i love the sound of the 5.0 as well but unless its a 32 valve cobra a 5.0 built correctly with f/a will out last a 16 valve 4.6 with equal f/a...and 4.6s just dont make as much torque which = more fun lol

thats true the platform from 79-04 is the same. But nobody refers to the 95 -04's as fox body's. The Cobra is a much better car thanks to its IRS, modern DOHC insanely strong motor. Im sorry but a car with a live rear axle and an OHV motor does not do it for me.
IRS will only take you so far before it gives out and its much cheaper to beef up a straight axle then irs....to each thier own i guess....irs in its own is a very good design but i guess its what you want to do with the car that sets them apart
what about the IRS on all the supercars? or the vette or CTS-V? They handle massive horsepower. live rear axle is cheaper and thats why Ford uses it. Its cutting corners, and the sole reason why i'd rather have a new Camaro than a new Mustang. But i'd take an 03/04 Cobra over an 03/04 Camaro SS...
i was talking 1000+ hp and 1/4 mile vs. road course....anything over that hp is straight axle because it can hold more hp/tq. off the line and irs is clearly better for road course and like i said before...irs will only take you so far before it gives out
I agree that it is not cheap but honestly it is around the same price as a solid axle swap, and I have seen built IRS's launched @ 6000 rpm's at the strip and hold up, they are good to 800 hp easily, 1000 would be pushing it. So unless you are planning for HIGH hp I wouldn't change to a solid simply because I love the way the IRS feels on the road, and it can be beefed up too. within reason.

i had a 2004 gt with all the bolt ons and a tune, no sc and it was quick i loved that car, i sold it and i finished my 1990 stang with a 306 and some upper end work car is fast i love it....but im sorry 2003-04 cobras are just plain straight up bad ass and unbeatable i been around all diff types of stangs...cobras are the way to go unless u got a fox set up right

True... Cobras ARE very badass... but I saw a supercharged 2003 Mach 1 smoke the shit out of a Cobra here in town... mabye the Cobra driver didn't know how to shift correctly! LOL but it was a whipping...

Not quite sure... all I know is that it was some young kid that barely looked 18 driving the Cobra, and an older guy probably in his mid to late 20s driving the Mach 1... it seemed like the Mach 1 driver was shifting better from the sound of it. The kid probably had mommie and daddies car lol

Although I prefer a 5.0 s/c over a 4.6 S/C.
But the 4.6 DOHC LOVES forced induction. That's the only way to have a 4.6.

the 32 valve cobra 4.6 loves boost the regular 16 valve 4.6 arent the greatest build motors by any means...i prefer 5.0 personally

i love the sound of the 5.0 as well but unless its a 32 valve cobra a 5.0 built correctly with f/a will out last a 16 valve 4.6 with equal f/a...and 4.6s just dont make as much torque which = more fun lol

Just FYI, all mustangs from 79 to 2004 are Fox based chassis. The 95 up are lightly improved, but parts will interchange.

thats true the platform from 79-04 is the same. But nobody refers to the 95 -04's as fox body's. The Cobra is a much better car thanks to its IRS, modern DOHC insanely strong motor. Im sorry but a car with a live rear axle and an OHV motor does not do it for me.

IRS will only take you so far before it gives out and its much cheaper to beef up a straight axle then irs....to each thier own i guess....irs in its own is a very good design but i guess its what you want to do with the car that sets them apart

what about the IRS on all the supercars? or the vette or CTS-V? They handle massive horsepower. live rear axle is cheaper and thats why Ford uses it. Its cutting corners, and the sole reason why i'd rather have a new Camaro than a new Mustang. But i'd take an 03/04 Cobra over an 03/04 Camaro SS...

i was talking 1000+ hp and 1/4 mile vs. road course....anything over that hp is straight axle because it can hold more hp/tq. off the line and irs is clearly better for road course and like i said before...irs will only take you so far before it gives out

I agree that it is not cheap but honestly it is around the same price as a solid axle swap, and I have seen built IRS's launched @ 6000 rpm's at the strip and hold up, they are good to 800 hp easily, 1000 would be pushing it. So unless you are planning for HIGH hp I wouldn't change to a solid simply because I love the way the IRS feels on the road, and it can be beefed up too. within reason.
