His real name was Up'an Gles'ka Ota, which means "Many Spotted Cow Elks".
Nobody really cares. How sad that in this generation the language will be 95% gone.
Was on that ride in 90, 92, the ride to Canada in 93, again in 2005 I rode on the Sitanka Wokiksuye Ride. You should research your info carefully and check your sources. There is too much misinformation out there. I know you mean well in your heart so thank you.
Miigwech Maria, It is imortant to point out these details to keep the history straight. It is also important to show respect and support for your allies. That is why I went on the ride. Just to get it out of the way, his name wasn't Bigfoot, it's Spotted Elk. Bigfoot was a nickname given by the U.S. cavalry.
Miigwetch, I know. The year I was on the ride only about eight riders started at Sitting Bull's home. The part that I rode was Spotted Elks Trail.(Bigfoot was the name that the seventh cavalry gave him.)
I was on the 19th ride, have lots of video. Check out the sacred sites run video, it has more of Wounded Knee.
It was an honor to be on the ride as a spiritual sacrifice for the descendents of the survivors.

As a global identity we really need to become more humane. I can see you have a loving energy and it is nice to listen to you.
