  • Very slick. Lifting the dolly off, moving track and having to lift the dolly back up wears on the crew and interrupts whatever other work they could be doing. That time adds up, as does crew fatigue during a 16 hour shoot day- since a loaded Fisher 10 runs about 500+ lbs.

This system looks like it would work best on a smooth floor or a studio situation where a lot of leveling wouldn't be needed- but it's a great idea nonetheless. It's neat how the jacks become brakes for the track wheels.

  • How much for that & is it working with EGRIPMENT tracks?

  • Sold, sell me one!

  • cool idea, but as a grip i rarely if ever use track on bare floor, there would be some wedges under there! And if i were in a studio and needed to adjust track i'd grab other grips or pa's to give a quick hand. again, really cool idea, but i dont think i'd use it more than a novelty.

  • @socialincastmedia Consider this. When it's time to move to next shot, why not snap an extra slice of track on at the end or pull the shims from an end slice, roll onto it, unsnap rest of track and then TrackJack it over to next setup? You look like a hero. You can even roll around w/ DP sitting on the dolly while hunting for the perfect shot. Also, what happens when the dolly needs to be flipped for whatever reason? Everyone is waiting on and watching you. Just a thought. Thanks, Stian

  • @stian222 yeah... I kind of agree with the other guy.... I get that their small but it's more gear to carry around... plus like the other guy said. How hard is it to get two or three PA's.... lift the rig off the dolly tracks... and then flip the dolly tracks around?

  • YOU ARE MY HERO!!!

  • These posts seem a bit old, but I cannot help but say, "WTF!!! You are a genius! I am just blown away, brother."

(Methinks I doth shat me pantaloons whilst viewing thine moving images.)

    Seriously bro, awesome.

  • Who the hell gave it a 'don't like' vote?????? Morons.

  • Great invention...and thanks for all the comedy in this blog. How stupid are these questions?

  • This will save so much production time!

  • This is pure genius!!

  • and I thought track ramps were cool!

  • Countless rigging and un-rigiging to move the tracks to another position, hours and backs would be saved with this awesome invention, lately we used those things sold to put under washing machines to move them around and a small jack to lift the track. Nice one!

  • Wow that's amazing!

  • sweet. Clean, quick, easy

  • iggy4mayor might as well run for governor... at least here in California he might have a chance, LOL

    Awesome concept...

  • Really Cool idea.

  • yeah it will be a great time saver on set where every second counts and costs .cool very cool .

  • This is awesome

  • That is just genius... Totally at lack of words. Sold any?

  • @MichaelDaeche, Rick Compeau, who has bought all the rights to the TrackJack system, is working on getting them manufactured. Will leave message here under 'Info' when they are available for sale. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Stian

  • That's clever man! Good job!

  • too bad it's way too fucking loud while moving to have any usable sound footage. sorry, but it does look handy for certain shots.

  • You are not the brightest lamp on set.

  • its for moving the dolly inbetween shots....

  • @iggy4mayor Run with scissors much as a kid?

Actually, when they are available for sale, Rick assures me there will be a warning label about people like you even touching them. It's for your own good. You would end up hurting yourself, the dolly or other people. Every grip needs to be at least 10% smarter than the equipment he or she puts his or her hands on. Yeah, I may be a sarcastic douche bag but at least I'm a 'Safe' sarcastic douche bag.

  • @stian222 Can't stop laughing... thank you

  • @iggy4mayor Hey retard, it's for moving the track and skate-wheels in between shots. You know, those things you are moving with the track jack in the first place? Jesus.

  • @iggy4mayor what a retard, i hope u know ur mistake by now ....

  • @iggy4mayor and plus it's not for during a shot, it's so they don't waste time taking your dolly off the track moving the track and then setting up again.

  • @iggy4mayor Thats why u do voice overs...You need to know your stuff before you get all huffed up???

  • @iggy4mayor It's to move your track to a different location. You won't be recording when you are doing this.

  • @iggy4mayor Why would sound be rolling when setting up the dolly And dolly track?

  • @iggy4mayor N00b! Why would you be rolling around the whole track while filming? This invention is just to make it easy to set up the dolly track for filming.

  • @iggy4mayor Okay just to clear up his prior messages I just wanted to point out that this invention is for safely moving a track dolly BEFORE you shoot your next shot. Normal protocol would have you take the dolly and camera off the track. Move it the track then reset the Dolly. So as you can see this saves time, manpower, money, and for the sake of the business time for most productions.

It's a great idea. Cool to have seen it.

  • @iggy4mayor That might be the most idiotic comment I've read today. Congrats.

  • @iggy4mayor - Dam... really?

  • LOL

  • Dolly moves!

ahaha, sweet invention. Hope to see it in the film world soon.

  • spettacolare

  • Just wow... simple and elegant, elegance in simplicity. This device is genius...

    ..X..

  • patent it before some shark steals the idea (like bill gates style)

  • Very cool, man. I've seen a lot of things but I have not seen something so effective and simple. I'm impressed. Good luck with the bar but get back to this soon as you can. This cuts a day in half! Grass roots is the way, you bet. I'd buy a set...

  • very nice!!!

  • perhaps the coolest thing is that you use your feet so effortlessly - like some kind of skateboard manovering

    or maybe i'm just mad

  • that is friggin' great. i would think that a grip house would buy it from you. hell, sell it to stages and dolly grips ... maybe PS Technik. brilliant.!

  • i have a friend at Arri Munich ... i'm gonna ask him if he knows anyone.

  • genius. pure genius.

  • Fuckin brilliant man!

  • Thanx. It took over 11 years to start making a prototype from the time of initial ah ha moment. Once we started using Tray Bogey Wheel set ups I thought there had to be a better way. It took me that long to distill the idea down to the simplest form which you see in this vid. It really only takes one grip to repo the dolly once you are up on a 8' slice. You can even push it around with the DP on the dolly looking through the view finder. Thanks again, Stian Nilsen - Key Grip, NYC

  • Ya okay cool! But how many feet of track can you do it on? 8 foot stick 10??????? Can you do it on dirt? sand? one 10 foot stick big deal. But cool tool Where can i get one made? who makes it? Thanks for the dolly move!

  • If you read the "More Info" on the upper right hand area of this page you should get at least some of your answers. Cheers, stian

  • haha holy shit! how much r u selling thoughs for???

  • call cino

  • Awesome!

  • Wow, that was pretty sweet...

  • Brilliant! I love you man!

  • Very nice, Where do I get a set before I blow out my back.

  • WHERE DO YOU GET ONE OF THOSE!!?

  • i want to buy one right now....how do i get one?

  • Ciao I am an Italian key grip, your tool is very good.

    Danilo

  • your name doesn't say it..

  • nice man!!

  • very nice job dude, i hope you make a fortune.

  • This product is great. Hope you guys make a million.

    Best Wishes,
