  • Barry White, the horniest guy ever.

  • MikeHatton, bellow me, Terry Gibbs is blind.

  • @mikehattan She is blind

  • Another one hit wonder from the 1980's!

  • fantastic lip synching

  • Man I love this song, but I thought it was a guy singing it all this time. Interesting!

  • I love this, an oldie, but a GOODIE!!!! This song is and was always one of my all time faves!! :)

  • This makes me cry, but I am old.

  • Ok. she looks like Lady Gaga, and sounds like Neil Young.

  • good theme ,sounds incredible!!!!

  • I had the pleasure of seeing her perform with Conway Twitty back in the 80's and she was so great ,just an amazing performer and so nice,,she signed autographs after the show and you would never know she was blind at all, just an amazing lady

  • After all these years....had no idea a woman sang this

  • @bigcheese1973 You are just envious!!!

  • @bigcheese1973 Let's hear you do better, turd...

  • So she's the sister of the Bee Gees!

  • LOTS of airplay when it was new (pop and country charts) and then it fell off the face of the earth. Good song.

  • I had almost forgotten about this Talented Blind woman but looking at this video I remember she was like a female version of Ronnie Milsap. She even, in a way, kinda looks like him, almost like they could be twins or something.

  • I had no idea the voice was a woman...

  • com I had to write in the dots and break it up for you: any music book or video you want to find try there.

  • moviemarsdot

  • wwwdot

  • Try looking for it on ( there's a website called Movie Mars) go there I found the original Ghostbusters 1 Soundtrack on Cd there.

  • I Had always assumed she was the sister of the infamous Brothers Gibb, the one they never talked about!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG....SUCH TALENT!

  • An infectious song from when I was 8...And I'm ashamed to admit, I never knew until now that Terri is a woman! The lyrics made sense to me then, assuming it's literally The Devil at the door.

  • @VinylShellacLover you know. lol i am 40 and i always thought it was a gut as well until now i do feel ashamed but it is a honest mistake, but still never the less wonderful song

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! Happy belated birthday to you, I am a Georgia girl also, I hope your doing great!

  • this is a sweet song. But my fav or hers is "Papa's no fool" I can't find the song anywhere though. Does anyone have an idea? I recommend it.

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song and would have LOVED to see her in concert!! Maybe sometime?! Who knows?! What ever happened to her?! I'd love to see her back again!!

  • AWWW i feel yuong again listening to this song... It was one of my favoriets as a child!!!

  • After many many years , i suddenly remember what i don't miss about the 80's : Dione Warwick's noseholes .

  • how would she know he's got blue eyes? i luv Terry !!

  • Great song ,terrible audio.

  • 6-15-2011. Happy 57th Birthday, Terri. I live near Augusta, GA and have followed your career since Day 1.

  • Oh my gosh....I totally forgot about this song! They used to play it on the radio a lot at the time. I was 11.

  • Super great song, and I was lucky enough to see Terri Gibbs in concery many years ago.

  • I wish someone would upload the waltz she covered,I Wont Cry In Dallas, on same album

  • I wish someone would upload the tune she covered, "I Won't Cry In Dallas" .. on same album. She inspired me immensely

  • I wish someone would upload the tune she did, "I Won't Cry In Dallas" .. probably off the same album. This woman inspired me immensely

  • whatever happened 2 terri gibbs? She was so talented!

  • @1funkyangel

She lives in Harlem now. She still plays a mean piano, she is a wonderful woman. I visit her (bc I am friends with her son) and now her son is in the music business like her.

  • The Imogene Heap of her day.

  • Where has she been all my life. What a totally tripped out sound. Tk

  • OMG!!! I have sang this since I was a kid and never had a clue that a woman sang this. OMG! I can't believe it! Still love though!!!

  • I love that song by Terri Gibbs, one of my all time fav country songs ever !!!!!

  • SHE SUCKS AT LIP SINKIN TO HER OWN SONG. IS SHE TRYIN TO BE THE FEMALE RONNIE MILSAP? SHE GIVES ME THE CREAPS!

  • @SuperFrankypanky Well hey SuperFrankyPanky. She wasn't Lip Syncing. Did you not see her playing the piano?! Terri Gibbs is an AWESOME woman; she's blind, but she can sing & play. Watch her other videos, and let's see you do the same, busta? You give me the creeps just by your comment. If you don't like her, don't watch it. Simple as that. Good Day Home-Skillet.... Dueces II

  • when i first herd it i thought it was a guy singing until my mom told me but i like this song

  • How would she know if he has blue eyes and blue jeans if she's blind?

  • @jhillst Just cause she's blind, doesn't mean she's dumb. Blind people picture their own perspectives.

  • @311diamonddoll if a blind person did acid what would the hallucinations be like?

  • @killiptis HaHa, I could only imagine the possibilities. Far & Beyond: I would Assume. :)

  • I LOOOVED this song as a kid!

  • Holy Moly....Great song! It takes me back.....we used to watch Solid Gold every week!

  • This was one of my favorite songs back in the day :) Ronny Milsap is also a blind pianist/singer, as was Ray Charles. all are very talented, these ppl were on top in the 80's , they were just not Rock. It is fun to hear them again

  • whose knockin'?

  • I heard this song on the local radio station in the early 80's every day and loved it. Didn't know she was blind, now I'm older I appreciate her talent even more! God Bless you and Thank You for the memories!

  • Playing the piano while being blind?? If that is not talent, I don't know what the is. I can see clearly and is struggling like you wouldn't believe.

  • thanx for all the beauty you brought us to hear....now, if we could only see as clearly as you...wonderful bio by Dan White!!maybe i'll get to hear your new repertoire in person some day...still lost but lookin. Saminalabam

  • Can't believe this is not in the Classic Rock rotation. I'm 37 and played to my peers and they don't remember it. Nonetheless, they dig it.

  • my wifes grandma is best friends with terri gibbs

  • I was about seven when this song hit, and I don't remember her being blind. Of course actually seeing the song being performed was a rare thing anyway.

  • I have blue eyes and blue jeans..and a ......nevermind LOL

  • I might be the devil....lol...nice song darling!

  • This would make a kick-ass Heavy Metal song!

  • Billboard's #51 song of '81. Terri hit #3 AC, #8 country, #13 pop, in Billboard. Terri'll be able to see in Heaven. God bless! RIP, Barry White.

  • This is awesome!

  • I loved you and didn't know you were blind. I first heard you in Hollister, CA on KDON! I loved the song when I was about 6. Hope you are doing wel!!

  • I want to view the eyes without the sunglasses on why is this not possible, thank you sirs

  • this is the best song ever it speaks the truth

  • whose knockin'? :) Love this old song!

  • INMORTAL

  • Comment removed

  • @curtiscrush no, no, no!! It is not the devil or an odor its a lady who is nice but is unable to see friend!

  • ok theres a cover that 105.1 in LA played that someone else did with a more soultry beat and i cant finddddd it !

  • Oh noes. Vinyl2cd must be racist against blind people.

  • This was my favorite song of that year. 1981. I don't remember any controversy whatsoever. The lyric merely suggests that the person knockin' is tempting her. Using the devil as a figure of speech to refer to an old boyfriend or suitor has been done since the beginning of time.

  • It's amazing how close this 'live' version is close to the 'studio' version.

  • @rbw19800

This was not a live version. Sorry.

  • @skipper8257 Well it sounds different than the one I hear on the radio. My point is that some artists can pull it off without all the fancy equipment.

  • @rbw19800

Absolutely agree that some artist sound as good as there records when playing live but you have to have a great band with the original music sheets to do it.

  • @skipper8257 No it wasn't, because if you know anything about these shows you know that almost all the musical guests lip sync with a few rare exceptions.

  • @BigOrangeTitan I don't think this was lip syncing. The audio is off a little, I have noticed alot of the older videos are like that.

  • SHE GOES TO MY CHURCH!!!!!!!!!!

  • SHE GOES TO MY CHURCH

  • she just visited the restaurant i worked at and I had no idea who she was.

  • No man can deny the panful horrors of the gonerears.

  • WOW, great song.!

  • I love to sing this song when I do Karaoke

  • Great song! This takes me back to my childhood. I loved music of that time and still do!

  • I had this song going around in my head but I haven't heard it in ages UNTIL I finally clicked on here in order to hear it....lol Thank you VINYL2CD for posting this video. Thank you TERRI GIBBS for sharing your talents with the world. Wish you would of had alot more hits like this song!! God Bless You Terri!!!!

  • WOW!!! I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS IN FOREVER!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG AND TERRI!!!!!!

  • Ok, am I the only one that just discovered this song was sung by a woman? For the last 30 years I thought it was sung by a man!

  • Thanks for posting this!!

  • My Mom had a cassette with this on it. I used to listen to it all the time when I was a kid until it either wore out or the next car we bought didn't have a tape player.

  • @Gilligan346 HaHa.. So did I... My grandma had this cassette tape with a bunch of other 80's songs on it... I wore this song slap out...Never knew it was a woman that was singing it-- didn't know she was blind either... Loves this song!

  • @311diamonddoll Same here, by the vocals, I always thought it sounded like Glen Frey, I just didn't put it all together until later.

  • OMGAWD I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG IN AGES!!!!~This song was constantly played when it debut, everyone loved it!~Wish Terri could've had a longer career~thank you so much for posting 'n sharing this video!! 5 star rating..of course!

  • um...this song was never "controversial."

  • Yes this is a great song and Terri a wonderful person. I saw her on her first television appearance when she sang this song. The recording can be found at beemp3.com. Enjoy!!

  • Great song!

  • Song is great , wish I could download it . Video isn't that good a quality

  • @Mugwi33 If you ever find out where it can be downloaded let me know!

  • Yeah. She's a great woman. I haven't seen her in a while but I know her. Her Husband passed away 2 years ago and she and her son donate their time in the community, since his passing. He was city councilman for Grovetown Ga. Check out her song "The First Thing I'll See" on Youtube. You'll enjoy that. God Bless You

  • @71jstevenson i havent seen her either since 2008 harlem high graduation when my brother graduated

  • This song, She said, was about temptation

  • @71jstevenson I agree. I always knew that it is about temptation. How could anyone disagree?

  • People dont know this but, Terri wasnt born blind. She told us at my g-moms church that the hospital workers didnt cover her eyes when they placed her the heat lamp at the hospital. Back then it was a hot and bright light bulb. She said that it was so that the Lord could show His Glory would be reaveled in her. I grew up seeing my g-parents visit with her and her mother. She was a member of Dearing Full gospel Church that we all attended. Bless you Terri in all that you do for His Kingdom

  • No relation to the wrestler who gave Ultimate Warrior his first WWF match.

  • this song reminds me of my ex-boyfriend.

  • I have heard repeatedly that this song was about "ELVIS".....therefore, it has always been a favorite of mine......Shoot, I'd not only let em' in.......I'd pull him in..........:):)

Great song......thank's for the wonderful memories......

  • hard not to like this song. very mysterious. the devil is knocking in everybody's doors today in 2010 and many are opening those doors. great song.

  • I use to think this was a man.

  • I forgot about this song. Man.....good stuff!!

  • I loved this song when I was growing up back in the day:->

  • country was @ its best during these years

  • @AstrosN08

This doesn't sound like country at all to me!

  • @mark40511 i first heard it on the country radio stations in december 1980 throughout oklahoma and texas doing deliveries. when the hell were you born? 1985? it sounds more country than the crap called country today which does not even sound like country at all. but a bunch of yuppy, hollywood, and wall street music industry corp bullshit with people who call themselves country singers that are from new york, pennsylvania, and california. what the fuck is this bullshit?

  • @BBQFanNo1

No I was born in 1972........I guess because it has a mysterious sound to it. To me country is like "the queen of my double wide trailer"...........This has a slight country sound to it but an adult contemporary sound to me as well.......New York and Pennsylvania have PLENTY of rural areas.....It sounds like you equate country with the south only, and that's not true. Damn, stop trippin!

  • This song is too tight.

  • Yes, Terri did have a number of songs that were popular. I love her ballad "Tell Me That You Love Me". It's so pretty and says so much. Terri is a wonderful artist. She looks really classy in this video. Thank you for posting this treasure. - Paula

  • HIt #3 AC, #8 country, #13 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • good ole song.

  • great song - but a one-hit wonder

  • Terri Gibbs such a talented and beautiful person!!!! Such a beautiful song!

  • Barry White !!!!!!!!!

  • @jmac3480 Very country of him huh?

  • Great song! And I too, thought it was sung by a man. No offense to her though.

  • mad props

  • I remember solid gold and I remember this episode. I fell in love with this song!

  • Oh my god, I always thought that the singer was man. Now I know it's a blind woman.

  • @aallpp55 me too, ha!

  • @aallpp55 lol. that would be one very effeminate man.. I dunno, I always recognised her voice as a woman's.. plus she was singing about a man..and can you imagine the uproar a man would have caused back in the day, singing that song professionally? it would be crazy !! ^_^

  • a one hit wonder but i remember her well.

i even sing this at karaoke.

  • @swampzoid , she's not a one hit wonder, between 1980 and 1990, she charted 13 singles, though this was her highest charting at #8.

  • Looks like you tried to bootleg this off of Pay-Per-View back in the 80's.

  • This is back when singers were real people, not all 10's models. Just cause someone isn't pretty doesn't mean they can't sing.

  • @NoDropLS That's what I say , looks doesn't mean you can sing or not. Simon Cowell seems to think it's all about the looks ,-BAH

  • @NoDropLS Who ever said she wasn't that pretty?

    ;D

  • Wonderful song -- love it !!

  • Teresa Fay "Terri" Gibbs (born June 15, 1954 in Miami, Florida) is an American country music artist who was born blind. Between 1980 and 1990, she recorded seven studio albums, including four for MCA Records and one for Warner Bros. Records. She also charted thirteen singles on the Billboard country singles charts in that timespan, including her debut single "Somebody's Knockin'", which reached #8 on the country charts, #13 on the pop charts and #3 on the Adult Contemporary charts.

  • thanks for the bio

  • Good old days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this, I was in kindergarden when this song came out, one of my favorites as a kid.

  • Love this song! They don't play it enough though! She's just Amazing though!

  • @bobbysocksbaby21 They don't play this song on the radio much because programmers don't want the religion fanatics calling the station and raising a stink about the lyrics referring to The Devil.

  • @lakebay972

Ok then why do they play the devil went down to georgia by Charlie Daniels all the time.

  • @MrThrotlejunkie Because in "Devil Went Down to Georgia," The Devil is defeated by Johnny in a fiddle playing contest. In "Somebody's Knockin," The Devil wins by intimidating and stalking the singer. Religion fanatics, as well as people in general, like it when The Devil loses.

  • Does ANYBODY know where I can get this as an MP3 download? I've tried Napster but no luck. Thanks.

  • @jakiken iTunes has it, but it's from a country station with an intro. It's a live performance recording. I have the original recording on cassette tape. lol

  • what a great song !! i will upload this song on acoustic classical gutiar in the next couple of weeks !!

    feel free to watch !!

  • This song is bad ass. But I thought this was a man singing and when I saw her picture I still thought it was a man until I looked her up on wikipedia.

  • Me too, I thought it was guy too.

  • @NowhereMan1966 maybe your blind too?

  • @jkoncz

Well, I'm terminally nearsighted and I think I'm headed towards bifocals too. B-)

  • Never having seen "Terri" Gibbs, I thought the song was performed by a guy. OOPS!!!

  • Ha! Me too... until I am now seeing this video...for the last 29 years of my life, i thought it was a man!

  • god im 13 and i never miss a beat with this song HOW COOL AM I?????!!!!!!!

  • I have brown eyes and brown jeans..not to mention undies

  • Awesome

  • She also had a big Christian music career. Several of her albums got a lot of air play in the 80's and 90's.
