal 5:3.
And yes I do believe observing the Sabbath will be the test of loyalty.....
However I think it is far more important to have a close relationship with Christ than doctrinal ideas. They are very important. But if you do not have a walk with Christ what good does all of that do anyway..
Maybe people will be saved that never kept a Sabbath in there lives...because they didn't know better.
@acandrewcochran I agree wholeheartedly that the real issue is not the Sabbath but how we relate to our Lord and Savior. Many will be saved who have never observed the Sabbath. They've loved the Lord with all their heart and followed him to the best of their knowledge. It's all about heart and about who and how we worship. If we truly love the Lord, we will also love the truth and continually seek to obtain a deeper understanding of God's will - even if it leads to hardship and suffering.
There are many of us who have been presented with the Sabbath doctrine and we reject it based upon Scripture and our love for the New Covenant sealed with Christ's blood. The New Covenant is not concerned with observing the special days of the old covenant (Gal 4:9-11).
That covenant is "old" "less glorious" "fading away" and is a "ministry of death engraved on tablets of stone" (II Cor 3:7-18)
The Sabbath is NOT the Seal of God and will NOT be the "test of loyalty". Scripture makes it clear what the Seal of God is:
"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit." Eph 1:13
"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." Eph 4:30
@Hawgdawgrain There are two meanings of the word 'Seal" in the English language. You use a seal to make a seal, or an imprint. Clearly, the Holy Spirit is the Sealer, or Seal, but He leaves an imprint or a seal on our minds and hearts. The Holy Spirit writes God's laws in our minds, or foreheads (Hebrews 8, Hebrews 10, Revelation 7:1-3). The evidence that we are sealed with the Spirit of Truth is if we have a love for the truth and His commandments dwell in our hearts.
Are the "killing letters" on the "ministry of death engraved on tablets of stone" (II Cor 3:7-18) written on our hearts? How can something that is called "obsolete" not be obsolete?
On the contrary, it is the Law of Christ that is on our hearts (I Cor 9:21; Gal 6:2), not Israel's covenant.
What is the the covenant made with Israel at Sinai? (Ex 34:28; Deut 4:13; 9:9,11; I Kings 8:21; Heb 9:4)
@Hawgdawgrain Sorry, I cannot continue to communicate with someone who does not see any value in the Ten Commandments. I see no difference between the law of Christ and the Ten Commandments except that one was written on tablets of stone and the other on the heart. Both of us cannot be right, so some day very soon one of us will be bitterly disappointed. "Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus". Rev 14:12; Rev 12:17
"If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day. In keeping the Sunday they are following the law of the Catholic Church." - Albert Smith, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, speaking for the Cardinal.
In Colossians 2 Paul referred to seven annual feasts – also referred to as ceremonial Sabbath's in the Old Testament – that had nothing to do with the seventh day Sabbath. It's rather revealing that the the Ten Commandments were kept INSIDE the Ark of the covenant, while the ceremonial laws were written on a scroll and kept in a pocket on the OUTSIDE of the Ark. This was meant to distinguish between the eternal Law and the temporary requirements.
The Sabbat was never the sign of the old covenant - circumcision was. In fact, the Sabbath was instituted by the Creator himself in the perfect garden of Eden, long before the nation of Israel existed. That's why the Sabbath was included in the Ten Commandments - not in the ceremonial laws, the shadow. Jesus said, in Mark 2, that the Sabbath was made for man - not for the Jews. I am a new covenant Christian and a Sabbath keeper, because of the example set by my Lord and his apostles.
@MountCarmel2010 The Sabbath was a Mosaic Covenant very much considered part of Torah, As Circumcision was a Abrahamic Covenant, as a Rainbow was Noahidic Covenant, and so on on...I believe a total of 7 Covenants in the Old Testament. Jesus fulfilled all these Covenants. That is why it is called the New Testament/New Covenant scripture. The Exodus clearly states this Covenant (Sabbath and the purpose for it), in Eden, Adam and Eve lived in a subliminal sabbath, for they knew no work.
@AlaskaDreamGirl No matter how you spin the Word of God, the Sabbath is clearly part of the Ten Commandments in my Bible. In fact, it is the only commandment of the 10 that includes the seal of the living God as Creator of heaven and earth. Is it all right to kill or to steal or to covet your neighbor's goods? The Sabbath commandment is part of the same eternal law. Jesus kept the Sabbath. The apostles kept the Sabbath. Isaiah tells us that we will keep the Sabbath on the new earth.
Ok, so since we are "spiritual Israel" we're on the hook for all 613 commandments God gave to Israel? Not sure that is correct. The covenant made with Israel is "obsolete" "less glorious" and "fading away" according to the New Testament.
I'd really like to see a Scripture from the New Testament that shows the Gentiles were given the sign of Israel's covenant. Even further, I'd like to see the Sabbath ever commanded to be observed in the New Testament.
Why do people assume that the Sabbath had anything to do with the Israelites? Look up in your Bible where the Sabbath was first mentioned. It was first mentioned at creation. God hallowed that day and pronounced it good. That was his design for mankind. But as usual, mankind doesn't want to do what God pronounces good.
As to the NT talking about keeping the commandments, Matt 5:18, 19. Matt 15:8,9. Rom. 7:12-14. 1 Cor 7:19. 1 John 2:3,4. 1 John 5:2,3. Rev 14:12. Rev 22:12-14.
Shabbath (NOUN) does not appear in Genesis. God's Shabath (VERB - Hebrews 4)) does appear there, but the Sabbath does not. Check your Hebrew...
As to your Scriptures, none of those reference the Ten Commandments, they reference the commandments of Jesus (entole). When speaking of the Torah (which includes the 10C's), the NT uses "nomos".
Where was the Sabbath ever commanded to be observed in the New Testament for Gentile New Covenant believers?
@Hawgdawgrain "The Bible does say in Isaiah 8:20, To the law and the testimony. if they speak not according to this word, there is no light in them."
Whenever I see someone attempting to belittle the Law of God, I become very suspicious. God said, "I do not change." Study out the commands of Jesus for living under grace and you will find that the ones He gives magnify the Ten Commandments and are in all actuality a higher standard by which we must live.
@Hawgdawgrain There's a clear distinction in the Old Testament between the law of Moses and the law of God. The scroll with ceremonial, civil, and health laws were kept in a pocket on the outside of the Ark of the Covenant, while the tablets with the Ten Commandments were kept inside. This distinction signified the difference between the temporary and the eternal. Check out Revelation 11:18, which shows that the ark of God's covenant is still relevant today.
There is NOT a clear distinction in the Old Testament between the Law of Moses and the Law of God.
The 10C's alone are never called the Law of God in Scripture, no where. Israel had ONE LAW (Numbers 15:16) given to it and the Gentiles who joined the Mosaic Covenant were given only ONE LAW.
The stone tablets were a suzerainty treaty common in the ancient near east. Besides, the 10C's were recorded in that "book" you called "temporary" as well.
@Hawgdawgrain You're saying that the Ten Words (commandments) were not considered different from the rest? So, what did Moses bring back from the mountain top? The entire law? Sure, the Ten Words were included in the scroll, BUT THEY WERE ALSO ON THE TABLETS INSIDE THE ARK. The Bible says they were written by the finger of God. The mosaic law was NOT one law, but included ceremonial, civil and health laws. Writing off the 10 Words as just another treaty shows your true colors.
How many Laws were the Gentiles given when they joined the Mosaic Covenant? (Numbers 15:16)
The stone tablets were the covenant document itself, they are the covenant made with Israel at Sinai (Ex 34:28; Deut 4:13; 9:9,11; I Kings 8:21; Heb 9:4)
No where in Scripture are the Ten Commandments alone called the "Law of God" or the "Law of the Lord". It is ONE LAW, that is the plain teaching Scripture.
@Hawgdawgrain It's also very disconcerting when you use an elitist approach such as "Check your Hebrew..." This is exactly the kind of attitude that brought on the Dark Ages – where the Bible could only be correctly interpreted or understood by Catholic theologians and the priesthood. When we study the word with a Berean attitude – with a heart longing to honor God and worship him in words and deeds – we will find truth even if we don't know Biblical Hebrew.
Do you care nothing of the original languages? You contend that the Sabbath is mentioned in Genesis. I'm simply showing you that it does not. My comment for you to check the Hebrew was an offering on my part to search the Scriptures, which is what the Bereans were commended for...
It's interesting that Moses, a sabbath observer, did not mention the Sabbath (Shabbath-NOUN) in Genesis.
@Hawgdawgrain I do care about the original languages - in fact, I have studied both Greek and Hebrew - but I do not believe my knowledge of those languages elevate me above a genuine Christian without that knowledge. Your pride shows through in everything you write. The fact is that any Christian who wants to know the will of God, will find it when they compare Scripture with Scripture for the purpose of worshipping Him in word and deed. About Genesis: Moses says God rested on the Seventh day.
Where have I said that my knowledge of Greek and Hebrew elevates me above anyone? Why do you believe I am being prideful? Why does it always come to this with SDA's? You show them their error from Scripture and instead of admitting their error, they call you prideful.
@Hawgdawgrain There are many Christians who keep the Sabbath holy, not only Seventh-Day Adventists. Are you an ex-Adventist, since you're using the term SDA?
I'm a born-again new covenant Christian who does not care about denominational labels. I just want to serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm sure you're sincere, my friend, but I believe you're sincerely wrong. One day we will both stand before the judgment of God and will answer to him.
@Hawgdawgrain We'll just have to agree to disagree. My faith in my Creator and Savior Jesus Christ leads me to want to obey His Word. Hebrews 8 and 10 state that the Holy Spirit will put God's laws (nomos - NOT entole) into our minds and hearts. Those chapters were clearly written for New Covenant Christians - God's spiritual Israel - not the nation Israel.
If one believes Hebrews 8 and 10 means that the "nomos" given to Israel is what is written on the New Covenant believers heart, then they must observe all 613 commandents given to Israel. For "nomos" always includes the entire law given to Israel.
You also have to throw out the rest of the book of Hebrews which clearly shows the Old Covenant has ended.
Question: What is the covenant God made with Israel at Sinai? (Ex 34:28; Deut 4:13; 9:9,11; I Kings 8:21; Heb 9:4)
@Hawgdawgrain I believe you are in error, my friend. Sincere, but sincerely wrong. And I'm sure you feel the same about me. As said before, we'll have to agree to disagree on these matters.
@Hawgdawgrain I believe that many Christians who keep the Sabbath will not enter heaven, because they were never born again or lost their first love. Whether you're a Sabbath keeper or a Sunday keeper, you may be a 'minimalist' - someone whose motivation for action is not love but a desire to save their own skin by performing what they regard as the minimum 'requirements' for salvation. To them, Christianity is not about a personal relationship with Christ, but about a doctrinal package.
@Hawgdawgrain The Sabbath was a 'sign or covenant' with Israel only, for 'promised rest and deliverance'', not Creation. The Exodus clearly states this. Jesus fulfilled the 'promised rest and deliverance'. Jesus said "Come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest". The Sabbath was a 'shadow' of things to come, but the substance is Christ. If you need verses I would be willing to provide you with some. And true not one dot are tittle of the Law will change, they didn't change but.
This sounds more like the New Testament ethic to me. Seems like Paul called the Sabbath a "shadow" in Colossians 2:16.
Not sure a shadow should be kept, unless someone wants to, then that's fine. I just don't believe it's a matter of salvation. If it brings them joy, great, but it has nothing to do with going to Heaven or not.
I liked a lot of this video. I felt the melody of heaven. I can felt in the simplicity of her voice the callin' and hug of Jesus. this is my favorite stile of music!
Sarah Draget, God created you for His glory.You show this in your expression of praise to him.
Such a blessing! I wake up to this song every morning! She has such a blessing for words, music, and ideas! You can't find to much more out there that has this truth! Thanks Sarah and Sarah's Dad!!! :)
Jesus is our example, he went to services on what we now call Saturday. The apostles did, the prophets did, and so on. If the Sabbath had been changed, we would have no doubt about it, because there would be dozens and dozens of verses in Scripture to make sure the change was well noted. There are none in Scripture. Breaking bread doesn't mean a church service. And setting aside tithes don't either. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. God bless
Sarah, see 1st c. Bishop of Antioch, Ignatius' Letter the Magnesians. (Found easily online.) He knew, was taught by and anointed bishop by the Apostles themselves. He clearly writes that sunday was the Lord's day. Also see the Didache and Justin Martyr's writings. They are early 2nd. c. that state the same. When John wrote Revelation near the end of the 1st. the "Lord's day" was already well understood to mean Sunday. When you have looked up those references, I can give you others.
@MichaelMackins I am no theologian, but I must say I am confused. First of all, is the Sabbath important to keep or not. If not, then why is it part of the Catholic ten commandments? Second, even if (and I am not convinced) John had a vision on Sunday that would not make it the Sabbath. Even if the disciples met on Sunday it means nothing, as they met daily. So why are we turning one of commandments into an option?
@MichaelMackins I am also confused as to why there is such a thing as "Jewish Sabbath" vs. "Christian Lord's Day", but no such thing as "Jewish Murder Commandment". How can any power take it upon themselves to transfer the God given solemnity from one day to another? I thought Jesus said one jot or tlttle will not be changed from the law until heaven and earth pass away. Why is it still relevant not to steal or murder, but OK to work on a day which God sanctified and said "keep"?
@MichaelMackins Those 2nd-century references - Didache 14:1, Magnesians 9:1 and the false Gospel of Peter 35,50 - prove absolutely nothing. The New Testament writers tell us that even in their day false teachings had come into the church, so I would not be surprised if the false Lord's day - Sunday - was celebrated by some even in the first century. However, Revelation and the rest of the New Testament speak to the validity of the Seventh-day Sabbath only.
@dragetb The Bible provides no info past the 1st c. Historical docs must be consulted. My point was not about Saturday observance, but Sunday. The East did fasted on Sat. till the 7th c. Irrefutably, the earliest churches (see Rev.) observed the Lord's Day on Sun. Sun. did not replace the 4th commandment as many SDAs teach, but was celebrated as Resurrection day. You are confusing the two. The Lord's day became a Christian "sabbath" beginning in the 7th c. but no at the time of Constantine.
@draget, This is my field of expertise and I assure you there are no legitimate scholars who will disagree. Dozens of documents prove the early church went to services on Sunday. Please provide one authentic document that refutes my claim. (Online sources: Didache, Ignatius, Justin Martyr). The NT story of Christianity ends ca. 70, so you must look at other documents for info past that.
You are young, so your misunderstanding of this subject is understandable. God bless and keep studying!
@MaryKatherineTeresa Sarah is correct, Christians did not "always" keep Sunday. Through every century to present day there have been a remnant that do keep God's Sabbath. Many teachings of paganism were adopted into Christianity in early centuries and even "sanctioned" as holy -- Sun Day worship being one of them. Christians in the early centuries said Sunday was the new sabbath to celebrate the Lord's resurrection, but baptism was for that purpose. To put it bluntly Sun day worship is of Satan
Please read the early christian leaders-- Ignatius, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr. The early church worshipped on Sunday in fact, EVERY day of the week. (See Acts.) Where you are mistaken is that you believe because they worshipped on Sunday that they replaced the Sabbath. No, for many, many centuries Christians celebrated Sunday as the day of Resurrection--not as a new Sabbath. Catholics DO NOT see Sunday in the strict sense being a Sabbath (as the Jewish Sabbath of the OT).
@ILOVETHEOLOGY777 I have read the early christian "leaders," but rather I say, read the Bible. Read what Jesus said. Not once was a new day of rest sanctioned nor was the sabbath moved. I have looked at the verses in Acts and there is not one mention of the Sabbath, except to say it was kept by the disciples. It is the fourth commandment God spoke from Sinai and Thus Saith the Lord, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips." (Psa 89:34) God is not a Liar.
I praise the Lord that you have made meaningful beautiful music! Keep following Him and I know that He will give you more to bless us all with. This style of music deserves those lyrics.

I believe in the sabbath and the 10 commandments because of what the bible says. Scriptures like Heb4:9-11 "So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works as God did from His. Therefore let us be dilligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience." 1jhn2:3"By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments."
michellenealy 1 year ago
@michellenealy
Besides, we enter rest "TODAY" (Hebrews 4:7)

Like I said the laws are written on our hearts now. 2Cor3:3 says "..written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts." The scriptures are pretty clear on this subject.

@michellenealy When a parent lays down the law for his children, whether it's written in their heart (which one hopes) or engraved in the pavement outside the front door, those kids will get in trouble for not obeying, and especially for teaching the other kids not to obey.

Did Adam rest? the Bible mentions no word of it.

dragetb 1 year ago
@AlaskaDreamGirl "IF the Sabbath commandment was established in the garden of Eden..." Sounds like the tempter who came to Jesus in the wilderness! Jesus responded with "It is written." I will let Genesis 2:1-3 speak for itself. Not only did God REST, but it says he BLESSED and MADE HOLY the Seventh day.
The Decalogue - 10C - was not limited in time. Even though it was presented in written form to Israel at Mount Sinai, the commandments were known before. Abraham kept God's laws (Gen 26:5).
dragetb 1 year ago
@dragetb
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain You keep repeating the same refrain, that the word SHABBATH is not in Genesis. I agree with you that that particular word is not there. What I have said all along is that the Seventh-day was blessed and made holy in Genesis 2:1-3. The fourth commandment says that 's the basis for the weekly Sabbath rest - not just in the old covenant, but also in the new or everlasting covenant. In fact, the gospel prophet Isaiah points to Sabbath keeping on the new earth in chapter 66.
dragetb 1 year ago

Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain My friend, to me this is total nonsense and your personal opinion. Many of Isaiah's prophecies transcended the local context, including Isaiah 9, Isaiah 53, Isaiah 58, and Isaiah 66. You appear to be a dispensationalist, so we're probably not going have a meeting of minds with respect to the value of the law and the prophets to the born-again Christian. It's time to move on.
dragetb 1 year ago
@dragetb
So you want to say Isaiah was "literal" in Isaiah 66:23 and "symbolic" in Isaiah 65:20 even though they have the same identical context and author?
Sorry friend, can't do that. Basic hermeneutics are violated by such actions.
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@AlaskaDreamGirl The fourth commandment says to remember the Sabbath day and do no work in it because God rested on the seventh day. Sounds pretty clear to me. I wonder why Sunday keepers think keeping Sunday is important if this commandment is irrelevant.
geandraget 1 year ago
@dragetb
Praying for my friends in the SDA Church.
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain I'm just wondering: If the fourth commandment is irrelevant, then why would the Catholic church use the change they made, from Saturday to Sunday, as a mark of their authority? Also, why would the other nine be important, or aren't they?
geandraget 1 year ago
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain How does turning the microscope on something make it obsolete? I would think it makes it clearer. When lusting one "has already committed adultery with her in his heart". So it's a sin to lust but not to do the act? That makes no sense. Jesus took it to the next level and said the commandment is broken in the heart long before it's done in the flesh; this does not mean that the physical act is OK.
geandraget 1 year ago
@geandraget
It proves the former Law is obsolete. Jesus referenced commands from several sections of the Law, not just the stone tablets. (Eye for and eye, etc.)
Please answer my question: What is the covenant God made with Israel at Sinai?
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain Even though God's presence is everywhere, He told Moses to take off his sandals at the burning bush because it was holy ground. God can make a place holy and a time period holy if He so chooses, and we can't argue that a day is as good as any other any more than Moses could have declared the ground near other bushes holy. When a certain religious power claims it has the right to change times and laws and brags that it has done so, I had better care what it means.
geandraget 1 year ago
@geandraget
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain The new covenant is not something much different from the old covenant made with Israel on Mount Sinai. In fact, problem with the Sinai covenant was not that it was old or outmoded. The problem, instead, was that it was broken (See Jeremiah31:32) In fact, Jeremiah 31:31-34, among other passages, show that many facets of the "old covenant" remain in the new one. The "new covenant" is, in a sense, a "renewed covenant." It is the completion, or the fulfillment, of the old one.
dragetb 1 year ago
@dragetb
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain The problem with the old covenant was not the covenant itself but the failure of the people to grasp it in faith (Heb. 4:2). The superiority of the new to the old lies in that Jesus— instead of being revealed only through the animal sacrifices — now appears for real on the cross and in his high-priestly ministry. In other words, the salvation offered in the old covenant is the same offered in the new. In the new, however, we find a more complete revelation of God's love.
dragetb 1 year ago
@dragetb
You still haven't answered my question :(
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
I am a Seventh Day Adventist....
And yes I do believe observing the Sabbath will be the test of loyalty.....
However I think it is far more important to have a close relationship with Christ than doctrinal ideas. They are very important. But if you do not have a walk with Christ what good does all of that do anyway..
Maybe people will be saved that never kept a Sabbath in there lives...because they didn't know better.
acandrewcochran 1 year ago
@acandrewcochran I agree wholeheartedly that the real issue is not the Sabbath but how we relate to our Lord and Savior. Many will be saved who have never observed the Sabbath. They've loved the Lord with all their heart and followed him to the best of their knowledge. It's all about heart and about who and how we worship. If we truly love the Lord, we will also love the truth and continually seek to obtain a deeper understanding of God's will - even if it leads to hardship and suffering.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@MountCarmel2010
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@acandrewcochran
Holy Spirit = Seal
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain There are two meanings of the word 'Seal" in the English language. You use a seal to make a seal, or an imprint. Clearly, the Holy Spirit is the Sealer, or Seal, but He leaves an imprint or a seal on our minds and hearts. The Holy Spirit writes God's laws in our minds, or foreheads (Hebrews 8, Hebrews 10, Revelation 7:1-3). The evidence that we are sealed with the Spirit of Truth is if we have a love for the truth and His commandments dwell in our hearts.
dragetb 1 year ago
@dragetb
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain Sorry, I cannot continue to communicate with someone who does not see any value in the Ten Commandments. I see no difference between the law of Christ and the Ten Commandments except that one was written on tablets of stone and the other on the heart. Both of us cannot be right, so some day very soon one of us will be bitterly disappointed. "Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus". Rev 14:12; Rev 12:17
dragetb 1 year ago
@dragetb
Do a study on John's usage of "law" and "commandments" and you'll stop quoting that verse as though it pertained to the commands on stone.
Would be so kind as to answer my last question? I provided the Scriptures above.
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
"If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day. In keeping the Sunday they are following the law of the Catholic Church." - Albert Smith, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, speaking for the Cardinal.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
In Colossians 2 Paul referred to seven annual feasts – also referred to as ceremonial Sabbath's in the Old Testament – that had nothing to do with the seventh day Sabbath. It's rather revealing that the the Ten Commandments were kept INSIDE the Ark of the covenant, while the ceremonial laws were written on a scroll and kept in a pocket on the OUTSIDE of the Ark. This was meant to distinguish between the eternal Law and the temporary requirements.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
The Sabbat was never the sign of the old covenant - circumcision was. In fact, the Sabbath was instituted by the Creator himself in the perfect garden of Eden, long before the nation of Israel existed. That's why the Sabbath was included in the Ten Commandments - not in the ceremonial laws, the shadow. Jesus said, in Mark 2, that the Sabbath was made for man - not for the Jews. I am a new covenant Christian and a Sabbath keeper, because of the example set by my Lord and his apostles.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@MountCarmel2010 The Sabbath was a Mosaic Covenant very much considered part of Torah, As Circumcision was a Abrahamic Covenant, as a Rainbow was Noahidic Covenant, and so on on...I believe a total of 7 Covenants in the Old Testament. Jesus fulfilled all these Covenants. That is why it is called the New Testament/New Covenant scripture. The Exodus clearly states this Covenant (Sabbath and the purpose for it), in Eden, Adam and Eve lived in a subliminal sabbath, for they knew no work.
AlaskaDreamGirl 1 year ago
@AlaskaDreamGirl No matter how you spin the Word of God, the Sabbath is clearly part of the Ten Commandments in my Bible. In fact, it is the only commandment of the 10 that includes the seal of the living God as Creator of heaven and earth. Is it all right to kill or to steal or to covet your neighbor's goods? The Sabbath commandment is part of the same eternal law. Jesus kept the Sabbath. The apostles kept the Sabbath. Isaiah tells us that we will keep the Sabbath on the new earth.

Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain Gods children Is spiritual Israel :D So, Gods convent with us never changed, because God Himself can not change!
nckracing 1 year ago
@nckracing
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain
Rev 14:12. Rev 22:12-14.
goldenstreets777 1 year ago
@goldenstreets777
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain "The Bible does say in Isaiah 8:20, To the law and the testimony. if they speak not according to this word, there is no light in them."
Whenever I see someone attempting to belittle the Law of God, I become very suspicious. God said, "I do not change." Study out the commands of Jesus for living under grace and you will find that the ones He gives magnify the Ten Commandments and are in all actuality a higher standard by which we must live.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@MountCarmel2010
What Law was in place when Isaiah wrote those words? The Mosaic Covenant from Sinai. Do you adhere to all 613 commandments found in that Law?
The prophet is NOT only speaking of the commands found on the stone tablets of the covenant. He is speaking of the "ENTIRE" Law.
So, unless you are observing all 613 commands found in the Law Isaiah is speaking of, then you are using the text incorrectly.
If you are observing the entire Law, then I apologize.
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain There's a clear distinction in the Old Testament between the law of Moses and the law of God. The scroll with ceremonial, civil, and health laws were kept in a pocket on the outside of the Ark of the Covenant, while the tablets with the Ten Commandments were kept inside. This distinction signified the difference between the temporary and the eternal. Check out Revelation 11:18, which shows that the ark of God's covenant is still relevant today.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@MountCarmel2010
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain You're saying that the Ten Words (commandments) were not considered different from the rest? So, what did Moses bring back from the mountain top? The entire law? Sure, the Ten Words were included in the scroll, BUT THEY WERE ALSO ON THE TABLETS INSIDE THE ARK. The Bible says they were written by the finger of God. The mosaic law was NOT one law, but included ceremonial, civil and health laws. Writing off the 10 Words as just another treaty shows your true colors.
dragetb 1 year ago
@dragetb

@MountCarmel2010
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain I do care about the original languages - in fact, I have studied both Greek and Hebrew - but I do not believe my knowledge of those languages elevate me above a genuine Christian without that knowledge. Your pride shows through in everything you write. The fact is that any Christian who wants to know the will of God, will find it when they compare Scripture with Scripture for the purpose of worshipping Him in word and deed. About Genesis: Moses says God rested on the Seventh day.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@MountCarmel2010
Where have I said that my knowledge of Greek and Hebrew elevates me above anyone? Why do you believe I am being prideful? Why does it always come to this with SDA's? You show them their error from Scripture and instead of admitting their error, they call you prideful.
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain There are many Christians who keep the Sabbath holy, not only Seventh-Day Adventists. Are you an ex-Adventist, since you're using the term SDA?
I'm a born-again new covenant Christian who does not care about denominational labels. I just want to serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm sure you're sincere, my friend, but I believe you're sincerely wrong. One day we will both stand before the judgment of God and will answer to him.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain We'll just have to agree to disagree. My faith in my Creator and Savior Jesus Christ leads me to want to obey His Word. Hebrews 8 and 10 state that the Holy Spirit will put God's laws (nomos - NOT entole) into our minds and hearts. Those chapters were clearly written for New Covenant Christians - God's spiritual Israel - not the nation Israel.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@MountCarmel2010
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain I believe you are in error, my friend. Sincere, but sincerely wrong. And I'm sure you feel the same about me. As said before, we'll have to agree to disagree on these matters.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@MountCarmel2010
SDA's believe observing the Sabbath will be the "test of loyalty" between true and false believers. Do you agree?
Hawgdawgrain 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain I believe that many Christians who keep the Sabbath will not enter heaven, because they were never born again or lost their first love. Whether you're a Sabbath keeper or a Sunday keeper, you may be a 'minimalist' - someone whose motivation for action is not love but a desire to save their own skin by performing what they regard as the minimum 'requirements' for salvation. To them, Christianity is not about a personal relationship with Christ, but about a doctrinal package.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@Hawgdawgrain The Sabbath was a 'sign or covenant' with Israel only, for 'promised rest and deliverance'', not Creation. The Exodus clearly states this. Jesus fulfilled the 'promised rest and deliverance'. Jesus said "Come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest". The Sabbath was a 'shadow' of things to come, but the substance is Christ. If you need verses I would be willing to provide you with some. And true not one dot are tittle of the Law will change, they didn't change but.

@AlaskaDreamGirl

MichaelMackins 1 year ago
@MichaelMackins I am no theologian, but I must say I am confused. First of all, is the Sabbath important to keep or not. If not, then why is it part of the Catholic ten commandments? Second, even if (and I am not convinced) John had a vision on Sunday that would not make it the Sabbath. Even if the disciples met on Sunday it means nothing, as they met daily. So why are we turning one of commandments into an option?
geandraget 1 year ago
@MichaelMackins I am also confused as to why there is such a thing as "Jewish Sabbath" vs. "Christian Lord's Day", but no such thing as "Jewish Murder Commandment". How can any power take it upon themselves to transfer the God given solemnity from one day to another? I thought Jesus said one jot or tlttle will not be changed from the law until heaven and earth pass away. Why is it still relevant not to steal or murder, but OK to work on a day which God sanctified and said "keep"?
geandraget 1 year ago
@MichaelMackins Those 2nd-century references - Didache 14:1, Magnesians 9:1 and the false Gospel of Peter 35,50 - prove absolutely nothing. The New Testament writers tell us that even in their day false teachings had come into the church, so I would not be surprised if the false Lord's day - Sunday - was celebrated by some even in the first century. However, Revelation and the rest of the New Testament speak to the validity of the Seventh-day Sabbath only.
MountCarmel2010 1 year ago
@dragetb The Bible provides no info past the 1st c. Historical docs must be consulted. My point was not about Saturday observance, but Sunday. The East did fasted on Sat. till the 7th c. Irrefutably, the earliest churches (see Rev.) observed the Lord's Day on Sun. Sun. did not replace the 4th commandment as many SDAs teach, but was celebrated as Resurrection day. You are confusing the two. The Lord's day became a Christian "sabbath" beginning in the 7th c. but no at the time of Constantine.
MichaelMackins 1 year ago
@MichaelMackins Michael the Bible will tell you what day is the Lord's Day, just look at Isaiah 58:13.
shannonk22 1 year ago
@draget, This is my field of expertise and I assure you there are no legitimate scholars who will disagree. Dozens of documents prove the early church went to services on Sunday. Please provide one authentic document that refutes my claim. (Online sources: Didache, Ignatius, Justin Martyr). The NT story of Christianity ends ca. 70, so you must look at other documents for info past that.
You are young, so your misunderstanding of this subject is understandable. God bless and keep studying!
MichaelMackins 1 year ago
@MaryKatherineTeresa Sarah is correct, Christians did not "always" keep Sunday. Through every century to present day there have been a remnant that do keep God's Sabbath. Many teachings of paganism were adopted into Christianity in early centuries and even "sanctioned" as holy -- Sun Day worship being one of them. Christians in the early centuries said Sunday was the new sabbath to celebrate the Lord's resurrection, but baptism was for that purpose. To put it bluntly Sun day worship is of Satan
RepaireroftheBreach 1 year ago
Please read the early christian leaders-- Ignatius, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr. The early church worshipped on Sunday in fact, EVERY day of the week. (See Acts.) Where you are mistaken is that you believe because they worshipped on Sunday that they replaced the Sabbath. No, for many, many centuries Christians celebrated Sunday as the day of Resurrection--not as a new Sabbath. Catholics DO NOT see Sunday in the strict sense being a Sabbath (as the Jewish Sabbath of the OT).
ILOVETHEOLOGY777 1 year ago
@ILOVETHEOLOGY777 I have read the early christian "leaders," but rather I say, read the Bible. Read what Jesus said. Not once was a new day of rest sanctioned nor was the sabbath moved. I have looked at the verses in Acts and there is not one mention of the Sabbath, except to say it was kept by the disciples. It is the fourth commandment God spoke from Sinai and Thus Saith the Lord, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips." (Psa 89:34) God is not a Liar.
