Since we are all entitled to our own opinions, Ill just say think that this is by far the most emotional recording of this piece. Many of the others take it far to fast for my taste, especially at the beginning. And who can beat the brass sound this recording has in the fourth movement? The only possible contender is the Chicago Symphony's recording of Mahler 1 on here, or perhaps the small section of Strauss' Eine Alpinesinfonie recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic.
i wish the orcastra didnt come in at 8:40 fuck that is like the best piano part of the whole song and they ruin it..... haha if anyones intrested in check out this diffrent take on the peice... watch the video from 5 mintues on... /watch?v=-KeaPeMEygA
Oh and I seem to have forgotten any actual comment on this video. Fantastic playing here, really enjoyed his perfect use of rhythm and color together. I didn't really like the cadenza though, didn't really seem vicious or caustic enough. Might just be the audio compression.
As with most recordings I've heard of this concerto, I think this interpretation has some parts which IMO are the "best" way to interpret it, and other parts not so good. I don't really enjoy the tempo he takes it at, but I think that this recording does indeed have the best rhythm and forebodingness. And I love the way he plays the 2nd theme and cadenza. Thanks for the upload.
Sweepingly majestic!

@Uzzie101 - The end of the note cuts off, that's what annoys me >.< no need to be rude...

Why does it cut off so soon at the end?! Totally ruins the musical silence that should have been left hanging!

@musative Just turn everything else off, and sit in the actual silence. Jesus..

The greatest moment has to be at 11:08 to the end. Speechless awe.

Such a tremendous concerto. Were I on a desert island, the #2 and Khachaturian's would keep me eternally happy.

Bolet/Johnson is my favorite, but my favorite modern recording is Gutierrez/Tennstedt (not Jarvi)

Thanks for uploading Kun-Woo Paik's performance! He is a wonderful pianist! Have you heard him play the Busoni piano concerto? Astounding!
